Completing Mythic in one whole go requires a lot of time, which is something I unfortunately don't have. Could you imagine reaching Halo though and then dieing?

Although I haven't so far participated in any of the SMRC contests, I did get into Mythic through the contest. For me it really did make Mythic seem achievable.

If I do manage to complete Mythic, then I would have been the only Captain (to date) to have done so. A great comeback for those who criticise lower ranked players.

Actually you'd be the 2nd. I was still a Captain when I completed Mythic, but I ranked up from 28 to 31 shortly afterwards.

As for Cortana, my first attempt at slowing down just a bit ended in me nailing it first go. It's odd how S&S and kamikaze can make such a difference to your survival. 16:50 for those who want to look.

Personally, I found a combo of both S&S and kamikaze to work really well together.

The one thing that bugs me about Sierra 117, besides the snipers, is how if any enemy that jumps or goes into the water at the river battle, comes out right where you are fighting. I thought everything was going great until I see a Brute come running out of the water brute shot in hand.
First time it happend it scared the -blam!- out of me. It's still a little funny though, but just a little.

Picture This time a grunt is sneaking up behind me.
Most annoying part. Agree 100% Happened to me three times in a row once. One time there was this Grunt, then a Brute, then I saw a Brute fall down so I stood there for -blam!- 10 minutes and when I turned around, he came and Brute Shotted my ass.
That's happened to me a few times too. Probably because of my extreme grenade spam. At least, that was until I saw Dark's video, teaching me how to skip that area. Makes the level so much better.
I fail at skipping the river, and when I finally manage to do it, every single enemy chases me.

Same here. It's doable, but I don't recommend it personally.

What day is it today, Monday or something? My calender is messed up and I need to know when Sierra starts. I arrived from Denmark Sunday or so...

EDIT: Wow, it's Thursday, I've been sleeping too much. So Sierra begins tomorrow?

I don't see how you manage to make that happen though, I've had them follow me once, and I've died only twice in the process of skipping the river the newer way in my many attempts. It's nothing that needs perfecting, all you need to be able to do is take out 2 jackal snipers in about 4 jump and shots and be able to jump up a wall without wasting too much time. It is the easiest and fastest way to tackle the area.

I got followed by the Gold Brute and his cohort of grunts once. But only once and that was because I took too long over deciding whether to move or not while the Phantom was overhead. Otherwise I just pop the snipers and be on my merry way.
Never had a marine join before. Not on Mythic at any rate.

Odd. Whenever I jump past that area the enemies don't spawn at all except the one Brute and his Grunts from time to time. Well, the Jackal Marksmen on the ledges of the area which the 2nd Phantom usually drops off at are still there, but since they don't chase you they're not a threat.
Send me a video fo you trying this sometime. I want to compare it with my own and see if there are any differences or if I'm just lucky.

I just fight that area, better safe than sorry. It is a really easy battle, just time consuming. The only battle i want to skip is the very beggining, where the Brute says, "Spread out you wimps!".
I was just wondering how exactly you skip it, I have watched Pahats video but he does the jump (still cant't make it), then he hops down before the tree trunk and pistols the grunts. I guess my main question is how do you jump up and where do you drop down. The battle is just too boring for me now. Thanks.

It's difficult to explain, you sort of jump into a joint between two rocks and then jump again as soon as you "feel" yourself get purchase on the rocks. The angle of entry is everything. It also sometimes helps if the 2nd jump is a crouch jump and you "wriggle" a little via more crouch jumps. Then you've just got to run throught he bushes on the ledge and jump out to surprise the Grunts. You can even stop off to assassinate the Brute if you want since he's blind for a couple of seconds after you step out.

Pahat isn't the only one that does it. I have it in my run aswell.

There is a small straight section of boulder where Tyrant tells you to stand to take out the first grunts. Look at that straight section of boulder and back up a little bit and then jump so you make your body land on the straight section of boulder. When you hit the apex of your jump, spam the jump button. You will jump again and land on top of the boulder. Crouch jump onto the small rock above you so you can stand on it. Then, walk along the ridge until you get stopped by a tree. Jump into the tree and then jump onto the ridge again. You then can jump right behind the Brute and assassinate him. I don't know if this is what you meant. I also did a very poor job at explaining it. It is far easier to explain in a game where someone can see it for themselves.

I actually don't know how to do the jump. I just do it. The thing is, I rarely get it first time, its a very strange jump.

Yeah, it sometimes takes me up to 5 attempts to get it right. At other times it works like a charm.

I haven't even had a go at Sierra yet. My main concern is that the snipers will continually pick me off. Hopefully I will get some good advice from Tyrant's guide though.

I'm no Tyrant but I do have advice. Know the locations of EVERY sniper before hand. Some will not always spawn, but never run out until you are positive they are all dead. Never peek out if two snipers can see the location. Deal with them one at a time, one shot at a time. If you miss, fall back and wait for them to look away. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks Mole. With some luck I should have another mission or two completed this weekend. I might then think about doing a mission to enter the SMRC. After that though I will probably turn my attention to missions such as Cortana and Sierra 117.

I just treat that jump like an edge ghost jump. if you line it up right, you will almost always get it.
