We already have 30 entries. I predict we will see a higher turnout for this one, which surprises me.

I'm one of them : D
I feel the numbers will go down for Sierra. And Sierra is one of my special levels, so shouldn't be a problem. Crow's Nest on the other hand, I tried it not long ago. I got to the Jackal Snipers first try and got bored, so I just charged out and died.
Its not a hard mission, just lengthy and boring. Same with The Ark.

I am a whisper on the wind...

It is a flood level. I know I had pretty much given up and decided to wait for September, but you enticed me to try again on this level.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

It can be a fun level if you're in the mood for it. It's not tough, as I've stated many times. Just random. People seem to have been injected with this morbid fear that it is by far the hardest mission in the game. It isn't. Not even close. It just has a different playstyle that people aren't used to with Halo.

I am a whisper on the wind...

True, it only took me 4 tries where on Halo it took me 8.

I keep dying on Cortana, the most random things are happening.
Random is an understatement, when I went into the projector room first time. I encountered two sword elites and a brute shot brute. Oh yea, I also had my cloaking I was saving for the hive disappear in the projector room. That is one thing I hate, randomness. The covenant was easier just because you knew what would happen, just like the storm too. Oh well, I will soon conquer it. Hopefully I will finish it tonight. I have to work tomorrow and won't get to play a lot.

I have noticed the same thing with the projector room camo. I think it may have something to do with the checkpoint that is just up from the point where Gravemind speaks in Hell's Hallway. If you turn around right after he starts to speak, the camo should be there. You may have to fight a couple flood on the way back down from not triggering that checkpoint, but it shouldn't be anything a seasoned Mythic competitor can't handle.

Is there anybody out there that can confirm my reasoning?

  • 07.20.2009 12:58 PM PDT

It's looking like I'm not gonna finish Cortana in time either =/ It's either some completely random death, or a horrible spawn for the flood.

Furthest I've gotten is Hell's Highway II. Then got mauled by a brute which was blocking the exit. =/

Also: Is it possible to juggle the spare camo in the projector room to somewhere along hells highway, that won't despawn? Would prefer to use my camo along the hells highway II route, with another ready for the projector room II.

Yup. It's even included in BOTH walkthroughs :-)

I am a whisper on the wind...

Personally I had the most trouble on the Orange room, the Pure forms just wouldn't come to me. I ended up just using a Camo and running for the exit once I got about 3/4 of the way through the room.

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

Well, I completed it, thanks to Dark's "You have to belive" which encouraged me. (And Shadow's GAZASSS)

I completed it in 13:18, I don't know if it's good or not but I'm happy with it and that I can look back at Gravemind's randomhole.

Both, the typo made me laugh when you realized it yourself and it gave me a laugh, + Shadow's comment and that made me think how stupid it would be if I didn't complete this mission.

Thanks =) I just sent the entry in.

Either you guys hate the mission so much that you can't bear to spend time crawling around in that mess or you're just damn quick. Either way it shames my 43 minutes of careful preparation and guerrilla warfare. :-P

Completing it on your first try makes up for it.

And coming up next, my first ever completed mission, and definitely not the worst. Love Sierra 117.
Yay!

Nice signature Dark!

Awesome isn't it.
Sierra 117 is my favourite mission. I'm going for 20-25 minutes on my run which I'm going to do for the weekly challenge. Hope to beat my 29 minute record, shouldn't be that hard. Anyone noticed, Pahat got 11:04 on S117 with my 2nd fight skip.

Yup. I even watched the film. Still have no idea how he pulls those sort of times off considering the general structure of that mission.
I'll just go nice and steady again and use the one thing th emission taught me against it; how to snipe with Blind. I honestly used to be totally screwed by the recoil until it just clicked and then I could land the shots. Weird, but I'm not complaining.

The reason I like Sierra is because you can skip nearly the entire mission. So if you die, you don't loose much time. I get to the Sniper Forest in roughly 6-9 minutes depending on if I skip the second fight. Crows Nest and The Ark on the other hand, I'll take slow and steady because they are the only missions I have only completed once on Mythic and I am more determined to complete them rather than completing them fast.

I don't really know how to explain this, but with slower paced missions such as Sierra I tend to play to the tempo of the mission. Then with more action packed missions such as Crow's Nest although I still take quite a while purely on the size of the level I tend to play a more risky style involving things such as rushing out to assassinate a Brute or even to save a marine (dunno why I bother though, they just kill me in exchange -_-).
I reckon it's the music, Sierra 117 has stealthy tones which encourage me to hang back and terminate everything in sight. On the other hand Crow's Nest has a more purposeful score which encourages faster gameplay.

I agree, Crows nest I was just running and gunni9ng until near the end, when i really played it safe. Sierra on the other hand, I just sit back and kill everything in sight. I have to redo it though, so if I complete the Ark I still have to complete it.
I really do love Sierra though, I just hate the first Skirmish. After that, it is so intense. Snipers everywhere, no marine to help you. Its Chief against an army. And he wins ;)

Thats probably it, I blast music really loud when playing Mythic. I dont listen to the music in game. Thats probably the cause of random times when I get stuck by Grunts.

I watch my other TV and talk in party chat while playing with the game TV on low volume, think I can pinpoint that as a problem, especially for those stickys... I am sick of the walk on The Covenant already and now I'm dying too often through frustration and impatience, or bad luck entering the tower. Also discovered not being able to use cloaking while holding another piece of equipment, such as invisibility, which ruined my great plan today :(
