Any particular reason you're wondering what everyone else thinks?

We had roughly 100 entries for The Storm. That's quite a cut back from Halo. I'm wondering if we'll have more or less people try for Tsavo Highway.

Probably less, i doubt those who gave up on The Storm will come back for Tsavo, though I'm doing tsavo and not The Storm (if I can get this time done)

Only a hundred? That is another HUGE drop-off. At this rate there are only going to be a few people in the running at the end.

Good for those who stick with it. the Covenant is next and I really love that mission, but I wonder how many players will be willing to accept that this time it willbe more than an hour's slog through an extremely varied mission.

Avid gamer since 'Pong' (yeah - I'm that old).

Halo Campaigner since the early days of Halo: CE

It's how you play the game that counts most.

This is my type of mission. I like slogging - it's how I got through Halo - I slogged my way up. I've never mastered the grenade or hammer jumps - so I worked my way up. I don't go for the speed runs.

I'm going through the walk through and watching the video - looks like I better pack a picnic basket when I do this one.

I'd recommend that you practice assassinating Weapon Chieftains and fighting the Flood in narrow spaces if you haven't already completed Cortana. Otherwise just keep your cool and remember to drink water because it helps with your concentration.

Have The Storm winners been announced?

  • 07.06.2009 2:28 PM PDT

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Not yet, but the database has been turned in to Bungie, so I suspect soon.

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

I think that The Storm is easier, mostly because I've played it more, but also because Tsavo seems to decide your fate sometimes, when it comes to randomness, I choose the mission where you die more of your mistakes rather than of God's practical jokes.

I'm truthfully excited to get my xbox back so I can complete Cortana. Do you guys suggest following the guide for the whole level or maybe switching it up a little?
As for the Covenant I'm gonna go 2.0 on it.
And for those trying Tsavo Highway still good luck, the wraiths just take patience.

What about the marines' practical jokes? They always end in a bang.

Cortana eh? Experiment for this one, so much random crap can happen that you'll need to have plan A, then plan B and even plan C. In short, get to know the level inside out so that you can make tactical adjustments on the fly. This is a mission where you should expect everything and therefore be able to respond as well as possible. Learn every jump and hallway you can, alongside the spawns of every weapon and piece of equipment, then practice clearing areas with as little risk as possible before putting it all together.
Also rememebr to take advantage of the fact that Black Eye can actually be helpful from time to time in this mission (at least until Ranged Forms make your life suck) as you'll mostly be using a Sword as your primary offense. In my experience the radar stripping abilities of Fog and Blind are what make this mission so confusing and frustrating because the Flood usually can and will come from as many different directions as possible, especially since they have super jumps.

Despite this advice I still recommend that you watcht he guide as it's incredibly helpful just to be able to see that it's actually possible and you aren't driving yourself insane. Not to mention that Tyrant's calm voiceovers help on the sanity side of things too.

I appreciate the advie, I have watched the Tyrants guide inside out, and waiting for Cortana 2.0 to go to HBO (for some visuals, since my xbox is currently being repaired). I'll study taht and should be fine.

Good luck then, the only thing I can guarantee is that by the end of it you'll never want to hear gravemind or Cortana again. ;-)

After around 200 attempts when I was trying for Cortana, I think the words have been burned into my memory.

"Child of my enemy, why have you come? I offer no forgiveness for father's sins passed to his son."
"Of course, you came for her. We exist together now, two corpses in one grave."
"Time has taught me patience! But basking in new freedom, I will know all that I possess!"

Those are the 3 I never want to hear again x_x

Same. Those lines have left me mentally scarred from several weeks of nonstop Flood bashing. They offend me personally now lol.

Oh and don't forget, "You will tell me what she hides, or I shall feast upon your bones!"

Lmao Cortana sounds bad, I have a good feeling about it though.

  • 07.06.2009 6:15 PM PDT

I have started to believe that I am the Anti-Chief. We both have loads of luck, it's just that mine is all bad. Seriously, watch my video of the Storm, you'll see what I mean. Beyond that, I think I may have been sniped by my own marine on Tsavo.

Which mission do you guys consider to be easier on Mythic? Tsavo Highway or The Storm?

I thought that Tsavo Highway was more difficult. It seemed that there were a lot more places where the pressure was high. On The Storm, you could just hang back and keep out of harms way for the most part. Tsavo seemed to involve more run and gun, pray for luck.

W00T! Tsavo Highway down. Turns out I was failing at the Wraith Hill because I was coming up to shoot them at the wrong point, so I was super exposed to mortar fire. Once I figured where I'd gone wrong I got past it in a couple of tries.

Now I'll go back and do The Storm. :)

Seriously, how many shots does it take to kill a War Chieftain?

At the first vehicle barrier On Tsavo, I would always get wasted by the Choppers heading up the right hill, so instead I decided to hang back and PP the drivers out of the Choppers. Check. Next, take out Sniper Brutes in the towers. Check. Then take out a few Brutes on the ground with the Chopper. Check. This seems to make the War Chieftain retreat behind the vehicle barrier. I knocked out the barrier with a frag grenade, sniped him about 25 times and didn't get anywhere. I tried them rushing through the tunnel, but was taken out by his plasma cannon, naturally.

Any suggestions on how to deal with him if I take it slow through this section?
