Seriously, how many shots does it take to kill a War Chieftain?

At the first vehicle barrier On Tsavo, I would always get wasted by the Choppers heading up the right hill, so instead I decided to hang back and PP the drivers out of the Choppers. Check. Next, take out Sniper Brutes in the towers. Check. Then take out a few Brutes on the ground with the Chopper. Check. This seems to make the War Chieftain retreat behind the vehicle barrier. I knocked out the barrier with a frag grenade, sniped him about 25 times and didn't get anywhere. I tried them rushing through the tunnel, but was taken out by his plasma cannon, naturally.

Any suggestions on how to deal with him if I take it slow through this section?

Plasma Pistol, then BR his head until his headress comes off.

On Tsavo Highway, with the first War Chieftain, I had an interesting method. I would not go after him until his attention was elsewhere. He would go around one side of the building and I would sneak around behind him for the assassination. It worked all but one time that I tried this tactic. However, I found this area much easier if I took The Tyrant Mythic 2.0 method.

Just finished Tsavo Highway very fast actually.
It was about as easy as Floodgate for me as well, The Storm was the one that gave me the most trouble so far out of the four.

I beat Tsavo Highway in 22 minutes to me that level is much easier to beat if you just rush throuh it all until you get to the wraiths.

Can't wait to do the fifth mission =]

I grabbed the film of this from your file share. Awesome run, it took me about 40 minutes, but that's because I just couldn't get those brutes to die at the end.

Thanks for posting a new way!

You're either first or you're last.

You'll never amount to anything, go back under your bridge.

I made it near the end of The Storm when I was promptly killed by random grenades, didn't have time to try again. I'll try Tsavo Highway Thursday or so, lol.

Finally home let's hope I can clutch and turn beast mode on and go MLG in Tsavo Highway before Friday.

Gazas, seems you're famous now, seen in another thread somebody listing well known people they played with as a consellation (dno how u spell) for not playing against bungie.

Talking about Tsavo I can't see myself doing it this week, my mindset doesn't let me settle for a half-decent time just to complete it, I want this time and probably won't make the content because of trying to get it but ah well, it's fun.

Ignorance is the true enemy of all things.

Rocking Bungie.net for over 8 years!

WOOT again! Managed to complete The Storm on Mythic as well today.

Shame I couldn't do this last week. But at least I have the notch in my belt now. First try today, I got all the way past the Scarab, then somehow lost the Arbiter. Then I died to the first wave of Brutes. Tip: After killing the scarab, watch and wait for the Arbiter to get dropped off. Then follow him in to the complex. Don't just rush off and expect him to spawn next to you further ahead.

Second time, it took an absolute age in the section just after the hunters. Arby refused to move forward and take the brutes out. I ran out of sniper, out of PP and out of BR. Luckily he eventually decided to move forward with me and crushed them.

I decided to hop over the fence to avoid having to kill the last couple of enemies, but once I got to the AA gun, I realised it had stopped firing. It was really weird. So I had to backtrack to where Arby was and spawn the enemies to be able to complete the level. Managed to do it eventually though.

Assassination. Like the guy further up said. Park your 'hog behind the building with the grav lift in, then run round behind the building the Chieftan starts at, and assassinate him. It can be dangerous, but it gets him and his FRG out the way quick.

Speaking of Cheiftans, I had a real -blam!- of a time trying to get the one at the end of Tsavo with the Wraith. He kept jumping around so damn much.

GT: The Depleted

Need some advice if you could guys!

I managed to get all the way to the end of Tsavo, took out all the wraiths and having taken control of one was just starting to shell the blockade. However two of the choppers that had been circling the hill decided they would quite like to follow me across the bridge, and of course, I had my back to them - and by the time I'd realised what was going on had been promptly sent back to the beginning. Is there any method to stop the choppers from following across the bridge? Or was that just bad luck?

Nevertheless I plan on finishing it! I'm really enjoying the challenge.

Well, if you don't destroy the 2 other wraiths, perhaps you could use them as a blockade?

Huh.. That's never happened to me. I would say it's just bad luck. That's why I don't like Tsavo very much. A lot of unpredictable things happen when the covenant get their hands on vehicles.

Wow, I thought I had some terrible luck, that is just extreme. If you haven't already cleared it, I would recommend making a quick recon of the area [i[before[/i] making a run for the end. If you can scope enemy vehicles on foot, you can go back and wipe them up with the wraith.

Good luck.

Wow, I finally beat Tsavo on Mythic - I literally spent most of the day at this. Thanks Tyrant for the guide -- I had to make a few changes to suit me.
I took out everyone --even the drones -- at the first road barrier because it just wasn't working for me to speed over to the hill on the right side -- the Choppers always got the best of me. And to those that suggested it, going for the assassination on the War Chieftain makes that part a lot easier.
After dancing with the last 2 Wraiths for a long time, I cleared the Brute Blockade and entered into the tunnel -- only the end cut-scene wasn't starting. Turns out the Grunt that had been in the turret was still alive and he nearly stuck me!

I have to say, this level was a big step up in difficulty for me just due to the randomness every time you load the level. We'll see if I can tackle next week's challenge -- this is quite time-consuming...

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

Well i spent my bungie day in my bed watching harry -blam!- and Dr Phil then i gave the ark some of my day and i might have found a way to kamikaze the second battle on the ark.
After killing the 1st jackel turn to your left look up and just keep lobbing nades up where the brute and grunts would be this should make the brute stay in the cave now just run up to there like you would with the hunters but instead kill the grunts and the brute and keep going.

P.S. can someone please retest this for me.

I already tried the "nade the Brute into the hole" method. It's not reliable because the enemies are positioned differently every time and it wastes all your grenades meanign that if you don't get a kiill the enemies are jusy going to be more spread out thus taking longer to kill. Not recommended. Rather just practice running like hell then sticking the Brute from behind a rock if you need to.

Yeah, it seems that the cutscene won't start until all the enemies are dead, which is actually quite useful. You don't even have to drive into the barrier, you can just mortar it and destroy all the enemies, and the end will begin. It's a safe test.

Replace your oldest videos with the newest ones. If you make it all the way to the end, I'll have you in all nine databases anyway. Just be sure you keep those films safe on your Xbox just in case...

Possibly next week. The numbers are really starting to drop from what we originally started with for the SMRC. So the time dedicated to the subject isn't as extensive as it was initially where every time I hit F5, another 10 entries would pop up.
