Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.
I know. I know. It's been a while. But... I finally did it!. I had a random urge to fire up the Storm, just a try or two. Anyway, I found it amusing that I finally succeeded, especially on this run, since everything went wrong.
First my marines almost killed me in the first room, since throwing grenades over the box is something they have yet to master. Then, at the first chieftain, my warthog disappeared, and I came back to find a few brutes, grunts, and jackals all waiting for me.
By some miracle I managed to get past them. Everything was going nicely until the Scarab. I decided to continue to use the missile pods, instead of jumping aboard. My marines were causing lots of trouble, and I missed a few easy shots at the core. I eventually got lucky and slipped one in. 5th time is the charm, right?
Armed the Arbiter up, he charged in and prompted died, leaving a room full of brutes and just me. I got lucky and a brute committed suicide, then I got a incredibly lucky stick, and the Arbiter came back. Then he died again against the the Hammer chief, and a good 30 minutes of cat and mouse ensued, until I managed to take out his brute escort, and the Arbiter finally woke up and killed the Chief.
I made my way (very, very cautiously) to the AA gun, killed all the grunts, and took down the Fuel Rod cannon chief's shields. Strangely he didn't retreat, so I backtracked and gave him the taste of a few rockets. After that, I plasma pistoled the AA gun, and finally...
It's been what, 3 months? Granted I didn't try very much. I just about gave up after the 4th death in the warehouse, but I don't know, there is something awesome about Mythic. Even after all those failures, there is nothing like beating the level. I don't think I've ever properly thanked everyone here, all the help and suggestions given by all of you. Thank you. And thank you, Tyrant, for writing such a great guide, so those of us with... Less determination? can manage this.
At this rate, I might finish my next level by ODST. : )
