Could anyone please tell me who has the fastest time, and what it is? I have a ridiculously fast time and i also wanted to know how many people have beaten this successfully.

4:50 is alright first try. I've achieved 4:16. The fastest is 4:06.

Ugh. The Ark...
Twice now I've reached the room with the War Chieftain hefting a Plasma Cannon taking almost 2 hours 30 minutes to do so. Then both deaths have been my own fault, first I killed a bodyguard next to his master and so there were loose grenades in the area. BOOM, dead.
Then I took a small amount of damage whilst crossing the room to kill the Brute Shot guy in the left corridor, knowing full well I was going to assassinate the Chieftain I tried to get an assassination from this guy too, needless to say that such corridors are not suited to dodging enraged Brutes.
What really bothers me however is that the hardest part of this mission seems to be the 1st 3 sections, namely the 2 bowls full of Covenant and the Prowlers. If I can get past these I can always make it to the Cartographer. Hell, I even managed to improvise my way through the part after the Prowlers with absolutely no marines present; apparently if you're at a distance with a Rocket Launcher and you shoot stationary Ghost before quickly ducking out of sight the Grunt will just accept his explosive fate. Very similar to range shooting with the Plasma Pistol really.

Also found out something that might help people interested in rushing the first two sections; if, after killing all the Jackal Marksmen on the AA Battery in area 2 you turn and look at the cliff and begin throwing grenades (Plasmas first as they seem to have a bit more kick in them for flinging scenery around) so they land at the foot of a supply crate you can lanch the crate in such a way that it pushes the Brute Captain into the pit below. It's worked for me 3 times now out of about 5, but I think so long as the angle of the throw and the positioning of the first grenade is fine you should be able to separate the Brute and Grunts. This grenade spam also briefly attracts the attention of all the Covenant under the AA Gun meaning you can usually get a few steps up the slope before they deign to notice you making their chase somewhat delayed.

NB: My Scarab also never behaves and curiosly seems completely incapable of killing marine powered Scorpions. Does anyone know why they're immune to the Scarab?

Oh and I've gotta say that Dark's Tsavo Highway run was really good to watch, it looks like that particular mission won't be a problem for people who like to rush things.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

If you're interested, my Ark 2.0 run is finally up. Let me shed some light on the situation.

Firstly, I tend to save my frags for knocking the Jackals closer to me. It doesn't always work but seems to most of the time depending on where the other enemies are located. This gives me a chance to get full shields when going up the ramp. Second, check out my method for dealing with the Prowlers. About 90% of it comes from Gazas believe it or not, but it's pretty solid. I've only died from it a couple of times, and both were my fault.

In terms of the War Chiefain you're referring to, you'll get a kick out of watching me tango with him in the video. To put is simply, you're 100% right. He's no pushover, and I have yet to figure out a better method for dealing with him. It sucks since he comes so close to the end of the mission. The good news, however, is that it's pretty much all downhill from there. If anyone has found a better method for dealing with him aside from the plasma stun/assassination technique, please speak up. This is, in my opinion, the riskiest part of the entire mission.

For the Scarab, don't worry about how he behaves. Kill all the Choppers, Ghosts, and Fuel Rod Brutes that surround him, then just shell the hull until it starts to break down. Board it and destroy the core. That's what I end up doing most of the time.

I did two things different.

1st, I use my plasma-dodge technique to kill the Carbine Captain. So far, I've had a 100% success rate with it. Then I save the last Brute (before the Prowlers arrive) to recharge my shields that were lost during the first two areas. The rest of it, though, is the same. Excellent idea, Gazas. Now if we can only find a better way of dealing with the Plasma Cannon Chieftain :-P

It sounds pretty damn good, I'm gonna watch it now. Would I be right to assume that the only enemies aboard the Scarab are some Jackals?

EDIT: Just noticed you finished 2.0 for The Ark yesterday which was my birthday, it's a pretty nifty gift lol.

I live to please :-P

Actually, the Scarab didn't have any enemies onboard, or at least not on my way to the core. The Jackals usually fall off at some point.

Just wondering, but are there any active camo's in The Ark before the stealth brutes? If there are, why not just keep one with you up until the point with the war chieftain, then just sneak past him downstairs? The only way I can think of getting a camo earlier on though is from the stealth brute on the spire after the scarab, but I think I've only ever seen him drop a radar jammer at best so it may not be possible.

Or, a more riskier alternative (which I used in my Crow's Nest 2.0 run), is to use a bubble shield right in front of the war chieftain. You're safe from him on the outside if he tries to shoot you and if you go in close, he'll try to melee you so you just have to out 'dance' him for the assassination.

No AC's before the Stalkers. Yes, you can get one from the Stalker just before you enter the structure, but it magically gets taken from you once you enter (I know it sux!). And though I realize that I can through down a Bubble and run past him. I usually wind up backtracking to assassinate the Armor Chieftain down below. I suppose I can use an AC on the way back up...

I don't know, though. Could be worth checking out.

Random thought here: We know that some missions have a "continuity" in that if you were to finish one mission youand let the game automatically start the next mission we get to keep the weapons we were carrying as mission 1 ended. Would it count as a Mythic run if you were to tip the scales slightly in your favour by, for example; bringing a Fuel Rod Gun from Crow's Nest into Tsavo Highway and handing it off to a marine?
The only currently demonstrated version of this is in the case of the Moonraker medal which requires a player to nab the secret skull from Cortana to start [i]Halo[/i[ with a Laser, but as this is a special case do the rules bend slightly or are we allowed to tweak circumstances to suit ourselves? If so there's probably quite a few interesting applications out there if a player was shooting for the Triple Play medal.

I have nothing against it. If a player can beat 2+ missions on Mythic Difficulty in a row, by all means, have at it.

Well, my rushes on the Covenant have gotten better. Made it up to the top of the last tower in around 12 minutes...then I died from an enraged Brute when I forgot my surroundings. You cannot dodge left where there is a wall right next to you on your left.

I figure I'm going to use Rally Point Alpha on that level to bring a Magnum in to that tower so I can have a one-on-one shoot out with the Chieftain so I can test the effectiveness of it. Even if it does work like I want it to, there are no Magnums on the Ark.

After that, I guess I'll do some messing around on the Ark and see if I can't improvise another way to fight that Chieftain.

Notes so far: The Magnum's stun effect works well as an approach on War Chieftains. One shot will keep them stunned for a brief period in which they cannot fire. The duration of this period likely depends on where the Magnum hit them. I.E.: A shot to the leg causes them to drop to a crouch before getting back up, as opposed to a shot to the upper body causing them to stagger backward. The shot to the leg appears to leave them open for longer periods. The Magnum makes a back-attack incredibly easy on approach as well as in close proximity, where it can act as a makeshift Plasma Pistol stun that can be used more than once. In short: the Magnum is useful. This stagger effect applies to Grunts as well, I've noticed, but they are smaller targets. I'm unsure how it effects berserking Brutes, however.

Link to brief video in a bit.

Were it so easy. I could try the Sentinel Beam, but I doubt that will work the way I want it to. I just got to a save for fighting War Chieftain. I'll see if I can't think up...something.

While using the BR and Sword, I got to the final area, but I died because the Arbiter fell off the cliff somehow and I had no backup, lol.

When you go to melee to get your health back while playing mythic difficulty, do your shields completely recharge when you hit an enemy, or is only a small amount regained?

Full Shields. But beware, they do not regenerate back instantly. And if you get hit whilst they are regenerating, it will interupt the regeneration.
