Welcome back.

Now weren't you the one who attempted to go all the way through the Motor pool using stealth?

Indeed. It was most entertaining.

It's possible to take out the Captain with the Brute Shot and the two who are searching, provided you are very stealthy. For some reason the Captain isn't as observant as you'd think...you can run out the doorway when he is standing watch and he won't notice you until you get close to the shield and stay there.

Provided you assassinate the two on patrol, you can then assassinate him. Of course, then you have to run like hell because everyone left over will see you.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

The Tyrant

The "stealth method" seems to me to just be a slower way of dealing with the first few Brutes. In my Kamikaze attemps, I can actually plasma-charge two of the Brutes and stick the third. All this in roughly two seconds. To be honest, I rarely have problems with the first wave (as stated before). It usually comes later in the battle where things start getting iffy. Grenades start piling up, and the remaining Brutes seem to get braver, meaning more start coming at you at once. Because of these factors, the battle becomes increasingly difficult to manage, thus, I tend to hang out in the doorway where the Carbine Brutes are my only real threat. Well, that and my generally carelessness. lol.

Well, fast and safe isn't always very easy and the Motor Pool is a great example for that.

Using stealth, you certainly won't rush them but if you know how to do it, you're pretty much as safe as you can get.

who cares about recon? i want the flaming head!

hear this out, if you can stick the first few brutes and grab a grav lift then you could in theory wait out in the solders rooms and have enough shotgun and battle rifle ammo to (hopefully) kill them.

1 MORE SKULL TO FIND!

One word... Tilt

In short, no that doesn't work. You can't kill Brutes with projectile-based weapons on Mythic unless there armor is down (with the acception of the Rocket Launcher and vehicle/support-based weapons).

However, I did test the possibiliy of fighting from up there, and what I've found is this. If you run out of Plasma Pistol ammo (and you almost always will), you're screwed. And even if you don't, due to the quarters being so tight and the fact that they can rush your position relatively quickly, it's just becomes too much of a risk.

I should put this out there before people start tossing wild ideas into the wind. lol. I'm not looking for alternate methods for these battles. I'm looking for faster methods that are about as safe as 1.0 if not safer.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure we have come to the conclusion that there is no safer way than 1.0 to do the Motor Pool.

Right now I'm analyzing the ODST videos.

Y'know, all the symbols for the Skulls are displayed in Firefight. Fun fact: You know how the whole idea of a horde mode? Think back to Halo 2 and the battle involved for the "I Would Have Been Your Daddy Skull". It's the same thing as a horde mode, really. So Halo 2 was already there way before Gears. Lol.

Anyway, I'm looking at the skull symbols right now, and the second one is apparently highlighted where I paused the video. Seven symbols, which somehow doesn't surprise me. I have a fondness for seven, too.

Iron (It looks generally the same as the symbol for the Iron Skull)
Tough Luck (text was displayed next to the symbol when it activated)
???
???
Might be Tilt
???
???

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Let me take a guess here, the skull with one eye is Blackeye.

Remember that ODST has it's own forum now so talking about ODST is now off-topic in the Halo 3 forum. We're still talking about Mythic but if a moderator is having a rough night and wants to lock something...

The Bungie guy who is presenting the Firefight mode said that the Skulls you got in Halo 3 will be used for Firefight mode. There is 7 Skulls in Firefight mode and they are all the Skulls except Iron because that would have no effect in Firefight because you cannot go back to the start of the mission. And Fog because you have no radar anyway.

Bungie's new update gives us a bit new info, but as Gazas said, we shouldn't be talking about ODST in the Halo 3 forum.

That said, I'm sure Tyrant might understand me making a topic in the group to discuss it. Check it out.

For now, let's keep ODST out of here.

14 people have beaten the game on mythic SLASO settings. another member and myself are borderline complete.the "mythic" SLASO(Solo Legendary All Skulls On) is a settings invented by the community.its not ACTUALLY a part of the achievements.so we still have the Legendary logo for our campaign complete section.

Nice! Looks like I've gotta get my Mythic on and finish up these last couple levels!

We completed Floodgate on Tri-Mythic last night on our first attempt which was odd because it was lagging pretty badly.
Then we had some issues with The Covenant, it was minor stuff yet managed to kill us off, but not before learning some stuff. Speaking of which, Tyrant, I reviewed the film of your mystery death last night and a Brute snuck up behind you and stuck your Hornet, the clever part was that he landed the grenade between you marine and the vehicle so you couldn't see it.

lol! Well that explains it :-P I was like, if you can be killed by the Ghost of The Covenant now, I quit! lol.

In other news, I discovered something interesting about the Jump-Jet battle. You're better off leaving Arbiter in the Marines behind. If they come with you, in the time it takes to lift to the platform, run down to place the Deployable Cover, and back up to the equipment room, your allies more than likely have already killed enough of the first wave and triggered the second. This means you can't assassinate them. It's easier to deal with the first wave on your own and cheaply kill the second and third since those waves throw Brute Shots into the mix.

Right, I'll remember to ditch the backup then. Also do you have a video of using the Deployable Cover to stop waves 2 & 3 yet, or are you still dissatisfied with the Motor Pool?

I'm actually happy with the Motor Pool method I've chosen for now (the revamped S&S method). I almost completed the mission last night, but got a little wreckless when it came to re-arming the bomb. After that it was going on midnight, so I had to hit the sack. But I will try and get a full run up this weekend that displays what to do for this battle and also clarifies how to better handle the Motor Pool. I really hadn't perfected the "new" technique until after the release of 1.0.

Am I feeling a Campaign guide and a Firefight guide coming along? I know for sure there is skulls because watching the gameplay 30 minute conference yesterday. I saw on the Campaign Menu that there were Skulls. At the top it said something like "0 Primary Skulls, 0 Secondary Skulls".

That's the plan :-) Mythic will continue to live on through the generations of Halo.

So about the competition coming up, do I need to turn the video in before the 12th or on it?

It starts on the 12th. Keep your eyes on the Bungie Blog. There will be details on the Floodgate Challenge released next week to the general public.

Alright thanks

I've actually started finding that part rather easy. It's just a matter of managing from what I can tell. Have you seen my 2.0? I've started staying on the entrance level. Usually when I die there, it's a result of my Marines being stupid or me not paying attention.

Same here, that's why I have been keeping away from the entrance because the marines are actually aiming at the walls with their grenades.

If the enemies would charge up instead of standing there it would be easier though.

I've been practicing Sierra 117 as well, my only problem with this level is that I run out of projectiles after the Sniper Forest, even though you would think there's plenty of Carbine ammo in that forest, I can't get enough ammo. That, and the dam, taking care of the Sniper Jackals is easy but since I always bring a BR and a Sniper, I can't deal with the Brute down below with his Brute Shot. I prefer not to stockpile weapons
