Thanks! Its kinda n00by at the end. I ran out of BR ammo and Arbiter died and didn't respawn. So I killed a few grunts with a Pistol. And finished the AA Gun of with a AR.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Hey, just the fact that you did it on SLASO cancels out the "nooby" effect. Nice work! Five stars!

The Flood video has been added to OP. It looks like he's right. Watch how the Tank Forms are thrusted back by the Sword, preventing that retaliation melee.

I will say, however, not to try this in an enclosed space as that "pushing back" is the only thing that saved him.

True. In most situations on SLASO Cortana, you wouldn't be able to move back like he did, so I think we're better off just evading Tank forms like before.

Any tips for Sierra 117?

I know about the BR trick. It works greatly. I reached the 2nd "area", grabbed a Carbine and PP. Killed everyone except 1 Brute who killed me. And this was within my first 5 tries.

I'm hoping to upload the video tonight. I've been out of town lately so I'm a bit out of practice. You've got the worst behind you. From here on out you will have plenty of midranged ammo as long as you conserve. Take out the jackal snipers first. They are always top priority. Next take out the Grunts to eliminate grenade spam. Then collect their stickies, find cover, and stick the shielded jackals on the foot. Particularly in this area it's very easy. Last are the Brutes. If you can nail the one with the Brute shot first, that's the route you want to take, but really any order will do. Plasma Pistol/ Carbine Combo them.

You know that room with the two Carrier forms just before the Hive? I had a Tank form follow me in there and I ended up backing in to a crate...

I got out of it, though. I thought "There's no way I can get out of this, but why not..." so I slashed him once and he decided that he should cover his mouth instead of making me restart the level. I guess he was feeling merciful.

My overall tips for fighting Tank Forms:

Non-combat tip) Just because you can fight a Tank Form does not mean you should; if they have any support, do not engage them. If you're attempting to run through a room, never try attacking a Tank Form while doing so. It's suicide. Only fight them when you're in a position that you can properly defend.

1) Lure them towards you. You should never approach them, unless it is to get their attention so they will follow you.

2) Retreat to a safer location away from any other enemies, but do not run. Make sure that the Tank Form can still see you as you keep moving away. Notice how I always retreated away from them to ensure we would fight at a location of my choosing? Know your surroundings. Even a simple corridor will work fine, as you want to push them out the way they came.

3) Know when the reticule would be red for lunge. If you cannot tell with Blind Skull on, do not even think of trying this.

4) Leading off with a lunge or a quick strike from the sword is preference. However, I recommend a lunge. Slowly move towards them at about the same pace as they are approaching you. When you're positive that you're at the maximum distance to lunge, do so, and immediately backpedal after you hit the trigger. You should pull back out of range of their attack. If you're quick, you can get right up and lunge/melee them again, or you can play it safe and let them start coming towards you.

5) Always aim for their "mouth". In most of the cases that I kill them in a single hit, it seems that I struck them there. Even when I know I haven't attacked any of the Tank Forms, it still seems some will die in one hit.

Edit:

I have two theories about that strange amount of knockback that happens when I would slash a Tank Form. Factoring out the backpedaling I do each time, the distance that it creates is surprising. Cowbell is the Halo 3 version of the Sputnik Skull, albeit tuned down, but didn't Sputnik have an effect of pushing objects/enemies with more mass farther away than normal when hit by a melee? If that effect was the same for Cowbell, it could explain this.

My other idea is related to the surface I was fighting on. I lunged at the first one while it was on a slanted surface...perhaps this is related as well?

Lol, thanks.

Sierra 117 is surprisingly easy. I passed the first area with no idea what to do next. And I managed to reach the bit were the Banshee shoots down the Pelican. I cleared all that area. But died :( Forgot there were Grunts round the corner. I was only expecting the Jackals with Carbines.

Agreed.

Hopefully I'll have Sierra 117 done by tommorow or the next day. It's surprisingly easy. Especially the BR glitch at the beginning. Makes the whole thing so much easier. I can get to the area where the Pelican gets shot down easily. Haven't done enough tries to get past that yet. But its easy none the less.

Nice!

Here's a few tips for that area. After the Pelicans crash, many of the surviving Brutes and Grunts will go to the other side of the area. There are two ADDITIONAL carbine Jackals on the far wall and sometimes three. It seems random, but always assume three just in case. Once you kill most of the remaining Grunts, a dropship will arrive and drop off 12 more Grunts and two additional Brutes (damn!). The Grunts always come first. Once they're dead, grab some stickies and take out the two shielded Jackals (note that one may flee towards the Brutes on the other side of the boulder). From there, it's easy to jump on top of the boulder and duck back into cover when necessary to take out the Brutes. You should have more than enough BR ammo.

Note that the Jackal Snipers in this level can make things a challenge if you don't have the right equipment. A headshot with the BR will almost always result in an instant kill thanks to the spread, and is even better than the sniper.

Yep, That bits fairly easy. First thing i did when i arrived was kill the Grunts in front of me. Then the Jackals. Then finally the Brute. Then took out the Snipers on the other side. Slowly moved forward and took out as many Grunts as i could. Threw a lucky grenade and killed a Brute. Snuck round the side and kill the 2 Jackals and kill the Jackal on the hill. Killed the other Jackals and then the rest of the Grunts. The Arbiter ran ahead and distracted the Brutes while I PP+BR'd them. Cleared the area. Went around the corner and shot the Jackal with my BR. And got stuck by a Grunt. :(

At least I know what to expect now.

My solution to the blind skull: get some paper (colored, hard to see through) and some clear tape. cut a dot the size of the BR crosshair, play a custom game and using the dot and tape mark where the crosshair is located. That's what i do on RS Vegas 1. Blindfire isn't so "blind" when you know about where the bullets are going to go!
