i finally beat halo after a total of 5 hours.
god damn guilty spark gets my everytime.
but the warthog part was pretty easy and so was floodgate.
i am going to try to beat all levels on mythic.
that is going to be a big challange(cortana, covenant, the ark)

for me spark is the easiest part of halo, you jus thave to jump over his lasers.
The things that got me were
- getting killed before I could do the hammer jumps
- warthog run (getting flipped and falling through holes)
- killing johnson and accidentally having him fall of the map so i cant get this laser

Finishing Halo on Mythic was definitely one of the most exhilarating moments I've had in a long time. Shields go critical, sentinals everywhere, explosions and that final moment of self-satisfaction was amazing. I'm really liking this challenge. Gives me a whole new respect for the first players who accomplished it.

I love hearing things like this. This is the main reason why I'm encouraging people to get more into the whole Mythic concept. Sure, it may sound grueling and impossible, but once you get into it, it'll be the most fun you'll ever have with the Halo 3 campaign.

It's also the saddest moment in Halo when you finally finish. Well... at first you get really happy, and then you feel relaxed, and then you go sadface...

The winner of the Floodgate Challenge has been notified via Bungie.net Private Message. If you didn't receive a message, keep trying. We have nine more challenges and nine more chances for you to win Recon!

I read this, and scrolled up to the top of the page, and saw I had a message... My eyes twinkled as I clicked to view messages... someone wanted me to join Project Hayabusa or something stupid like that... sigh...

Well, I've been practicing for next week. It's Storm, right?

It could've been worse, right? The message could have been frome me:

Title: Summer Mythic Recon Challenge

Body: Just wanted to say hi ^_^

Ha. I wouldn't have done that though. Lord knows what the consequences would have been. I know how you folk in West Virgina can get. I saw Deliverance...

;-)

Come on man. That's the easiest part of the level. That's usually when I start taking bites out of the food I bring to my xbox with me.

All you have to do is stand completely still, and he will shoot to either your left or your right. Then just step slightly the other way, and he wont hit you at all. Easy mode.

Oh no. You would do that. And had you done so, a thousand nations of the Persian empire would descend upon you.

Not going to lie, the main reason I did this challenge was because I saw the word Recon. Then after beating Floodgate, I fell in love with Mythic. It isn't even about the armor anymore, it is about having fun and feeling the accomplishment of beating a level on Mythic. Since Floodgate, I have beaten Halo and Tsavo Highway. The Storm is next on my list but the most random things seem to kill me.

No prize for me :-P And I've only got 5 more of those potential 9 challenges. If only I could have done The Ark before the 14th lol.
Still, something just occured to me; according to Bungie there are about 500 non-employess with access to Recon, whereas there are only 17 people currently recorded to have completed the Campaign on Mythic difficulty. I know which demographic I'd rather fall under, and it happens to be the one that won't be "the new Hayabusa" by the time ODST hits shelves in September. ;-)

Eh, and I agree with Shadow about what completing Mythic feels like, first I was sort of numb and it hadn't sunk in. Then the next day I realised that I've got to wait until September before I can have a real personal goal in Halo again. Nothing really compares to completing Mythic, I'd say its a bittersweet realisation.

MATCLAN that is going to be the case for most of us sadly, I know that chances of winning this summer mythic challenge are slim to non but at least it brings a new play style to Halo 3 campaign which most people didnt see at the beginning of Halo 3, me being one of these people (O_o) I agree with both you and Shadow!

I'm not in it to win anything, really it just passes the time and makes sure that I don't blunt my Mythic skills. I was helping my brother on The Storm today and I was showing him how to pass certain sections and I honestly amazed myself at the huge difference between me now and when I first completed The Storm, sections that would previously have taken me several attempts just melted away as though the difficulty was set to Normal or Heroic. It just goes to show that you learn a lot from challenging the best Halo 3 has to offer.

Also if I did win Recon from one of these contests I'm not sure I'd feel that I earned it for just one measly mission. Realistically I'd like it so that everyone who completes Mythic (or at a bare minimum the first 20 to do so) would be awarded with Recon because in my opinion they've done something very few poeple even consider: they push the boundaries of the game to the maximum and by doing so show dedication & support for Bungie. This has always been my view even before I became a conqueror lest anyone accuse me of having ulterior motives.

I'm agreeing with both paragraphs. I've noticed how much better I have been at campaign and once I've nailed something mythic a couple of times, I can breeze through the area, the only struggle is doing it initially. Will be showing a mate (Harty if u read this ur a bell :p) and also reminding myself of how to tackle the storm tomorrow so I can get ready for the upcoming challenge and help the one friend who I've convinced to do mythic who seems determined enough. Sierra... leaving it for a couple of days but not too long as I want to do it before The Covenant's turn in the challenge, so I can try that.

I second that! I am honestly tired of every contest for Recon being some sort of "random drawing(nothing against the Summer Challenge, it's awesome, just saying though)" You have to admit, even the screenshot contests are rather random in that they depend on the taste of the "judge."

The largest amount of exclusivity any of us could have with recon now is a measly sixty-one days.

Well, I would like to put a signature here, but I can't think of anything interesting and creative...?

HAHA at Tyrant ^
that would be terrible.

But I finally finished Halo today! Woot woot!

And wow, this is really fun! I can't wait to do the rest of the levels... ^_^

I sent my PM to Tyrant with the hyperlink to the Film on my File Share and another link just in case to the game in the Game Viewer, that's all I had to do, and I did it right, verdad?

Friendly until Fired upon

I'mma try again at halo (did floodgate)
It shouldn't be too difficult I did the last level with black eye on (without dying) so I'm hoping I'll be fine when I finally get to it

He speaks the truth. The Covenant, Sierra 117, The Ark, Crow's Nest. Only a handful of people will complete these missions. Floodgate, Halo, Tsavo, The Storm have lower chances of winning because more people will be able to complete them. Cortana is in the middle, people may not attempt it because they see it as hard.

That's why I'm kind of annoyed I'll be on holiday for the last three missions. Those are going to be the contests in which only experienced Campaign players will compete in and the chances of someone who actually deserves Recon obtaining it is increased to a much more acceptable level.

EDIT:
The largest amount of exclusivity any of us could have with recon now is a measly sixty-one days.

That's possibly an arguable point - what if (as I hope) that one of ODST's Vidmasters involves at least a large section of the Campaiggn on Mythic, say at least 1/3rd of the Flashback missions or something.
Other than that I agree in a way, but it could be said that Mythic Conquerors have their own variant of Recon on Halocharts by means of the set of 10 Mythic awards. I'd be willing to be a lot that there's a lot less "Mythic Master" awards floating around than sets of Recon armour.
Speaking of whihc, I'm still waiting for HC to put the last two awards on my page. :-P

I would really appretiate that :-) Thanks! It was pretty popular during the Floodgate Challenge.

So I just watched the Tsavo Highway video, and something has me confused. How did he trigger the cutscene at the end? I was under the impression that you had to kill x-number of Brutes plus the Chieftain. I've had occassions where I brought down the barrier, left the Brutes alive, but all I could do was wander around inside the tunnel.

I thought that at first too, however the impression I get from Pahat and Dark's videos is that you only have to kill the Shade turret and deactivate the barrier before moving forward a little to trigger the cutscene. I could be wrong though, but those look like the two key objects in the section.

I have to kill every Brute before it appears ( tried it on normal legandary and heroic).
Thanks to this vid I know a route to dodge the wraiths ( I hate that part :x ) on a safer way then I did it on legendary.
