Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Before I got XBL, I did Floodgate, The Storm and The Ark Solo Legendary All Skulls On (except Blind and Black Eye), lol. I'm gonna give SLASO a try. I've DLed Halo and Floodgate off your FS Tyrant, here I go.

Wait, Floodgate first? Then Halo? What's the next easiest after them?

IMO, from easiest to hardest, it goes like this:

Floodgate
Halo
The Storm
Tsavo Highway
Sierra 117
The Covenant
Cortana
Crow's Nest
The Ark

I have successful vids of each level on my fileshare, if you need some pointers. Tyrant can also help too.

I'd say Sierra 117 is actually easier than Tsavo Highway. If you can get past the initial battle with your pistol and upgrade to a Carbine, you're set. It's a level where Arbiter can lend a helping hand, so I'd say maybe it's just a tad harder than the Storm.

To agree with Star, yes Cortana does have a lot of "luck" factors contributing to your success, though I still wouldn't quite consider it the third hardest.

To lollercoaster, if you can run throught it, do it. There aren't many levels where you can actually pull that off. Halo is one of the few where you really don't have to do much fighting at all. Cortana is one of those levels too, but unlike Halo, is far more unpredictable.

The rules are to complete all levels on SLASO. How you go about fighting is up to you.

Yeah, I can understand that, but that's just personally the difficulty I found them to be. The snipers gave me a really hard time on Sierra 117. Depends on the player I guess.

At one point when I went through it, I reached the end area, killed one of the snipers and had tons of BR and Sniper ammo. So I started moving around the tree to find the other sniper, and he ended up shooting through the freakin' tree and killed me in one hit. Yes they can be annoying.

Tips Against Your Enemies

This section will cover the easiest and most practical ways to kill your enemies in SLASO Mode

Grunts
A single BR headshot will do the trick. Yes, the Carbine will work too, but the BR's spread makes it more of a guaranteed kill.

Jackals
For Jackal Snipers, one or two BR bursts to the head will normally do the trick. For shielded Jackals, use the plasma pistol overcharge to deactivate their shield and then quickly follow up with a BR headshot.

Drones
In Halo 3, Drones are very suseptiple to the BR. Use it. If there are choppers around, use them instead. You have infinite ammo, and the large spikes will tear Drone swarms to shreads. You only have four Drone encounters in the entire game, and the one from The Storm can be skipped entirely.

Brutes
In nearly all cases, use a plasma pistol charged shot to decimate their armor, causing them to berserk. Unlike the Elites, their shields won't recharge, allowing you to take your time. From here, you have one of two choices. You can either follow up with a BR headshot, or you can manuever your way around them for an assassination, allowing your shields to recharge. Note that the Chieftians can be dispatched in the same manor, but require a few more direct headshots.

Hunters
As of the present, I have yet to figure out an effective way of combating these walking tanks. Fortunately you only encounter them three times in the game. The first time your AI buddies can handle it (Mythic works both ways). The next two times, you can dispatch all the others enemies in the area and then just skip around the Hunters completely. Seriously, if you really want to take them down, feel free to waste the ammo, but I really don't see the point.

Vehicles
It's almost always easiest to disable the vehicle with a plasma pistol charged shot first. Next go after the gunner. If it's a Brute, use the plasma pistol to disable his armor, then follow up with a headshot. From there proceed to board the vehicle. If it's a Grunt, a BR headshot will do nicely. In terms of Wraiths, always attack from the rear. And don't worry about Banshees. You only fight them in one level of the game and you're armed with either a Hornet or a Tank. You do the math on that one.

Flood Infection Forms
An even spray from the Plasma Rifle will usually take care of a large group quickly. Don't waste your flame-based weapons. Save them for the big guys!

Combat Forms
All are suseptiple to melee attacks from both the Energy Sword and the Gravity Hammer. And all but the shielded ones are extremely vulnerable to headshots from the BR. You'll need to deal with the shielded Elite forms up close. The rest will typically crumble with one or two melees with virtually any weapon. This is a great way to recharge your shields!

Carriers
Just get near them to cause them to explode and back away quickly. Then use the Plasma Rifle to dispatch the Infection Forms that emerge.

Stalkers
Here, a simple melee with any weapon will do the trick. It may take two depending on the weapon. Once again, they are great for recharging your shields.

Tank Forms
Thus far, it appears that flame weapons are the only ones to take noticable effect on these forms. An inciniary grenade will kill one instantly. The same applies with the flamethrower. Anything else is considered a waste, so save up those flame 'nades!

Ranged Forms
These guys are really the only thing keeping the Flood from being easy prey. Aside from heavy weapons, there really are no decent ranged weapons to use against them. If you can get close enough, usually one or two melees will do the trick. Flame weapons are also extremely useful against them. Again, the trick is getting close enough to actually use them. Cover is your friend.

Sentinels
If you're smart and resourceful, you'll never actually need to fight any of these. They only appear in the second half of the last level, and really, it's far easier to just run. But if you feel the need to kick some Sentinel tail, they are most vulnerable to plasma weapons.

Hopefully this guide will help you as you embark on your own SLASO quest!

Sometimes I find it best to kill carrier forms with a plasma to the head, so infection forms do not escape.

I'm not going to quote the above..

But; I can reach outside to the first vehicle area. Only made it out a few times. But I've been busy clearing the building and i got killed by a Ghost the first time. And hit by a Wraith Mortar shot the 2nd time.

Have Fun! Those ghosts pissed me off so much.

I recommend taking out the ghosts first, then the wraith, and then the AA wraith

When you first get outside, make sure you have a BR and a plasma pistol. The first thing you want to do is rush to the opposite side of the lake bed via the outer walkway. Make sure you're on the other side when the Phantom drops off the Wraith. Charge the plasma pistol to disable it from the back. Then jump on top and use a charged plasma shot to decimate the gunner's power armor and the BR to get the headshot. Then jack the Wraith and use it to destroy everything else.

Something a wise SGM once told me...
50% of all scientists disagree with the other 50%.

Me and a couple friends beat it CLASO awhile back. But I wouldn't even dare try SLASO. I tried it on Sierra 117, got to the last section(When the Phantoms come in) and got killed by the Phantom turret, which made the Iron Skull kick in. I was so pissed, I quit and jumped on Matchmaking. I think I'm gonna try SLASO this week. See if I can be magic number 6.
