Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

Hey guys, just wondered what you'd say is the best approach for Tsavo Highway. I usually kamikaze the first part up to the first shielded door, but that is normally where I die. The Fuel rod, Choppers, Shades, and occasionally snipers will usually end me before I can pass through. I have luckily beat it once or twice but luck was NOT on my side when I was killed by the final wraith, when it's turret was dead.
When I managed it, I just kamikazed all the way to the Broken Path. It only really worked if I went up to the shield door with quite a bit of shield left, and even then, I died a few times. The nice thing is that there is a Regen right after that part, where you can get a free shield recharge. Rushing it is just a whole lot of luck, so it might just save time to do it the slower, safer method. It's nice that it's divided up into areas, and you can choose to rush or not.

As for the wraiths, that's where I had the most trouble. I sort of winged it. Once I took care of one of the gunners, I think my Plasma pistol ran out, because I was having trouble hitting the gunner. I ended up going up on the ledge on the right, where you shoot the shade, and then running back around when I got their attention. They kept their backs turned, and I managed to hop aboard one before it turned all the way around.

hey tyrant i just want to inform you that you should Make it clear to the player tha if they were ban at anytime in their career that they will not get recon on the Summer Recon Challenge, because i did the recon challenge not knowing that i wouldn't win the challenge because i was ban so i thought that was going to get anything out of that time i put in the challenge, but i im glad that i found slaso. Thats all i wanted to tell you. Thank you for your time.

I just found this little bundle of joy in my inbox. I'll be nice and protect the identity of the sender, but here's an example of someone who doesn't know how to read the rules despite the constant reminders. Do NOT be like this kid!

Um, I am not trying to make you mad or anything, but why do you assume everyone is a kid? It just doesn't make any sense what-so-ever. There are people out there that aren't kids (including me, and from what it seems like you too) who play Halo 3, and they might want to take a run at SLASO. And at least he was nice enough to say "Thank you for your time", and that shows some sense of maturity. Now, again, i don't want to make you mad, but I just find it weird that you think everyone is a kid...You assumed earlier that i was an "idiot" "lazy a$$" and "full of myself" (Those are the exact words and you might still believe them) when you don't even know me or that guy that sent that message. Now I do respect that you protected his identity, but I think you have to protect a person's identity who sent you a PM in the forums, and the guy who sent the message didn't read the rules (ain't going to protect him on that)....So, sorry if this made you mad or anything of the sort, but I just wanted to give my two cents on the subject.

Thanks, or Sorry,

Feet first into heck!!!

If I was to recieve that message in my inbox, I would also assume that who ever sent it was below the age of 10 based on his grammar and spelling abilities, and therefore, a "kid".

P.S. Tyrant isnt that much different from the rest of us, he just happens to be a really cool guy with a passion for Mythic. He gives props where props are due, and insults where insults are due.

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

To whoever was talking about brutes i had a starnge glitch in one of my storm attempts i used my PP to knock of a brutes armour he charged at me i had my BR out firring at his head and there was blue crackles coming off him he still had his shields even though i knocked them off so i just melee'd him in the back.

Halo is the ultimate story of why humans will always survive. We will never be defeated and will always persist. Our spirit and will to live is too strong.

How do you submit your entry its really getting confusing?

Just PM the link of the fileshare video to Tyrant. Make sure the video has Mythic somewhere in the title or description.

Maybe I just need more patience.
On a side note, Mythic is the bomb. Believe it or not, I feel I will eventually complete it. Since I'm a 5-star I has really lost interest in matchmaking, so boy was I glad whne this 'Summer Mythic Recon Challenge' came around. So thanks for all of your help guys.

Well, there are several ways to complete Tsavo Highway. One is to follow the guide and you do need a lot of patience if you do it this way. The other way to deal witht he section you're stuck at is to take the Troop 'hog at the start and as you move forward collect every Beam Rifle you find and give them tot he marines in the back of the Warthog, the passenger should receive the Fuel Rod Cannon as usual. This allows you to kill most Brutes at a range the chain gun wouldn't even fire at. I's also useful if you don't plan on rushing the first blockade as the marines can snipe all the Jackals for you.
Also, just remember that a lot more of the walls and scenery can be walked/driven on than people assume; with a 'hog full of Snipers you might wanna get creative.

Speaking of the Troop 'Hog, I used it to kamikaze my way through the first half and it seemed like I took much less damage with it, was it a coincidence or are the Troop 'Hogs a little more protected? I literally got mauled down by two turrets and lost like a quarter of my shields only. Taking the same path with a normal Warthog, I died almost instantly, another try and I did it with no shields. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the two regarding this?

Never really noticed tbh. I might experiment without Blind sometime so I can see the shield bar and compare. I'll get back to you on it next time I go online.

Nope, but if you know me, then you know there's one thing I can't stand and that's a lack of common sense. Now, had this been a mere question rather than a direct accusation, I probably would have just deleted it and left it at that (as I do in most cases).

Why do I jump on people for not reading the rules? I can't tell you how many times we've flashed the link in both threads and on the b.net homepage. Does it not make sense that before you participate in a difficult challenge that it's best to know everything that's involved?

Oh, well I am not trying to say that it isn't right for jumping on people for not reading the rules, that is a good thing in my opinion...It keeps them on their toes :-) And yes you should know everything about the competition before participating...But I wasn't getting at that, I was just wondering why you called him a kid that is all.

Does anyone know how many people have submitted entries for these weekly Mythic challenges?

I am curious to know how many people are participating/actually beating these levels.

I am willing to bet that the number sharply dropped off for this week...

Floodgate had over 300 submissions or something like that, the numbers were still big in Halo but they probably will drop this week.

The Floodgate Challenge had roughly 700 valid submissions. That doesn't include all the people who sent theirs in too early or who didn't qualify for one reason or another. The Halo Challenge had about 300 valid submissions.

I'm feeling lucky too, The Storm was a breeze for me yesterday. And I just acquired a Turtle Beach Ear Force X3 headset. Mythic will never sound the same again. :-D (Grunts can't sneak up on me now that I can hear their footsteps.)
Shadowstrike recommended the Astro A40s, but they were way out of my price range, especially since I don't attend competitions and the like, so the X3s were really the next best thing, definitely a good purchase if you like to use your ears as much as your eyes, it's almost like having radar despite Blind and Fog removing it.

You think X3's make a difference Matt? I've had them for about a month now, and I've always thought that they aren't as effective in halo compared to games like CoD (where sound-whoring is the only way :] ).

I mainly use it so I can crank up the volume without disturbing my neighbors. It's also easier to control the volume from the game and the volume from the mic separately. Comes in handy when I'm in chat while playing Mythic :-)

I noticed that feature too, I might actually speak to someone online while playing Mythic now that I can keep the chat volume down when necessary. Win-Win scenario really.
