Cortana done! First time finishing it so I wasn't expecting a great time. But its not too bad I don't think.
That makes... 4 so far? Who is next?
Apart from the randomness like Tyrant mentioned in this weeks post, I thought it was relatively simple mission. Plenty of ammo, plenty of equipment and just a bit of luck gets you through. I stuck to the 2.0 guide mostly but in the "Hive" room, I used a different, rushing method. Namely: Goatrope's
Instead of sticking around killing enemies, I jumped straight onto that panel, onto the second tier and around to the room with the two camo equipment. Following the 2.0 guide, this means you have 3 at your disposal here. Then, I would run out that room towards the ramp and jump onto the level above (using a sword lunge at an enemy if I thought I might fall), waiting until I was on there and running before activating the camo (so I'd have a clear run of camo right to the exit). Hop over any combat forms that need be, round the little spiral ramp, then across the ledges (not the cave at the side) at the top of the room straight to the exit. Now, with so many camos available here, even if you fail the jump or get knocked off further up (like I did! DAMMIT!) you still have plenty more to go back and try again. At least for me, that little cave and the running back up the ramp to it all seemed relatively safe. Once I'd got the technique down, I no longer failed in that area.
So, moving on to Sierra 117 now! I had a non-iron practice run that only had like, 3 deaths in it. Then straight after that I was able to get right to the damn in a proper all skull run. Before foolishly dying to a plasma grenade that was thrown up to the ledge. After I'd taken out all the jackals as well! :(
There is a lot of fighting in most Sierra routes, and that makes the level long, and there are Jackal snipers, which are a real pain in the ass as always, but I'm not really seeing why its considered 3rd hardest. The Covenant was more complex and up close than Sierra is. Sierra mostly seems to be mid-long range with a relatively low occurance of 'being in the line of fire. I excell at mid-long range. Which, I guess, is why I'm finding the level OK at the minute.
I'll see if I can complete it tomorrow and then move swiftly onto Crows Nest. Cus I know I'm gonna need loads of time to practice for The Ark.
