I attempted halo the other day and i must say the first part of the level getting up the tower is easy i just have trouble killng spark i also made it up to the first circular part in the warthog run drove off the edge and i went flying in the same dirrection that a new tile blow up so i fell straight through!
I also found a way to do the first 2 jumps of halo without grenades at all it works about 90% of the time.
I had trouble with Spark for a while, too. My suggestion is, constantly strafe back and forth while jumping. When Spark fires, it will be at the spot you were, which you, if you do it right, will have already jumped away from. Another thing I liked to do, since I was lazy, is grab a bubble shield, which was usually lying somewhere on top of the tower, and throw it down. It normally lasted until Johnson lasered him, and it meant I just stood there, staring at him try and shoot me.

If you want, there is a video of me doing it in my file share, but other peoples will probably give you a better idea of what to do.

In general, yes. I've noted Combat Forms with Rocket Launchers or Fuel Rod Guns being the ones to drop equipment. Very rarely one will drop a Regenerator, but mostly you'll get Bubble Shields.

Spark never aims at you, even when you're standing still -- the beam initially starts to your left or right and he then tries to sweep you with it. It seems that which side he aims at depends on his location. I believe it is when he is to your right he aims to your left, and vice-versa. As Tyrant said, you can simply hop over the beam.

Or if you are feeling adventurous, you could crouch under it.

For a second I thought you were talking about the Scarab's beam.

Nice one, I've seen his film guys and he did well. :-)
So which mission are you gonna try next then Burnett? I tihnk that most here would recommend Halo because if you know the driving section it's only half a mission. (Less if you check some fileshares and see how to skip the ziggurat.)

Also, Gazas your video helped a lot, I didn't know about that Regenerator straight after the Drones, nor about the little peep hole at Wraith Hill via glitching the bridge. All very useful stuff, now if only the marines would end their vendetta against me...

Whew. I tackled Crow's Nest yesterday. Surprisingly it only took me about 10 tries... I guess watching other films really does help. As always, though, I don't have an internet connection on my xbox to prove any of this (but the films are saved so eventually...).

That leaves me only 3 more levels: Cortana, Sierra, and the Ark. Could someone please give me a hint as to which level to try next? Even just a simple one word answer will do. Thanks.

I'm positive I've brought up talk about the Regenerator before, granted I never looked for it until Gazas mentioned it. The bridge thing has proven useful before. I noticed that by accident and found it to be a helpful way of seeing which way the Wraiths were facing so I could plan my move.

I have absolutely no idea why you haven't done Cortana yet, so I'd recommend that.

It's already known. Unless of course your jump doesn't involve a Gravity Hammer or Fuel Rod Gun, in which case, I'm all ears.

No it uses a gravity hammer but i just didn't know if anyone had a way that worked nearly all the time without using grenades.

Edit: Has anyone made any videos of the S117 vids yet and put them on a website?

Can anyone give me some good advice for doing the storm SLASO? I get to the first AA wraith fairly easily, but 95% of the time when I get there I end up getting attacked by two brutes, a few jackals and a load of grunts whilst taking control of the wraith. Any advice on how to stop this?

Check out the OP. There is an entire walkthrough dedicated to it ;-)

Basically, the video suggests taking out a few in the middle before rushing the Wraith; namely the Brute. If it takes longer than just a couple of seconds, rush the Wraith, kill the gunner, and don't worry about actually jacking it until after you've killed the approaching Covenant infantry. Without a gunner, it really can't do anything to you at close range.

Well, I find if you do manage to take down the brute like Tyrant said, or at least knock off his armor, your marines will mop him up, as well as the Jackals. I usually spend 2-3 PP shots at him, and pray I hit. If not, I run on. I find that he doesn't charge you until the wraith has been dropped, so if I know I didn't take down the Brute, I'll risk the Phantom fire and take the wraith out as soon as possible.

Another thing you could try is dropping the Bubble shield you got in the first hallway,so you're safe while boarding. I only tried this once, but it worked out. The Brutes in the wraith drop another Bubble so you should be OK if you like to run through the next room. Again, I really have no idea what happens when you drop a bubble on top of a wraith, though I imagine if it decides to shoot...

To wrap up, if you don't manage to take the Brute down, take out the Wraith ASAP. And hope.

Nevermind wasting your PP on that Brute, just use a Ghost from the previous area, Vince told me to do that and it's much more efficient. Not to mention faster.
You should generally be able to strip the Brute's armour and still get to the Wraith drop spot before the Phantom is anywhere near in position.

Right, but that's IF you get a ghost. Keep in mind that your Marines can steal that opportunity away from you.

Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

I don't see it as that big a deal, I like to bring the warthog along with me. Besides, the PP is usually full, since I haven't used it yet, and I can always just keep the Arbiters Rifle if I want to. If it comes right down to it, I suppose you could just park the Warthog where it can shoot the Brute, and at least act as a distraction. Now that I think about it, I've never used the Hog beyond that point anyway.

Even if you just run by the middle without even trying to take down the Brute, it's easy enough to PP BR him as he climbs up to the platform with the wraith once you take down the gunner. I've just had bad experiences with ghosts.

I would suggest practicing without Iron on, and maybe Blind. I cannot tell you how much time I wasted getting this area down with all the Skulls on. Knowing how to react to weird situations can turn a run you would normally have died on into a run you finish. I still haven't managed that whole finishing thing.

I suppose you mean if the marines frag both Ghosts? They do have a tendency to do that, however during most of my runs either only one Ghost was used because I killed all the Grunts before opening the gate, or the Brute on the Ghost was sensible enough (or so he thought) to hide behind a crate which allows an extremely easy hijack and shield regen.
Anyway, that PP can be used I suppose but it's less time effective and has limited charge. Also it gives you less defence in the warehouse...not that anyone should need to defend themselves in the warehouse, what with Arbiter and respawning marines.
Well, that my opinion on the subject anyway; if it helps great, if it doesn't hopefully someone else's method works.

EDIT: Have you tried practicing from the Rally Point Scapegoat? Not sure if it will help but it might.

As long as the Ghost is still usable, it works. If you killed off most/all the Grunts then the only enemy who may get in a Ghost is the Captain with the Carbine. The other one should be out of harm's way.

u realize your one of like 30 people to actually manage a level SLASO? u shud be proud

i tried sierra 117 SLASO as a test and nearly cried

The count is really that low? Wow.

And you're right. Sierra 117 is a pain. I won't be doing them in order. I want to do the easy ones first to build up a feel for it. As far as I know and understand, that still counts.

I'm not really sure why people fear Blind all that much. Sure, it takes a little getting use to in terms of playing without a reticule, but you'll get the hang of it. The only real problem is not being able to monitor your shields. The main skull that makes Mythic so difficult is Iron.

Things of this sort have been brought up countless times in the topic; obviously not everyone is going to read through all 300+ pages to see if a tip like that has been suggested, so maybe we should...add something to the OP? I don't know.

I guess I'll rehash what I've said about it before: it just requires a good deal of practice. In my particular case, before my friends and I did a lot of playing Halo (and eventually Halo 2 when it came out), we played a FPS on the Playstation 2 called "Time Splitters 2". Now, there was no reticule in that game unless you held down...I forget what shoulder button. So, because of that, I never really had too difficult of a time figuring out where I would be shooting, not to mention every gun in the game seems to fire tracer rounds which can help you judge where you're shooting.

And also to rehash, Tyrant will bring up that sticking things on his plasma screen TV is not on his to do list.

Edit: He beat me to the post, but he didn't bring that up. Oh well.

In other news, I know when our [potential] fourth member is moving back to my area: March 11th. Which is not long before the release of RE5, which he is dying to get. I presume he'll be able to get through Legendary in one or two days, but to get used to Mythic...I don't know, that may take four to five.

As long as he knows when to stay back (and show up) it shouldn't be an issue. Keep in mind that Kronos and Kommandant didn't have ANY experience prior to Team Mythic 2.0
