Tips Against Your Enemies
This section will cover the easiest and most practical ways to kill your enemies in SLASO Mode
Grunts
A single BR headshot will do the trick. Yes, the Carbine will work too, but the BR's spread makes it more of a guaranteed kill.
Jackals
For Jackal Snipers, one or two BR bursts to the head will normally do the trick. For shielded Jackals, use the plasma pistol overcharge to deactivate their shield and then quickly follow up with a BR headshot.
Drones
In Halo 3, Drones are very suseptiple to the BR. Use it. If there are choppers around, use them instead. You have infinite ammo, and the large spikes will tear Drone swarms to shreads. You only have four Drone encounters in the entire game, and the one from The Storm can be skipped entirely.
Brutes
In nearly all cases, use a plasma pistol charged shot to decimate their armor, causing them to berserk. Unlike the Elites, their shields won't recharge, allowing you to take your time. From here, you have one of two choices. You can either follow up with a BR headshot, or you can manuever your way around them for an assassination, allowing your shields to recharge. Note that the Chieftians can be dispatched in the same manor, but require a few more direct headshots.
Hunters
As of the present, I have yet to figure out an effective way of combating these walking tanks. Fortunately you only encounter them three times in the game. The first time your AI buddies can handle it (Mythic works both ways). The next two times, you can dispatch all the others enemies in the area and then just skip around the Hunters completely. Seriously, if you really want to take them down, feel free to waste the ammo, but I really don't see the point.
Vehicles
It's almost always easiest to disable the vehicle with a plasma pistol charged shot first. Next go after the gunner. If it's a Brute, use the plasma pistol to disable his armor, then follow up with a headshot. From there proceed to board the vehicle. If it's a Grunt, a BR headshot will do nicely. In terms of Wraiths, always attack from the rear. And don't worry about Banshees. You only fight them in one level of the game and you're armed with either a Hornet or a Tank. You do the math on that one.
Flood Infection Forms
An even spray from the Plasma Rifle will usually take care of a large group quickly. Don't waste your flame-based weapons. Save them for the big guys!
Combat Forms
All are suseptiple to melee attacks from both the Energy Sword and the Gravity Hammer. And all but the shielded ones are extremely vulnerable to headshots from the BR. You'll need to deal with the shielded Elite forms up close. The rest will typically crumble with one or two melees with virtually any weapon. This is a great way to recharge your shields!
Carriers
Just get near them to cause them to explode and back away quickly. Then use the Plasma Rifle to dispatch the Infection Forms that emerge.
Stalkers
Here, a simple melee with any weapon will do the trick. It may take two depending on the weapon. Once again, they are great for recharging your shields.
Tank Forms
Thus far, it appears that flame weapons are the only ones to take noticable effect on these forms. An inciniary grenade will kill one instantly. The same applies with the flamethrower. Anything else is considered a waste, so save up those flame 'nades!
Ranged Forms
These guys are really the only thing keeping the Flood from being easy prey. Aside from heavy weapons, there really are no decent ranged weapons to use against them. If you can get close enough, usually one or two melees will do the trick. Flame weapons are also extremely useful against them. Again, the trick is getting close enough to actually use them. Cover is your friend.
Sentinels
If you're smart and resourceful, you'll never actually need to fight any of these. They only appear in the second half of the last level, and really, it's far easier to just run. But if you feel the need to kick some Sentinel tail, they are most vulnerable to plasma weapons.
Hopefully this guide will help you as you embark on your own SLASO quest!
Sometimes I find it best to kill carrier forms with a plasma to the head, so infection forms do not escape.
