Yea, Just before I died, I ran out of Carbine ammo and was kind of relying on the Arbiter to distract them while I grab some Carbine ammo. But I was pretty close to the end, after that bit is the final area (?), So shouldn't be long before i finish it.

Conserve and use the BR and the BR only against JJackals with mid to long ranged weapons. You shouldn't be using the Carbine much after the river area.

Sometimes the assassination can be a coin toss. Here's my advice. Particularly if you are at the later part of any level, don't move in for it unless the Arbiter has the Brute 100% distracted from you. You never know when they'll just turn around.

Yep. I believe I included it in one of my guides. Brutes have two kinds of lunges. The first is short ranged. That is when they jump and typically end up with their backs to you if you jump out of the way. This is how you score the assassination. The other type is long-ranged. When a Brute does this (and you'll know) RUN! No matter which direction they are facing when they jump, they will always turn towards you when they hit the ground. If they make contact, it's an instant kill.

Subject: The Impossible Quest for S.L.A.S.O. (Question for BUNGIE in OP)

I'm currently on the Storm. I don't need help, but I have to post about this craziness.

So I defeat the Scarab. Arbiter shows up, we get to the warehouse. Eventually he loses his shields and he goes berserk and takes out three Brutes with his sword. I go back in to the hallway to try and force a Marine to come help, but he won't budge. So it seems that while I was doing that, the Arbiter died and revived, but the Brutes had just screwed themselves over. One of them had a Brute Shot, and I think he knocked the Arbiter's Plasma Rifle too far away, but not his Sword...

So up past the Hunters, the Arbiter is using his Sword, while I sit back and watch from a far. I have no Plasma Pistol, so I didn't want to engage any of them. The Arbiter eventually gets flung by an explosion in to the room with a Sniper, and he wouldn't leave. Cursing my luck, I nervously head for a Plasma Pistol; I wouldn't mind going for it normally, however I had four sets of eyes watching me: The Chieftan, a Brute with a Carbine, and two with Spikers.

I grab it. I run like hell and head back to a BR crate that was all the way at the beginning of the factory. I'm thinking "I should be able to do this myself..." and I find a random Marine as I'm going. I push him to get him moving, and we head back to where I was earlier. I go up the stairs on the warehouse side of the sniper room, but something is amiss. Where did the Arbiter go?!!

I rush to the window to see him charging forth in to battle. At this point I'm confused, however, because three of the Brutes that were there are now gone. Just the guy with the Carbine, corpses littering the area...no sign of the Chieftan. I figure he must have retreated back a little.

So the Marine and the Arbiter are fighting the Carbine guy. I lose sight of the Arbiter, and he appears to have died. The Marine is managing to do some good damage, but I wish I could give him a weapon.

Then I notice something move out of the corner of my eye. I zoom in. The Arbiter revived again, but not with a Sword. He is holding a Gravity Hammer.

I am amazed that in such a short period, the Arbiter killed the Chieftan, especially when you consider that the Chieftan (probably) had Invincibility.

I can only imagine what is going to happen next...oh, and sorry about the massive wall. Lol. I just wanted to tell this story.

Fun story! Looks like we may have discovered another campaign glitch! Giving the Arbiter better weapons :-)

Lol. I noticed that you can change his weapons that way a long time ago. I thought people already knew. It works the same way as with Johnson. If there is a weapon next to his corpse, that's what he gets when he revives. On some levels, if there isn't one, they'll revive and take out a specific weapon. Usually the Arbiter gets a Carbine.

On Halo, I actually kill off the Arbiter and swap my Rockets for his Plasma Rifle and then dual-wield the other. He becomes more useful on SLASO...but you have to be even more careful, since if you get in the path of his shot...mission restart.

Anyways, it turns out that the Arbiter can't use the Gravity Hammer. He went after the Brute and just kept getting hit by melee and shot...he died shortly after. I eventually got that Marine a Sniper Rifle, and he was doing amazingly well. I don't think I've ever seen a Marine survive so many shots...but then he got stuck. So it was myself and that Brute. I managed to sneak up close, get an overcharge shot in, then headshot him with the BR. Within 2 seconds, the Arbiter was back up with a Sword. So we moved on to the AA Gun. I had my Rocket Launcher, so I was staring at the AA Gun. I found a spot where I'm pretty sure I was hitting the core. The problem is the timing. I counted, and the gun fires just about every five seconds, and the core is exposed for close to three. Firing the rocket as soon as you see the core exposed will result in the core pulling back just before the rocket hits. You need to shoot on the fourth second, right before when it's going to fire.

Oh right...the ending! Well, I ran out of Rockets, so I thought...what can I use to hit the core from really far back? So, I went to the Minigun, started firing, and then I heard something that made me realize that worrying about the Chieftan with the Fuel Rod Gun might shoot at me seem silly...I had forgotten about the Grunts. The Grunts. The grenade-sticking masters, who if you don't pay attention to, they will end you. I heard him yell out something and I realized my mistake. I had to make haste! I got off the turret, the Plasma Grenade stuck to it. I started to run but it was not meant to be. The explosion took me out.

Moving on, I also thought I'd mention an observation I made. Both Starocean Zero and Jew man man swapped a gun for a Marine's BR in the beginning of the Storm. Not that it's a bad choice, no, it's a great one, but I figured I should mention there is a BR outside where the Warthogs are, as well as two Plasma Pistols and a Plasma Grenade. Because of Blind Skull, I can't tell for sure without taking it off, but I think those Plasma Pistols both have 100% charge. A single one lasted me all the way to the Ghosts with all enemies clear and no Plasma Pistol in the area could be swapped for it. I should note that the BR never starts with a full clip, so make sure to reload it.

I'll describe the locations from memory. Once you're about to get out of the car, have the Master Chief look as far right as he can. When he gets out, you should be facing two dead Grunts. Go over there and you'll find a Plasma Pistol and a Plasma Grenade. From there, you should still see two barricades. Go past the second one and hang a left and keep going. You should find the Battle Rifle. Now if you go over by the Marines and look towards the cliff, there should be a Grunt corpse at the end of the path. There is a Plasma Pistol right next to it.

In addition to those, in the room where the Prophet of Truths holopedestal is, there is another BR as well. There is a Marine corpse pretty close to the left-hand button that opens the door. Right next to it is a BR. You probably won't need all that ammo since you there is a BR crate in the next area, but hey, it helps in case you run out while taking out any rooms.

I've been learning a lot today about the Storm, as well as improving. I'm getting up to the first Chieftan a lot faster, and I even got to witness him get splattered by a Marine on a Ghost, as well as the game prior, watching him get rammed by a Warthog while the gunner was firing at him. Not just that, but getting up to the Scarab is seeming like a cakewalk now, and even fighting it is pretty easy. I'm pretty sure I'll be clearing it tomorrow, at the rate things are going. Whoa! I just realized I made another wall. I guess I'm unconsciously trying to build a fortress.

Edit: I remember that on Crow's Nest, if you kill Johnson and move the Magnum too far away, he'll have no weapon. I betrayed my Marines one time, and if Johnson comes after you...don't kill him. He'll run up to you, punching and saying "HAHA!" and "HAIYA!"...but he can't hurt you.

I think I may start looking in to this. I mean, we know that Johnson revives with a BR when his weapon is taken away on Sierra 117. Crow's Nest he gets nothing (at least in the beginning. I don't know about the other times). On Halo, Johnson revives with the infinite Spartan Laser (man, I love that Laser. It's so useful)...I can't think of any instances where the Arbiter doesn't revive with a Carbine when his weapon is moved away. Like I said, I'll look in to it.

Two questions:

Well, it's kinda seems like I should know, but is there a faster way to get a clean video (without all the restarts) than saving and quitting, then reloading and restarting the mission?

Second, I'm having problems reaching the first lakebed on the storm. The first room is never much trouble for me, but I don't really have a rock-hard strategy for clearing second room (the corridor with the ghosts at the end). I usually try to sneak up the right side without opening the main door and I can usually take out most of the brutes and the grunts (losing a little health in the process) but when you add in the jackals, my shields just can't take it...

EDIT: Now I can get past most of the area before the lakebed, but I always end up dying while trying to jack the ghost to get my shields back. I usually try PPing it, but it either kills me before I can get close enough or I jack it, get stuck in a corner, then get re-jacked by the brute and die.

Ok, Clearing the 2nd room. Take it slow, take out the enemies as normal. When you reach the jackals continously strafe. Left and right, keep moving. Also, if your finding them hard to hit, throw a grenade, they will roll out the way and there shield will be down, headshot them.

And the Ghosts, when the PP them, make sure you shoot one of the wings, not the middle bit, if you shoot one of the wings, it falls down at an angle, so you can run at it and jack it.

Those are excellent observations and no I didn't know about the extra two BRs. The only two I was aware of was the one the Marine was holding and the one in the glass room. I did, however, know about the first plasma pistol and find it very useful.

I'd also like to note that last night I was having some fun on Sierra 117 and managed to get ALL of my Marines through the first few battles and into the first area with the Carbine Jackals :-)

While I like jew man's method, I might have an easier one for you. The biggest threat to your Marines and Warthog in any area are the Grunts. Keep in mind that in the second area, you really don't need to deal with the Brutes and Jackals. You can in you want, but I find it just ends up taking a little longer. Once the Grunts are down and you've eliminated the possibility of grenade spam. Head back to the Hog, kick out the driver, and place the vehicle BEHIND the Marines standing at the blast door. Then open the door and 9/10 the Marines grenade spam will lay waste to nearly everything in the room. With the Warthog in the back, you are out of the way of frag grenades while still provide adiquet support. Also, let me add that after you position the hog, hop out so just in case it starts getting shot at, you won't be in it to receive damage.

For me this works every time. Give it a try.

heck, Tyrant didn't even know about the above method his first time through. hence why his cortana video ended up being over six hours long.

as far as i know, the only above way is the one stated in your post. although you could use a capture card to record the whole thing later and just record the successful run.
