This weekend I'm pulling myself together to play some Mythic, Crow's Nest of course. And the one main piece of advice I'm looking for is how the -blam- can you get past the Motor Pool without going insane? That single fight always gets me and the 2 (or was it just 1?) times that I got past it were just flukes.

In order of difficulty it goes for me:

1. Carbine brutes
2. Anything else
3. Chieftain

Chieftains are pushovers; one time he didn't even bother following me out of the back door and my marines just stood there doing nothing, then he goes back and I get a cheap assassination. But in all seriousness, I really need advice for the carbine brutes.

i havent even got that far. i get to the end of the first hangar and get flanked. they come up BOTH stairs at the same time. it happens to often. so now, before the FIRST phantom comes i go get a deployable cover to BLOCK one stair way. it works.

im a beast of a player and understand how brutes work so i will go kamakazi for the motor pool part. all brutes have an attention span, they also prep themselves before shooting. id say if you know its a carbine jackal either tuckNrun when he sees you OR hit him froma different angle. when you poke out you get their attention in that direction, so if you load a plasma pistol(PP) and hit him from 45 degrees any other direction he will most likely not dodge it and he it gives you at least 2 seconds of leeway before he sees you and ends you.

It sounds like you're using the method I originally showed in my original run through Crow's Nest. Check my page in the group for my Armed Conformist and Misanthrope links for Crow's Nest, as I had to get even more creative (No Plasma Pistols at the Motor Pool...ugh). There's a fun little trick I thought of for that portion and had to employ both times that makes fighting the Carbine Brutes easier.

Hello Tyrant, I hope your days are going well; mine are fine thankyou.

Anyway, I was thinking about Halo 3: Mythic Difficulty, and I have desided I want to do this. I know that it is going to take alot of time and alot of hard work, but I am ready for the challange. Just asking: it there anything specific I should know before I start? And yes, I have read all the rules.

Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

Don't forget to turn campaign scoring on on every mission. I'd also put a large piece of bulletproof glass in front of your TV and Xbox, as well as stock up on extra controllers, anti-depressants, and lots of water (I find I quickly dehydrate after all the nervous sweating and large amount of tears). And remember, when at first you don't succeed, try try try try again. Good luck :)

I'm on my first one too. I got it 2006.

All this Mythic stuff will probably break it soon lol.

That's why I got an Elite. And Tyrant, you'll get to see the faster kamikaze method when I've completed The Ark... Sorry...
That's what I responded to, sorry I didn't quote lol.

No Qoute, No Comphrende' Homes...

I suppose I could explain it... Right:

AA Gun area in The Ark. Kill the Carbine Jackel, he's the only one you'll have to deal with here! Go left past the nearest rock and drop down off the wall. Kill any grunts you see in close vicinity, normally there's 1 or 2 and a brute nearby, the brute is generally behind a rock but if you feel he's a threat, take him out. Now near the cliff to your left (the exit way) there'll be a rock that you jump on, then from there jump over to the AA guns leg that is closest to you. You'll probably land on the rock in front of you so feel free to gain some momentum by repeat jumping. From that rock try to aim behind the AA's leg. Here, you'll be safe for a little while (THAT DOES NOT MEAN STOP MOVING, SON) Now move over to the lowest part of the ledge in front of you and jump up. Make your way to the top and kill you some Grunts... And a Brute, if your allergic to Brute Shots that is, if not... Let It Be. Maybe even whisper some words of wisdom...

Is this the area after the first area? (With the Hunters?)

  • 03.13.2009 12:59 AM PDT

Correct. That's the only part of the level with an A.A. Gun, albeit incomplete.

It would be wiser to kill all three Jackals as shown in my Kamikaze run. Can you squeak by without getting hit? Sure, there's always a possibility, but since you're usually one-shot by the time you get that far, you're better off not taking any chances. Kill one of the Grunts along the way and swap out your sniper rifle for the plasma pistol. When you get to the top of the side ramp, KILL the Brute at the top. There's no sense in chancing it since at that point, it will only take a little splash damage from his weapon to finish you off.

In all seriousness though, we're talking about The Ark, here; the most challenging Mythic mission in the campaign by far. If you haven't already Mythiced it once successfully, you're better off using the S&S methods until you find yourself well adjusted.

Looks like I need a new Xbox. Red Ringed earlier when I turned it on. I'll grab a new one tommorow. No School for 2 weeks. So, I might try Halo Wars on Mythic. But I need to grab the Skulls first.

FYI to all Mythic Challengers!

You have just under 35 hours to go until the contest comes to a close. Time to put yourselves into High Gear Halo!

Oh teh noes! Play Halo faster peoples!

Yeah, okay, anyway. With my rush I generally grab a PP from one of the sleeping Grunts, of course the one I grab It from Is now permanently asleep... And the other two Carbine Jackels have only shot at me once, but I see your point, but It also doesn't really matter seeing as It only took me about a 1:30 to get to that point, and said 1:30 was filled with minimum effort. After I tried the S&S on Tsavo Highway (I died at the area after the dam) I got sick of S&S-ing the beginning, so I generally rush the start and slow down later on. When It starts looking like a legitimate run.

Me and Kryptic are going to complete Multi-Mythic. We've had a good warmup day, we did some The Covenant and got to the first generator when due to stupid delay, I stuck myself.

We're practicing more tomorrow, without restarting. We're gonna do it with style too.

Which players have completed Multi-Mythic before?

We managed to go 4 levels Quag-Mythic style before I got fed up with two of our other members. Don't know about anyone else.

Not to be mean or rude, but that isn't even an active GT here according to the Search Bar. Plus, even if he did, it was him, not you. When you come here, you will be respected, but seriously, no one will believe you unless you link it, and it's your tag.

i got the red rings the other night. i know how fix most red ring error problems but not this one. must be nice to just be able to go get a new one, haha.

anyways, i dont think i will ever do multi-mythic. i prefer solo. i get in my zone and like to focus on my mission instead of carrying someone else thru mythic. so im on my last 3 levels of SLASO and i got Rrod....thats going to slow me down for a few weeks....

Haven't done a multi-Mythic mission yet, but I did get some guys together to try once, such a shame that all they wanted to do was go on matchmaking and didn't even try... Got right to the end of Floodgate too which wasn't bad for people who hadn't even done Legendary (except me and my brother).
Still, the communication multi-Mythic requires feels like part of the game, it is something I really want to do, but until I find some people who can be bothered I think I'm sticking with solo.

Tyrant, mayhaps we should give Gazas and Kryptic a little competition? The Tyrant and Vincent would surely make a good team. Don't mind me, I speak in 3rd person on occasion.

That and we did 95% of the work in Quad-Mythic...

Yeah, Gazas, I'm a little confused by his statement too, surely the point behind multi-Mythic is to have all players involved communicate and work together for improved success rates right? I mean, if one player carries the others it's obviously not being done correctly.

Competition? For starters, you guys are much better than us, so it would be a walk in the park for you probably.

EDIT: But yeah, go ahead, two pairs of completers...pretty cool.

Plus, there's always at least one that's having a delay. Either me or him. If we both had no delay, it would go great.

We're practicing right now. He wanted me to check my NAT and see if it's open or not....how do I do that?

Go to the Dashboard, My Xbox, Settings (Far right), Network settings, Test Xbox live. If it says Xbox live is up and running, your NAT is open, if it gives you a pop-up saying it's not... Then it isn't.
