Any one have tips for The Ark, I would Greatly appreciate how to get past the part where after you kill the brutes from the 2 prowlers, then you have to dirve to the cave that leads to the LZ, because i am constantly getting killed by the other (covenant) drivers.

Alright. :-)
Firstly keep an ear open for the marines, they'll be more than happy to run you over in a Prowler at this point. Then go to the Pelican wreckage and swap your BR for the Rocket Launcher. While juggling them with the BR take the rockets to the ridge overlooking the Covenant vehicles and use all 3 rockets to destroy the two Choppers and the Ghost that you can see. Then switch to your PP (keep the Rocket Launcher even though it is empty!) and throw it off the edge by picking up the BR.
Jump down and lure the nearby Chopper over to you position, jam it with the EMP overcharge from your PP and highjack it. Then kill the ex-driver with the cannons of the Chopper. Now boost back over the ridge to the side you came from (with the Pelican) and wait for the marines to do as much damage as possible in their Prowler (they're surprisingly effective). Eventually a Grunt driven Ghost will join the fight and will either finish off the marines, get owned by the marines or come and try to jump the ridge to reach you (it doesn't always boost though so you can get comical moments of the sucker just failing and going back round for another try). To deal with the Ghost you should either begin firing your Chopper's cannon at it as soon as you notice it (ideally before it reaches the main battle) or, should it get too close, hide behind your Chopper as it shoots you then pop out and jam his engines before jacking him. Whichever is safest based on the positioning of the Ghost.

At this point you'll probably want to double back for a fresh PP at the top of the ridge before mounting the Chopper and going back down to slaughter the surviving Covenant. Just shoot them at range with the cannons and be very careful to double check for Grunts *cough*grenade*cough*.
NOTE: At this point you should still have the empty rockets and the Plasma Pistol.

As you drive past the crashed Longsword fighter you should hop out and pick up the Rocket ammo packs, there are 2 of them meaning you get 4 more rockets to use. You can't afford to waste them so only use them when I say so.
You should then come to a Warthog and a Sniper Rifle. Ignore both for now and drive you Chopper to the top of one of the small dunes nearby and let the Grunts below eat some 35mm autocannon fire. By this point you should move down and use the Regenerator if you definitely need it, otherwise you should preferably have a Bubble Shield from one of your earlier encounters. It's not necessary but is very helpful.

Drive down the small cliff and turn right, skipping the next skirmish entirely. Move forward until you reach the 2nd pillar surrounded by rocks, use this natural cover and your Chopper to hide from the pair of Ghosts just ahead. If they get too interested drop a Bubble Shield and wait for them to come close. Then lay into them with one Rocket per Ghost. If you miss one shot per Ghost then try using your PP instead as you're going to need those last 2 Rockets.
NOTE: If any marines survive up to this point let them go first and they may kill one of the Ghosts and, should they die will not become a target causing the AI to become more unpredictable.

After the Ghosts are cleared out you should double back and swap your PP for the Sniper Rifle by the upturned 'hog. Then treck back and speed your Chopper up the next incline to where another two Ghosts will be waiting before swiftly returning to your previous section at which point you should climb onto the huge Forerunner wall thing (use the rocks at the back) and whip out your Sniper Rifle. Kill a few Jackals to get the Ghosts' attention then move to the fin/pillar to the right of the one directly opposite a large rock. Prep your Rocket Launcher, then unload on a Ghost and duck behind the pillar. Similar to the "pop & shoot" used with ranged Plasma Pistol shots the Ghosts won't try to avoid their fate. Now with your main threat decimated you will want to try to snipe all but one Jackal (to use as shield regeneration later if necessary) before doubling back to collect your PP (you can finally ditch the empty Rocket Launcher, also feel free to go even further back for your BR should you want it - it's more useful than the Sniper in this next battle :-) )

Head back again and move to the position of the Ghosts you just killed. Look for a Brute wielding a Fuel Rod Cannon, he can be in 3 states; alive and well, alive but unshielded, or dead. This is due to some marines in the area previously. If he's still got his armour use the Plasma Pistol pop & shoot to take it from him, he'll then berserk rush you meaning you get an easy headshot or assassination.

Finally there should be one Jackal and about 3-5 Grunts left. Carefully headshot them and then move onto the Jackal and beat him down. (or just headshot him if you don't need shields)

And voila! You're now at the cave leading to the LZ with a fully functional Chopper.

As I know that some of my descriptions are a little vague I'll update with pictures tomorrow. As for now you can watch the film in my File Share which showcases this method, although the overall length may seem quite offputting. ;-)

Anyway, good luck and happy campaigning. I may well take up your offer of playing together sometime in your previous post if the lag isn't too bad (I'm from the UK), just drop me a FR and I'll see what I can do.

I am of an open mind and I am willing to hear criticism. Also: That's stupid and you're stupid.

This stinks, my Bungie Pro expires on the 4th, now I can't put all my new found accomplishments of Mythic in my share.

Wasn't the date much longer than this when we had the Legendary Maps?

You could always subscribe to Bungie Pro. It's what? 10 dollars/pounds per year if that? It's definitely worth consideration if you wish to continue with Mythic.
Otherwise you'll just have to remove older missions to make room for newer ones, your blog in the Q4M group should still have all of the game stats so the proof will still be there.

Just beat The Storm again for sport. Yeah, I'm gonna stick to the crane method for dealing with the Scarab. If I try the Grab Lift and miss, it usually results in me getting splattered...

Tyrant you got my entry for the storm correct? Have I been doing it correctly I think I did the floodgate and Halo entries correct but I just want to make sure since its a lot of hard work for me to get these levels done! =]

Beat Tsavo Highway! Only two wraiths spawned, made the second battle a lot easier. On the downside, no warthog was there to distract the choppers circling the wraiths, thus I took some damage, yet succeeded. I suggest kamikaze the whole first half, and then the second half slow and steady. I'm gonna wait until friday before doing it again, thus completing another level for the competition. Then its the Covenant! =)

Just managed to do the storm again for the mythic recon challange. I'd forgotten just how much random things come flying your way in covenant based levels... the scarab managed to kill me by standing on it's back plating that had been knocked off and splattering me with it. That pissed me off, but it's done now :)

You know better.

But I've actually never tried the crane method, I did it on my first Campaign run with a Mongoose up the crane. =)

Don't get me wrong. It definitely looks cool, and it's fun when I can actually pull it off, but considering that newcomers are usually already dealing with a lot of "Mythic" stress at that point, relying on a jump that requires precise timing, angling, and calculation just seems a bit rough on the average gamer.

That being said, you did inspire me to actually tackle the crew onboard different. Not from anything I actually saw anyone else do, but from the way I would handle them when I actually did pull off the Grav Lift trick. I'd immediately plasma charge the Captain, then race up to the AA Gun and take out any other enemies that tried to attack. Then I'd head down and just pick them off from each side. Little risk involved.

Certainly. Maybe it's just harder than I think it is. Again, you probably know better.

Does it not just depend on what you're used to? I mean I've only practiced the missile pod method as I don't like the idea of boarding the Scarab. I'm sure I could do it, but the idea just doesn't appeal so I stick with what I know has worked for me in the past.

Well yeah...if I don't have a Gravity Lift by the time the Scarab arrives, I say -blam!- it and restart. Using the Missile Pod would take me two hours.

Alright, I'll reiterate; I use the missile pod as soon as it lands to remove the armour plating covering the core and try to get a few extra shots in. If it survives and stats to turn I go and fetch my Sniper Rifle before tkaing it out with that. It takes roughly between 5 and ten minutes. :-P Two hours would make you seriously bad lol.

The damn missiles never take that thing off though.

And I want extra points and kills. =)
Plus, it reminds me of Halo 2 when I board the Scarab.

Boarding it from the crane is easy street if you know how to fight the enemies. Remember to Plasma charge the Captain, then move up to that little space under the AA gun to handle any charging enemies. Then you can take the sides.

I rarely die once I'm on the Scarab.

But, dude, it's scripted to walk over to whichever crane you are closest too as soon as it drops down. The only time you should have any trouble is if you don't jump on it when it first gets over there.

  • 07.02.2009 9:21 AM PDT

Dun wurry itz goin be K.

Just finished The Storm on Mythic but I was wondering if I am out of time, cause it said the challenge ends Thursday, yeah I am sorry but I just could not find it in the rules if it ended Midnight or whenever.

(Sorry for putting this in this thread instead of the help one I just did not want to make too many posts.)

Anyway what I ended up doing was using Pahat Pojat method (Its Scary how good he is) for the first Lake Bed then as it was much faster as I was getting killed a whole lot right after the Wraith part so I wanted to move more efficiently through the first half and more cautiously through the second half and all in all I would say this has been a very sobering experience that has truly opened my eyes to just how difficult Mythic really is.

The Flood levels were a cake walk in comparison. Oh and I learned getting splattered by my own Warthog is in no way a rare occurrence, stuff. flies. EVERYWHERE.

Yup. Really. That's why I use it more, because it's very predictable. Have a go at it, and give it the ol' Gazas test :-)

I will, lol. But I am stuck on the other side of the country now, when I get home, I've got to hurry up and finish Tsavo Highway for the challenge too.

Question: If I havent done the previous mythic challenges, can I still do Tsavo Highway?

The challenge ends when the next one begins. Since the next one doesn't begin until midnight tonight, you have nothing to worry about.

I decided to give Mythic a lot and now I am bad at legendary again because I am now used to BLACK EYE skull. I melee and think why wont my shields go up?

I finished the level Halo with very little help from guide(only used for Hammer Jumps, had to see how to get to top without grenade/fuelrod jumps) I did it in 23:00 minutes. Is that good?
