Fun story! Looks like we may have discovered another campaign glitch! Giving the Arbiter better weapons :-)
Lol. I noticed that you can change his weapons that way a long time ago. I thought people already knew. It works the same way as with Johnson. If there is a weapon next to his corpse, that's what he gets when he revives. On some levels, if there isn't one, they'll revive and take out a specific weapon. Usually the Arbiter gets a Carbine.
On Halo, I actually kill off the Arbiter and swap my Rockets for his Plasma Rifle and then dual-wield the other. He becomes more useful on SLASO...but you have to be even more careful, since if you get in the path of his shot...mission restart.
Anyways, it turns out that the Arbiter can't use the Gravity Hammer. He went after the Brute and just kept getting hit by melee and shot...he died shortly after. I eventually got that Marine a Sniper Rifle, and he was doing amazingly well. I don't think I've ever seen a Marine survive so many shots...but then he got stuck. So it was myself and that Brute. I managed to sneak up close, get an overcharge shot in, then headshot him with the BR. Within 2 seconds, the Arbiter was back up with a Sword. So we moved on to the AA Gun. I had my Rocket Launcher, so I was staring at the AA Gun. I found a spot where I'm pretty sure I was hitting the core. The problem is the timing. I counted, and the gun fires just about every five seconds, and the core is exposed for close to three. Firing the rocket as soon as you see the core exposed will result in the core pulling back just before the rocket hits. You need to shoot on the fourth second, right before when it's going to fire.
Oh right...the ending! Well, I ran out of Rockets, so I thought...what can I use to hit the core from really far back? So, I went to the Minigun, started firing, and then I heard something that made me realize that worrying about the Chieftan with the Fuel Rod Gun might shoot at me seem silly...I had forgotten about the Grunts. The Grunts. The grenade-sticking masters, who if you don't pay attention to, they will end you. I heard him yell out something and I realized my mistake. I had to make haste! I got off the turret, the Plasma Grenade stuck to it. I started to run but it was not meant to be. The explosion took me out.
Moving on, I also thought I'd mention an observation I made. Both Starocean Zero and Jew man man swapped a gun for a Marine's BR in the beginning of the Storm. Not that it's a bad choice, no, it's a great one, but I figured I should mention there is a BR outside where the Warthogs are, as well as two Plasma Pistols and a Plasma Grenade. Because of Blind Skull, I can't tell for sure without taking it off, but I think those Plasma Pistols both have 100% charge. A single one lasted me all the way to the Ghosts with all enemies clear and no Plasma Pistol in the area could be swapped for it. I should note that the BR never starts with a full clip, so make sure to reload it.
I'll describe the locations from memory. Once you're about to get out of the car, have the Master Chief look as far right as he can. When he gets out, you should be facing two dead Grunts. Go over there and you'll find a Plasma Pistol and a Plasma Grenade. From there, you should still see two barricades. Go past the second one and hang a left and keep going. You should find the Battle Rifle. Now if you go over by the Marines and look towards the cliff, there should be a Grunt corpse at the end of the path. There is a Plasma Pistol right next to it.
In addition to those, in the room where the Prophet of Truths holopedestal is, there is another BR as well. There is a Marine corpse pretty close to the left-hand button that opens the door. Right next to it is a BR. You probably won't need all that ammo since you there is a BR crate in the next area, but hey, it helps in case you run out while taking out any rooms.
I've been learning a lot today about the Storm, as well as improving. I'm getting up to the first Chieftan a lot faster, and I even got to witness him get splattered by a Marine on a Ghost, as well as the game prior, watching him get rammed by a Warthog while the gunner was firing at him. Not just that, but getting up to the Scarab is seeming like a cakewalk now, and even fighting it is pretty easy. I'm pretty sure I'll be clearing it tomorrow, at the rate things are going. Whoa! I just realized I made another wall. I guess I'm unconsciously trying to build a fortress.
Edit: I remember that on Crow's Nest, if you kill Johnson and move the Magnum too far away, he'll have no weapon. I betrayed my Marines one time, and if Johnson comes after you...don't kill him. He'll run up to you, punching and saying "HAHA!" and "HAIYA!"...but he can't hurt you.
I think I may start looking in to this. I mean, we know that Johnson revives with a BR when his weapon is taken away on Sierra 117. Crow's Nest he gets nothing (at least in the beginning. I don't know about the other times). On Halo, Johnson revives with the infinite Spartan Laser (man, I love that Laser. It's so useful)...I can't think of any instances where the Arbiter doesn't revive with a Carbine when his weapon is moved away. Like I said, I'll look in to it.
