When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

For the SMRC you should hyperlink the film itself. Also, this question should probably have been posted in Urk's thread just as an FYI as it's about the contest and not Mythic Difficulty itself. Again, this is FYI and I'm not attacking you or anything (just in case you're one of those people that take offense to every little thing).

Congrats smile. =]

With regards to the hangar on Crows Nest, are the phantom waves trigered by a time limit, or do you have to kill a certain number of each wave to trigger the next?

I've given it 3 half-hearted attempts so far and haven't gotten past the hangar. But the rest of it seems straight-forward.

From everything I've seen and experienced through the Hangar, I can safely say that the phantoms come when all the grunts in a wave have been killed. E.g. wave 1 (when you enter the room) once every grunt is dead the next set of phantoms comes in. Jackals and Brutes don't seem to affect this cycle but I haven't paid as much attention to them compared to the obvious dead grunts = phantoms.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Pretty much. Not sure if it's the Grunts specifically, but when a certain number of enemies kick the bucket, the next wave arrives. Think of this area like a Firefight prep course ;-)

I feel for you dude, just hang in there. I was at the Jackal Carbine cave, which is basically
the end of the Nest. When then, the environment had different plans for me and my beaten
down soul. A plasma grenade chain lightning incident, that seemed to cover a 10foot spread!

I was horrified, deflated, and disgusting with myself.

Since then, any excess plasma grenades on the floor in sight will be detonated
by a certified EOD team... To ensure safe passage for like combatants. =P

Dont worry about The Ark, man. If you beat Crow's Nest, you've got nothing to worry about. I did it on my first try after getting passed the ghosts, which is only like 3 minutes into the mission, which is easy to get passed.

The beginning of the level is half-luck, which is what is going to rack up your number of tries. Once you get passed the ghosts though, it's easy sailing for the rest of the level.

From the ghosts, you are in a tank. After the tank part, you're up against sleeping enemies. After that, you're just PP/BRing brutes in close quarters (sounds like a level you recently beat, huh?). After that, just some Pop n Shot brutes, and you're clear.

Give yourself about 3 hours, and you'll have the level down.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, and yeah I just read/watched through the 1.0 guide on HBO and I'm really not all that worried. The only really tough part seems to be the very beginning, which is good because I'd rather get it out of the way. Everything else is, as always, just taking it slow and checking my corners.

I'd like to say, though, that it's really very impressive that you Mythic Masters are so encouraging and helpful to others working on this goal. It's all too often that people who achieve something this awesome form an exclusive club, of sorts, and look down on everyone else not in it. So on behalf of myself and everyone else you've helped, thank you so very much for your patience, encouragement, and above all, respect you've given us. You've certainly earned it all back. =)

Use the 2.0 way of getting up to the brute choppers at least. It's much quicker, and it'll save you a bunch of headaches. Not to mention knock like 40 minutes off your time. From there, I played a little conservatively... mostly because I had a tank and tanks have big guns that I could sit back and blow stuff up with.

As far as what the Conquerer's do, yeah, it's how we roll. Mostly because we're glad to see so much enthusiasm in it now. I remember a good 200 pages or so ago when it was mainly just a couple Conquerers and a couple soon-to-be conquerers (myself included) posting. Now the difficulty has grown substantially, especially thanks to Tyrant getting his Summer Mythic Recon Contest. Now I feel that if I dont check in every day to the thread, I get out of the loop easily :P. And I'm glad for that.

I'm glad there are a bunch of people willing to pick up the hardest thing Halo has to throw at them, and push for the finish line. The Conquerer's are here to help you get there, be it tips, or just a pat on the back.

Heh, furthest I've gotten so far is to the motor pool chieftain. He wouldn't play nice and ended up hammering me up to the ceiling, and stood ready to smash me in the face as I fell back down. :@

Decided to try it without iron again and only got 2 deaths at the jump-pack brute area. The first was because of splash damage from a brute shot getting me through the wall of that small building with the 2 camo's + regen. The second one was pretty odd, as soon as I jumped from the pelican and down next to the tunnel the second wave of brutes spawned straight away. The only thing I did differently there was to jump over the side of the lift instead of waiting for the door to open. This happened to anyone else?

Btw, congrats on your bungie favourite Mole, That is a pretty unreal stick. :o

And with my completion of The Ark, I have finished my quest for Mythic. Wow. That's all I got to say. This was definately the most challenging thing I've ever done. Challeging not merely gameplay wise, but mentally. Getting back up after totally being wasted time and time again. This was one hell of a journey. I gotta say a HUGE thank you to Tyrant, his guide, all the Mythic Conquerors so far that encourage and help along the way and the Mythic community that has really grown these last few months.

Anyways, I do believe that I'm Mythic Conqueror #22 and thats what I was hoping for. Bungie might have dibs on 7, but 22 has always been my number. This just makes it better.

Nice work! I knew you would make it. Completing the entire campaign on Mythic difficulty is a great accomplishment.

I have a feeling that when ODST comes out, there is going to be an intense race to be the first ODST mythic conqueror.

And in other news, I died on Crow's Nest because of the drones in the pipes after the hammer chieftan. Yeah, it was pretty sad. I think I'm going to give Mythic a break until the Ark challenge, considering I already completed Crow's Nest once this week.

[Edited on 08.04.2009 8:07 PM PDT]

Yeah, I beat Crows Nest today. At the very end, I had to use a pistol to do the elevator battle. Now I am ready to start on The Ark tomorrow.

  • 08.04.2009 8:45 PM PDT

No black and white in the blue.

Congrats on your conquest, Caruban. I wish I could say I'll be joining the Conqueror list (is there an updated one posted somewhere?) soon, but given the fact that I've unsuccessfully played The Covenant at least 200 times (no joke), it doesn't seem likely. If there's one thing I take away from the Mythic challenge after completing it (besides intense pride and satisfaction), it'll be a nearly bottomless pit of focus and patience. I've only gotten to the Scarabs once, and I died because I was too impatient to wait for the 2nd one to turn towards me. I've gotten about halfway through Quid Pro Quo (Sierra 117) twice, but died due to very short lapses of attention. I've been taking more in-mission breaks recently, and that seems to be helping. So long as I take it slow and steady, and come into each area with a solid game plan, I do fine (very well, actually). Barring any physical breakdowns (I think SLASO might be giving me Carpal Tunnel....), I think I'll be victorious in one of the next few times I get to the dam. After that, it'll be back to The Covenant. I think I'll try beating it Tyrant's old-fashioned way for a while. I've been trying my own amalgam of 1.0 and 2.0 and Kamikaze for quite some time, and while I feel the strategy is sound, I just haven't been able to do it. Maybe once I've got a win under my belt.

The SMRC has left me behind, but I really don't care about Recon anymore. The Quest for SLASO has essentially been my life for the last month, and things will likely stay that way until I'm a Conqueror. I've put way too much time and effort into this to not finish the fight. I only hope I finish it sooner rather than later, as I'd like to have a life again by the time classes start.

It was never about Recon (for me) and more about promoting the idea of an extreme
campaign experience that alot more people should be apart of. Mythic truly tests your
wits and determination. I see people who dont even take the time of day to play
the Halo campaign, and that saddens me.

Anyway, Mythic has drove me to the point now where Im numb to failure, I expect
it to happen.. But, that glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel is a compelling one,
willing you to keep pushing.. pushing toward something extraordinary.

Dont put a time constraint on your Conqueror crown Lebowski, added pressure never
helps, and Ive found a clear mind and no distractions helps with the already demanding difficulty!

I tell you what is worse if you die when you need to arm the bomb that is worse I wasted 2 hours or so of my afternoon. In other news I am finding crowsnest not that difficult and actually quite fun.

SCUBBIE came through! I think my "glimmer of hope" gave me confidence I needed
to pull it off. On top of that, I left my 2 active camos too far behind and was isolated
from them during the Fuel Rod Chieftain/Bomb Battle. I almost got killed but he
decided to come up the stairs and melee me.. to my surprise!

Thanks DarkDEV for the pep talk, I really needed it. I took my precious time,
NO Pelican Hop or any shortcuts.. and I made sure I had plenty of plasma
pistols the whole time as well.. Took me a hour and a half of prudent combat.

Ive had a blast so far gang, The Ark is going to be INSANEO.

I musn't be beliving hard enough for Crow's Nest, maybe that's why I only ever get past the barracks every 20 or so attempts. Also, where do I get a deployable cover from for the landing pad trick? Do I have to carry one all the way from the motor pool or something? Or is there one in the barracks?
