I have never needed a Rocket (lately) to deal with the Scarab. If you watch my The Storm run, you'll see the famous way of jumping on to it with the Gravity Lift. Plasma pistols are easily collected in the areas before.

The Rocket Launcher isn't for the Scarab itself, but rather for passing along to the Arbiter afterwards to make the last half of the mission easier.
Yeah that's true but I think there's a pretty good chance that at least one marine is alive with a rocket launcher. Specially since the gravity lift method will kill the Scarab fast enough that it won't have time to kill all the marines. So when it's destroyed, take a look at the Mongooses driving around. I do it often and I always find someone with a Rocket Launcher. You may say that "There's a risk of not finding one" but c'mon lol.

Of course but the risk is low. And as you said, staying still for 30 minutes trying to kill a Scarab is risky too.

There's nothing wrong in having segments either, you know like Kamikaze, for experienced players, just a little more riskier. And in this case, the only risk would be that you can't find a Rocket Launcher. However, can't you just juggle one outside and take it when the Scarab is dead?

Once on board, I don't prefer going to the sides as there are 3 Brutes there and along with a couple of Grunts, they outnumber you pretty easily. Jumping to the top of the Scarab is better since you can hide behind the little arch that's holding up the scarab turret. Although it is still risky as Grunts can stick you, and the Captain can maul you down before you kill him.

My favorite method would be jumping on the Scarab, then head straight downstairs. With the Plasma Pistol charged right when I land, I can take out the Captain fast and with that, the Grunts will go boom. Just don't get them to go boom near you. If you don't hear any major explosions from outside, they didn't pull out any grenades.
Once downstairs is clear (don't forget the turret), you can either wait for them to come or peek out to stick the Brutes.

Watch my The Storm run, it's the only mission I have in the Fileshare and it's just part of my new Mythic run.

Qued for download. I'm always up for new ways.

Halo 3: ReV Eskimo

eventually ill be back on Reach and CEA. i enjoy gaming for fun, im a great player and i enjoy smoking while i play. so any chill players feel free to add me. I in NO way support halocharts; old username.

wow i have to write this all again :(

anyways, what ive been doing lately is boarding it from the highrise catwalks.i kill the grunts before i jump on and wait for the brutes to go into hiding.i jump and go on top of the sucker.wait a few seconds to make sure the brutes are preoccupied then i go down to get a plasma pistol where the grunts died.take out the brutes with your PP and then grab the mounted turret to kill the scarab.grab your rockets as the scarab is collapsing.if you are lucky, the brutes will stay in the lower hold and you will not have to kill a single brute to kill the scarab.it happened to me on my successful run of the storm.its easy and only takes 5 minutes to complete.

Not sure, but even if only one shows up, you only need the one Marine with the Beam Rifle. You can give the Pilot your laser. That way you have two passengers.

Which would reuire me to cart the Laser and Beam Rifle down the slope. Which is why I suggested juggling on order to bring my BR and Fuel Rod Gun along too.
Of course this is me acting under the assumption that an invisible barrier forms after reaching the Hornets, would I be wrong to assume this and still be capable of backtracking in the 'hog to fetch my other weapons?

You don't really need your BR at that point. There are usually plenty of Carbines and Beam Rifles at Tower Three to go around. Just worry about getting the laser and Fuel Rod Gun there. The Beam Rifle passenger is just an added bonus that will make things easier. When you're on the Hornet, you should have a Fuel Rod Gun and the pilot's Magnum. The pilot should then have the laser, and the Marine should have the Beam Rifle.

Doesn't matter, I managed. Time for my blog in the Q4M group to update methinks. :-)

Sierra 117 in which I've already been to the damn but got demoralised by Jackal Snipers.
Crow's Nest which I've looked at with Gazas before, and The Ark in which we've only ever messed around on before. (I think Gazas showed me how to make Elites do awesome grenade throws.)

Haha oh right. Schh, keep it a secret!

And good job on beating Da Covenant! Now it's all downhill, the three last, AND HARDEST missions left!

That's quite a coincidence. :-)

To Gazas: I don't really think that Sierra 117 is all that hard. The only mistake I made last time was to not stockpile enough ammo for sieging the dam which reuslted in dead man's click. Otherwise I'd have had 7 done by now.
Good Luck with the rest of your missions.

Alright, it looks like boarding the Scarab is a bad idea. Yeah, it works sometimes but not enough. If I board too quickly, I get corned by the Grunts and Brutes. I can't keep track of them all at once since they can come from both directions. Usually when I have one or two under control, another sneaks up behind me. But if I wait too long to get on board so I can take out some of the Grunts and even a Brute or two first, the Scarab is no longer in an easy position to hop on board. Many times it does that thing where I jump and it takes a step backwards so I die from the fall damage.

Congrats MATCLAN, any idea for what level your going to decide upon now? Oh and a bit of advice for Sierra which you might want to watch out for; occasionally when you stockpile weapons in the area just before the damn (the clearing after the tunnel), the game might decide to eat them so watch out for that. It happened to me almost every time that I did Sierra and I always lost battle and beam rifle ammo because of it.

To each his own...I say it's more worth than spraying it with Missile Pods for 20 minutes. If you think about it, the random factor is bigger when using this method, you're standing still, marines are around you, plus, 20 minutes is a lot of space for random cone cousins to splatter you *Cough*matclansplatter*Cough*.

I hope I'm being reasonable enough, but if I'm not, shut up, you're educated with jobs and I'm in still young and in school right now. =)

Anyway, In my opinion (in my opinion(in my opinion)), I think that the only risk when you board the scarab is that you'll do the mistake to get yourself cornered by the enemies, there are ways to make it easier than one might think. Hell I finished that Storm run on my first try and it was my first time in a long time I did serious Mythic. So if you're actually skilled and if you know what you're doing, you should be fine. There's one thing when something is more risky because of the random factor but there's another thing when something is more risky because it just might be a little harder. When you take you risk in some area where anything random can happen, you need luck. If you take the risk in some area where it's just harder, you need skill, like the Scarab.

As I said, to each his own, it's not like you're Darwin and I'm God. So don't try to plan on coming over to kill me. =)

Oh and one thing....I know you want your walkthroughs to have as little risk as possible....but when I'm doing Mythic, with or without walkthrough, there has to be some risk! ;) I'm not saying that I'm a kamikaze expert - Because obviously I'm not.

That's what got me killed before when I reached the dam. I was hoarding Plasma Pistols but my Sniper Rifle disappeared in mid juggle and my BR and Carbine were already low on ammo so I had no response to the Sniper Jackals or Brute Chieftain which ended up in 20 minutes of cat and mouse as my ammo dwindled and the enemies finally got lucky,
Thanks for the advice though, I'll try to only juggle minor weapons into the cave area.

Well I did it, and I reckon it's a much more enjoyable mission than Sierra 117, so I'd say give it a go.
In actuality I had so much screwy stuff happen last night that I was amazed to succeed, from BRs disappearing to having a Fuel Rod barely miss the Chief's crotch, it all happened.

Thanks. I wasn't actually expecting to succeed when one of the Pilots ran off with my Hornet for the Scarab fight. It ended up becoming a messy affair involving just my Tank and the Scarab's AA Gun which got a few good shots on me. Honestly after that hit me a few times I was expecting to be a goner, but on exiting my tank to check my shields apparently I still had a small amount of shield left which really had me surprised.
I was rewarded though by Spark showing a single, driverless Prowler what he was made of via his angry death beam.

So he finally used the damned thing on someone besides the Chief. lol!

I actually managed to get a Killtastrophe on that mission last night when my laser punched through two weak Prowlers at the same time. I saved that one :-)

Shame the Anouncer isn't on Campaign isn't it? I love it when he declares some of the rarer medals, like when my brother got a Perfection on BTB last night (somehow this was on 3 way splitscreen lol). He'd have to say "Perfection" after each Mythic run. :-)
Oh, BTW is it usual to have Arbiter be somewhat reluctant on the approach to Truth but for him to take the Citadel like a 100 metre sprint on the exit? I only stopped to teabag Truth through the pedestal and Arby was by the lobby fighting a load of Flood aleady. I just stayed back and let him get on with it (there were a lot of dismembered limbs flying around).

Sierra 117 is one of the three toughest missions, so absolutely. The Covenant is far easier due to the fact that for roughly half the mission, you'll have a Marine accompanying you with the Spartan Laser.

EDIT: I may see if I can get at least one charge left for the final sequence so I can pass it on to Arbiter. Can he use it? I've never tried before.
