The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

I can't really see a viable way to speed up the skirmish before the Forward Unto Dawn lands unless you could somehow steal the Wraith and use it to shell out the Covies hiding in the rocks Otherwise, a Chopper's autocannons seem sufficient to deal with everything else.

I've tried to jack the mortar wraith, but it explodes every time. It takes four punches to remove the hatch so you can headshot him. When you kill the driver, the whole thing goes nuclear. I think it's scripted that way.
You can't do it the way you get in an AA Wraith?

You may be able to. I don't know. I just know you can't do it the way you would in The Storm. I've never been able to do that glitch to get into an AA Wraith anyway ha.

I've definitely hijacked one of those AA Wraiths before. Not on Mythic, but it has been done. I'll get a picture and a video when I finally get my account back if it would please you.

  • 06.10.2009 4:49 PM PDT

ill take that as a compliment. What iv'e done is not a mistake though my friend but more of a goal or should i say "achievement". Don't worry i won't have trouble the second time.

  • 06.10.2009 5:12 PM PDT

Meh, Halo Reach time.

i've completed floodgate on mythic difficulty how do i join the mythic group?

BTW: do you need to name the video for the mythic difficulty anything special when you upload it to your fileshare?

He means the regular mortar wraith. Somebody should try the AA wraith method on the regular one, in fact I'll do that right now and post the answer in a few minutes.

To answer the question of whether you can get in the regular wraith, you can't. When attempting to do what I regularily do to enter the AA wraith, the brute drove around like a drunk and foiled many attempts that I made to press B in the area where you won't board. After a while I succeeded, headshotted him quickly and ended up entering the destroyed wraith.

Definately a Fail.

You can easily just kill the carbine brute, then grab a rocket and then get in a mongoose and head over the hill and drive off the cliff while you're passing the incoming prowlers.

I've tried that. It works sometimes. But it seems like most of the time I get picked off by the Prowler cannons. I watched your video. I usually die when that happens. Plus, if you aren't quick enough to jack the Chopper and book it, the Prowlers come after you.

Any thoughts?

Tyrant, you have to hug the wall on the far right of the prowlers, if you step away from it you WILL be killed by prowlers. I know this method works, it's my favourite and I've used it before. To get a chopper you just use a plasma pistol, but I assume you already know that. I found it to be a very simple method, but getting past the next part can be a pain.

Once you have the chopper you have to go left up the hill. This is hard to explain, but you have to do a kind of gradual curve to meet the ghost head on. Splatter the ghost coming down (it won't retaliate until it reaches the bottom of the hill). If you miss it's not a huge problem, he will usually zoom past you anyways. From there you just go between the longsword wing/body to skip the grunts that take the path next to the longsword. Make sure to stay well away from the grunts and the brute, you could get stuck or brute-shotted.

Oh, that makes sense! I always get Brute-shotted.

By the way, for anyone playing, you just lost the game.

It won't matter if you die because if you have kamikazed the previous areas and reached there in about 2 minutes.

Though, I'd add that method as a kamikaze.

Any tips in terms of where to drive the Mongoose in order to avoid enemy fire? Or a quick way to jack the Chopper? Also, do yu have any ideas on a flight path for the Chopper so the driver can get through the Long Sword area safely?

Thanks :-)

I can sort of answer that there is a tunnel that is to the right of the jump that takes you to the bottom from there you could go towards the right side and just bypass the enemies.

Oh and try and get a new method for the ark scarab i tried the rock and well it seems the scarabs legs can go through the rocks and send your tank flying towards a wall.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Wow! Lots to cover since yesterday, so I'll get started.

First off, it looks like I'll be redoing the Covenant 2.0 guide. It seems that in the process of just toying around with the mission yesterday (and a little help from Shadow's Tower One method), I am now able to get from the start of the mission and exit Tower Three in 14 minutes.

Unfortunately, I did something stupid afterwards that killed me, so just for giggles I loaded up the checkpoint and continued onward to finish successfully. The total run took around 40 minutes which is half the time of the previous 2.0. More to come on that later.

In regards the the AA Wraith post, I've jacked on of The Ark's AA Wraiths before, but it's not very good against the enemies you'll be facing. Since the FRG rounds are so slow, they usually dodge them. It also seems to take forever to kill the Hunters thanks to the Mythic skull. In short, for that stretch of the mission it's better to use the Scorpion.

I may try the new Prowler method tonight, but now I'm determined to finish that shortened Covenant run. I can't believe I never thought of this up until yesterday. Essentially, I rushed Tower One, rushed the Dogfight, rushed Tower Three (and the exit), and did the other 2.0 method from there with the Scorpion/Hornet. Hopefully I will have everything in 2.0 sorted by this weekend.

Thanks, now never mind Covenant 2.0, get me some Ark 2.0! :-P
In seriousness I can kamikaze the first 2 areas easily enough, but then get killed by the Prowlers. I might try mixing 1.0 and 2.0 again and see what half baked creation I can come up with.
Oh yeah, are we getting back to Tri-Mythic tonight now that I've got my account back?

Yup. And now that we've figured out how to basically speed through everything up until the Scorpion gets dropped off, we'll get more shots at it this time.
