I don't really know how to explain this, but with slower paced missions such as Sierra I tend to play to the tempo of the mission. Then with more action packed missions such as Crow's Nest although I still take quite a while purely on the size of the level I tend to play a more risky style involving things such as rushing out to assassinate a Brute or even to save a marine (dunno why I bother though, they just kill me in exchange -_-).
I reckon it's the music, Sierra 117 has stealthy tones which encourage me to hang back and terminate everything in sight. On the other hand Crow's Nest has a more purposeful score which encourages faster gameplay.

Thats probably it, I blast music really loud when playing Mythic. I dont listen to the music in game. Thats probably the cause of random times when I get stuck by Grunts.

I watch my other TV and talk in party chat while playing with the game TV on low volume, think I can pinpoint that as a problem, especially for those stickys... I am sick of the walk on The Covenant already and now I'm dying too often through frustration and impatience, or bad luck entering the tower. Also discovered not being able to use cloaking while holding another piece of equipment, such as invisibility, which ruined my great plan today :(

Yeah that kinda sucks, I would've liked to grab the power drain next to that terminal in tower 1 for the brutes up the lift.. Which now I think about it, I could have done, since the grunts walk off in the other direction. =/

I do grab it as I don't use cloaking when I enter the tower, I was bringing it with me but after my latest discovery I may aswell leave it outside, just incase I don't get invincibility.

I got to reactor room 2 and I dropped the BS. A combat form comes and swings and destroys my BS. I was then mauled by a tank. :( stopping until tonight.

I had a Sword Wielding flood chase me to the Pelican. Luckily he got bored and I escaped and beat the mission.
Oh -blam!- wrong account.

I didn't find Cortana that hard to be honest. I just ran through all areas (except reactor room). The Flood didn't seem to bothered with me running straight past them.

When I'm back from Denmark I'll see what I can do to give some tips on how to headshot the Marksman Jackals, since it can be hard to land a direct headshot with their "helmets" on.

Okay guys, time to help me again. So I have been trying Kamikaze on The Ark, only for the first area, but I have yet to pass to the third skirmish. i get by where the hunters would be, but by then I am shieldess, and the Brute and his grunts eat me up, what do I do?

You mean when you climb up the slope? I've had that problem too, but sometimes I can get past it. BR as many grunts you can, and when you are close enough, stick or combo the brute. Hopefully the grunts will panic (though that hasn't happen often with me), but I try to pick off a few more grunts and/or throw in a grenade or two. The Tough Luck and Cowbell skulls can help remove some of those grunts. Then pray you don't take too much damage from what is left as you run through. You have to do it quickly, otherwise the rest you left on the ground will catch up to you.

Study other's work. Pahat and others hide behind a specific rock, download his film and give it a watch.

Practice that area too, it's in the beginning, but you still don't want to die over and over...

When I come to do the Covenant I will probably take some aspects from the normal guide and some from the kamikaze guide. My only fear is that I will die near to the end, and loose the motivation to try it again.

All I really watched was tyrants, but i didn't 'study' it. Thanks, but I'm just considering going fighting the first area.

And my other main problem is when fighting the ghost, just before the massive canyon where the frigate lands. I can never kill them both, I get one but the second always seems to finish me. Any advice or just the same old follow the guide? =P
Thanks again for all the help guys.

I know, that's why I am scared of loosing just too many times. Although I am really motivated to complete Mythic at the moment, I have no idea what several loses on the longer levels could do to my motivation.

You should be fine up to the ark, thats when moral begins to die. Lmao thankfully I plan on going 100% guide (version 1) tommorow, meaning my rocket wielding marines should clean up anything that has legs. Although the 2.0 guide is faster, I do feel it requires a lot more skill, especially for the Ark. Tyrant, may I ask if the 2.0 for the Ark on your share is basically just kamikaze, because that is how it seemed.

Well, I wouldn't worry about that, losing motivation is far worse than learning from mistakes, which is what you should do after every death.

For that first rush I studied Pahat's video. As Gazas says there's a rock he uses which affords a reasonable amount of cover, but if you hang around for too long (between 5 and 10 second) the mob below will catch up to you and the Phantom dropping off the Hunters will also take shots at you. I also practiced sticking the Brute if possible, it removes his armour and can fling him off the cliff from time to time. Grunts should also be a top priority at that point as there are 7 of them with grenades and only one of you. Usually by the time you kill the Brute and 4 of the Grunts the last 3 will panic which allows you to run past them if you can hear the other enemies drawing close.

IMO this is the most time consuming part of the mission as it results in the most deaths and returns to sitting in the Pelican. Nail this and the rest of the mission is easy until the War Chieftain after activating the Cartographer.

Pahat's Video.
Tyrant's 2.0 Video.
My Video.

These will probably give you some examples of the rock I was talking about. Good Luck.

Also, on an off note: It seems the Mythic Rendering thing has stopped, apparently we're still waiting for Tyrant's Crow's Nest to render.

Wha!?

Seriously, what the hell. I've almost given up hope on finishing Cortana, it seems so easy and yet it relies so much on things that are out of your control. =/ Does anybody have any rushes that take around 10 minutes to get to the reactor room? Atm it's taking me like 25 minutes to get there and I'm starting to feel like I'm wasting my time.

  • 07.21.2009 7:39 AM PDT

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Use 2.0. Entire run is about 20 minutes. In my fileshare in linked in the OP.

Wait. Either that pic shows you being flung down a hallway or that tank became Stretch Armstrong. How the hell did it hit you from there which ih what it looks like since the Sword is just dropping and the shields are still dissipating.
Is your disc scratched or something?

Yes my disc is scratched, but that's not the problem lol. When I ran into the hallway that tank was charging at me, and didn't stop so it essentially ran into me. My sword threw it back there and then it swung for me. That pic is the exact moment my shields go down. :S

And now I'm totally pissed with Cortana. I got her and managed to get past the projector room and down that long tunnel, only to be killed by an elite form. =/ This just isn't my type of mission.
