My SLASO for today is finished

Conclusion: Unbelivably close to finishing Tsavo Highway, I reached the last area and had 2 enemies left and the guy with the Plasma Turret killed me. I'll hopefully finish it tommorow.

Dying so close to the end can get frustrating, I know. When you get that far, just use the Wraith to blast everything from a distance.

Don't give up then! If you can get that far then it shouldn't be long before you finish it.

Good choice. The Storm is one of the easier levels after Floodgate and Halo.

It truly is. A total tie between the Storm and Siera 117 (which would be far simpler if not for that first battle! ugh!)

Well, I don't know if I'm crazy or not, but I started my quest for SLASO today and I must say, it is VERY challenging.

Floodgate was an easy level to start on - I knocked it out in under half an hour. Then I went to try Halo but after dying twice while driving the Warthog at the end I decided it was time to try something else... the Covenant, which brings me to my question:

How can I survive the first vehicular battle with the Wraith and the Prowlers? I can get past the Ghosts (but they always take out my shields) but one of the Prowlers usually ends up killing me.

Also, something I found helpful: If you plan to skip the whole first battle by sticking to the wall on the right, grab some stickies after you kill the grunts by the downed Pelican; they make quick work of the Shade turret on the way back.

Good job with Floodgate. I wouldn't get too discouraged about Halo, just practice the Warthog escape part and you'll get it sooner or later.

The Covenant is one of the more tactical levels in SLASO. You might hate me for saying this, but you can't use a single shot from your laser in the initial battle. That means you're gonna have to take out all those Brutes (Including the Chieftain) as well as both shade turrets without it. Once you finish this part, let one of your marines hold on to the laser since they have infinite ammo with it. Afterwards, when you get to the area with the Wraith and the Prowlers, you should use your first two shots on the Wraith and then give the laser back to a marine and let him take out the shade turrets and prowlers. If you need anymore help, Tyrant and I will be glad to ask questions, or you can check Pahat Pojat's or my fileshare for successful runs of each SLASO level.

While I applaud Starocean's efforts on this one, there is in fact a FAR easier solution :-)

As soon as you land, head out to the sea and go as far as you can. Follow the invisible wall and start heading in the direction of the Cruiser. The enemies on land will completely ignore you. Once you reach the canyon (like you normally would) you'll notice the shade turret, Grunts, and Jackals are all missing. Keep heading towards the first tower until you hear the Marine say they've eliminated the anti-air. Basically, the game kills them all for you, but not many people know that.

Then backtrack to the beach. Now the turret will be up and the Grunts and Jackals will be there as well. Kill them all, head down to the beach, and towards the Warthog. Give your laser to the Marine in the passenger seat. Between him and the gunner you will be able to take out everything between where you are now and the first tower. If I can get a short enough video, I'll upload that little segment to Geevee.]

EDIT: The only downside to this method is that it prevents you from jacking the Anti-Air Wraith which can make the next area a LOT more fun :-)

It may be a bit "cheaper", but trust me when I say your girlfriend won't think you any less of a man :-)

Running through what ever areas you can is completely within the rules. How else could any of us tolerate Cortana? :-D

By the way, Star, you did inspire me on The Storm to start missile podding the scarab right when it lands. did you know you could actually kill it that way if you're fast enough? I downloaded your vid and liked it. I still can't believe I went through all the trouble of confronting that last group of baddies when i could have just stood back and shot the cannon straight into the AA gun. *facepalm*

Main thing I did different was jack the purple wraith in the first lake bed and turned it on everyone else. If you hide in that little traxus box, it lands with its back to you. I use a PP charge to disable it, then jump on top, PP/BR combo the gunner (which can't shoot at the back of the tank), then bash the tank until the door comes off. Then I BR the Brute inside and go from there. Works roughly 95% of the time in terms of getting past the area..

True, running through is a legitimate strategy, but I try to do it as little as possible.

I did know you can blow up the scarab with the missile pod, I actually did that on my first try. I tried to do it again on my successful run, but it just wasn't working that time, so I decided to do it the old fashioned way. The marine who got on it afterwards nearly killed me with it, lol.

Yeah, the last area was just too risky for me, so I did it the cheap way :)

Jacking the Wraith works too, either way works fine. I just don't like getting hit by the banshees that come in afterwards.

Here's how I avoid the banshees. If you're close to the door, a trigger blows up both of them (and also keeps the Covenant from coming out with their plasma turret). Just remember to keep an eye out for any stray grunts from the battle going on inside that might start chucking those plasmas. They just love to do that you know >_>

I've got some footage of a missile pod Marine launching missiles and having them fly litterly a foot from my head. When will they learn?!

Video proof with Campaign scoring is the best way, but you can also look up your Campaign stats to see every game you've played. Even then though, there are a lot of people that use the save and quit trick and claim they have done it. You can tell if they have if their completion times are unusually short.

You're welcome! I'll be getting video guides up soon, but I want it to be more than that. A huge portion of my SLASO run was largely based on luck. Right now I'm going back through and searching for methods that work at least 90% of the time so that the player stands a much greater chance at getting through them. I will be including voiceovers and surveys of larger battle areas such as those of Sierra 117.
