Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

I just wanted to post a reply here thanking you for your awesome walkthrough Tyrant122312. There's no way I could have completed Halo 3 on Mythic difficulty without it.

I decided to start my Mythic quest in January, and after many hours, I finally managed to complete Sierra 117. Yes, that's right, I wanted to tackle the Mythic levels IN ORDER!

After finally beating Sierra 117 I felt pretty comfortable with Mythic and what it entailed. This was confirmed when I completed Crow's Nest on only my second attempt. Your walkthrough for that level was amazing. Especially the ranged shooting used in the doorway leading to the car pool. That was inspired!

The next three levels fell pretty quickly but then I hit a stumbling block... The Ark. That level was so large that it was quite demoralising having to play through over an hour of the same bit again and again only to die and have to repeat it all. After many fruitless attempts I ended up taking a break from Mythic for three months...

Anyway, I decided to give it another go 10 days ago and finally managed to beat The Ark!!!

The rest, as they say, is history.

To anyone reading this who hasn't actually tried Mythic yet, please give it a try. The feeling you get when completing one of the harder/longer ones is amazing. I was literally shaking near the end of some of them. The buzz I got from beating Sierra 117 and The Ark easily rivals that which I felt when getting my 45 in matchmaking.

So, once again, thank you Tyrant for your awesome walkthrough. If you could add me to your list of Mythic completers, (post-walkthrough of course!) that would be great. It would also be an honour to join your group.

Regards
Phil

Truth. I'm quite sure that Rabbit will get the 15th spot, and then maybe as long as these folks don't keep popping up out of the blue I'll have the 16th. That is of course unless Shadow gets his Mythic groove on.

Yeah, it's a good surprise though, even if it makes those of us who participated a lot in this thread feel a little put out that some folks can do it without a friendly hint or two from other conquerors. If I've got time I think I might watch his runs just to see if he deviated from the walkthrough at all.

Ah, exams. I've got them too and they're slowing my progress down. But soon I'll have study leave and I'll study me some Halo. :-P
...and some other stuff of course... :-(

At the moment I really feel like making a good attempt on The Ark. I don't even know why seeing as I've already nearly got Sierra 117 completed, I just really want to do The Ark for some reason...

man, i did TONS of things different from the walkthough. i wanted to test my own skill and resourcefulness in the campaign.i wanted to go through the trial and errors of mistakes and successful attempts at parts of each mission.overall im really proud of myself. ive thought of making my own walkthought but besides the time i do not have, my capture card is low quality and i have no way to record my voice.i just dont have the money.all my money goes to bills and my drums/music.

im trying to get this done soon.in 2 weeks im moving to seattle. driving from florida to settle down and begin my life and REstart my career there.so i only have 2 weeks to get in the mood for the ark and to go back and REbeat sierra 117 for the player page award on halocharts and to FULLY prove that i did it all on mythic(for those that dont think im eskimo).

wow, didnt expect that from phillip. he is a good buddy of mine over at halocharts and dedicates a lot of time into our campaign challenges and the community.i really wanted that 14th spot but ive spent the last 4 days NOT doing mythic, all i have left is the ark too......it really depends on when i decide to spend the hours to do it. even a complete run is going to take me at least 2 hours.that doesnt include all the times i fail and have to back out and start over.

I've enjoyed picking my way through things somewhat bullishly too. I think the last time I actually looked at the Walkthorugh was when I was suffering on Cortana which will have been before Christmas last year. Otherwise I've been getting different views and videos from this thread and mixing a few things up myself and it's been a lot of fun. I think I even showed Tyrant a way to improve his safer way to get the Warthog and Mongoose to the ridge outside Tower 1 on The Covenant the other night. We both found that it's also quite satisfying and amusing to slap a stupid Grunt around for a while too.

Also this probably sounds like doing things in reverse order, but I've completed the Sierra 117 Halocharts challenge and it looks sort of out of place next to my Mythic awards so after Mythic I'm going to get all the Halocharts Campaign awards for both Heroic and Legendary.
:-)

Well, here comes SHADOWSTRIKE1 to ruin the party :D

Well, threw in a run of Covenant, and made it up to the Scarabs. Pro? I'd say so, seeing as how it was my first time passed tower 1 lol.

I also found a special little trick to skip most of Tower 3, which I've mentioned to Tyrant for his 2.0 guide.

But ya. That's where I'm at. I expect to have Covenant finished tonight. Then Tsavo tomarrow, and maybe finish off Sierra 117. Then Cortana, then the Ark, then Crow's Nest, and then... THE WORLD!

That's bad thinking. If you think too far ahead with Mythic you become complacent and make mistakes, I know because it's happened to me all too many times at the end of a mission only to get complacent and fail.
Also what method did you use for the Scarabs tonight? I'd strongly not recommend anyone doing it the way I did (which was borne from desperation fo the marines stealing my Hornets) and using only the tank which doesn't have the speed to avoid Scarab attacks, and it's also not manoeuverable enough to risk fighting multiple Prowlers/Ghosts. Banshees are a problem too if you're not expecting them.
That said, good luck and enjoy the double fireworks display. ;-)

i actually killed 1 scarab from a distance and then went on the field with my tank, took down the second one, hopped on and beasted it up. the banshees had ALL of their attention on my Gauss warthog.a simple 1.2 with my PP and the brutes go down, then the scarab went down with an uppercut to its glass.........butt. my hornets got destroyed so i had to do what i could.i was thinking about just killing them both with the hornet but i was so far in the mission to try, maybe some other time....

well im officially stuck on the ark.the prowler method doesnt work 100% of the time. even with a well placed rocket to end the 3 vehicles it usually only kills 1 chopper, if im lucky.so i guess thats a 1/100 shot in killing all 3. my rocket guy NEVER EVER EVER EVER kills a thing. he shoots in the sky, way to the left, way to the right but he NEVER comes close to hitting an enemy vehicle. my turret guy usually takes out a vehicle and then they are usually killed by a chopper or a gang band chopper attack. leaving me helpless or dead if they flank me.

its not working.im going to sneak around the whole beginning, get the chopper and kill everything myself.seems easier that way.

Tyrant, isn't the missile pod method on the storm with the scarab part safer then the 2.0 one?

Yes and no. The problem with it is if the AA gun starts shooting, you may or may not be able to get out of the way in time. And since it takes a good 20 minutes or so to actually destroy the thing, that means you have to worry about it happening for 20-30 minutes. In 2.0, it always moves in the same path if you scale the crane on the left. Just take out the Grunts first and jump on board with a loaded plasma pistol and stickies.

So you start with insults and then say you want to try Mythic? That's quite a contradiction, and it's also not very good to generalise and stereotype peolple you don't know, I'm quite sure that most of the people in this thread all either do quite well at shool or have a job and a social life to boot. Halo 3 is still a game and therefore meant for recreation despite the many different ways of being able to play it. Mythic difficulty is still part of this game and is more like a brain teaser than a test of skill (of course if you can't shoot without a reticle it takes a little more getting used to, but generally I view it as a relaxing puzzle, similar to puzzle balls which you can take apart then reassemble).
Oh and no more than 4 hours per day? That's hardly a problem, I often only play one attempt at a Mythic mission each day unless I've got a lot of free time at that particular moment or a drive to succeed. Don't flame what you haven't tried firsthand.

Wow it was just a joke.

Yeah, I mean, you can see it was meant to be a joke, but at the same time, those insults are the most common people use against video gamers, so it's easy to take offense to it.

In other news, I redid my Halo run, so that I can have stats & video proof. I even used Tyrants 2.0 method :D.

So, if any of you want to see the stats and or video, I made a post in the Quest For Mythic group forum. You'll find it under "SHADOWSTRIKE1's Quest For Mythic!"

Also, while we're on The Storm, I found that if you book it straight over to the far missile pod turret, the far AA wraith is sometimes close enough for you to lock on, and you'll have enought time to launch about 5 missiles at it before the choppers and ghosts come, so you can kill the far AA wraith quick, or at least damage it enought to make it easier for your marines.

If I've got time I think I might watch his runs just to see if he deviated from the walkthrough at all.
I would have to say I probably stuck to about 99% of the walkthrough.

I improvised a couple of times here and there and decided to try a different technique for some parts which seemed to work better for me personally, but for the most part I tried to adhere to the walkthrough.

A few differences that stick out in my mind...

Sierra 117
I didn't kill Johnson for his BR at the start. Although I understand why that was on the walkthrough, (the AR start was rubbish).

The Storm
I quite often jumped off one of the cranes onto the Scarab as it didn't turn around for me when I was on the missile pods.

Cortana
I took a needler with me through Hell's Hallway and into The Hive. I wasn't very good at jumping from the Carbine crate onto the ledge in the Hallway, so I decided to run along the floor using the needler to knock ranged flood off the ceiling onto the floor where I would then melee them. (I still had camo for when the combat forms came at the end).

Halo
I used Pahat Pojat's method of getting onto the inclined plane leading up the tower. Although I was initially using the walkthrough method and it was easy, if time consuming, to let Arbiter kill the first three waves of drop pods, it still seemed to be a 50:50 chance of whether or not I could pull off the plasma grenade/hammer jump onto the ledge. I found Pojat's technique to be quicker and easier to pull off.

I'm guessing some of this may be in the 2.0 versions I keep reading about. Where exactly can I see them?

Glad you asked :-) Each time a mission is given an "upgrade", you will notice a "2.0 Guide" link under the corresponding campaign mission in the original post of this thread. However, you can also check the bottom of my file share for the 2.0 videos I have so far. The Storm, The Covenant, and Halo are already there. Hopefully I will have Cortana and Tsavo Highway up shortly.

Yes, in Halo 2.0 I rush the tower and use the Hammer to get to the top. No grenades. I also demonstrate how to get the infinite laser from Johnson. In Storm 2.0, I board the Scarab and also show a much faster way to destroy the AA gun. Believe it or not, two direct hits from overcharged plasma bolts will take it down. Other things are done as well for that mission, such as lending the Arbiter a hand with the Hunters via the Spiker (which seems to be their weakness). Covenant 2.0 has a ton of differences from the original. Too much to explain. You'll have to see for yourself :-)

All new methods thus far have made each mission much easier and much quicker.
