I usually don't contribute to these forums, but recently, I have developed a countermeasure for dealing with the famous 180 swing attack of a Brute Chieftain.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C2U3DFu2Kk

One can see this at 0:17.

I am merely a weak Halo 3 player, only capable of playing on Legendary and only on the level The Covenant with Thunderstorm, Mythic, and Grunt Birthday Party turned on.

So I would like to see if someone can test and see if this strategy will work well on Mythic. Yes, it is very risky, but it seems to work.

And concerning Halo 3 Co-op Mythic, can the special grenade throw used by the Spec Ops Elites on Floodgate come in handy?

Indeed, all Elites, in both Campaign and multiplayer, can do the special grenade throw. Just like how Elites can equipment jump with a Power Drain.

The player needs two weapons that are compatible (e.g. Brute Shot and Rocket Launcher) and needs to press the Y button and then immediately press the LT button to throw a grenade. If done correctly, the grenade will not be thrown and there will be a delay. During this delay, the player can slide.

Fixed your link, but apparently it's a malformed video so it's not viewable. Could you try describe your technique please?

As for the Elites' Plasma throw, I can't really see a use for it. It's cool but Floodgate is so short and easy that there's not really a use for it and it's only likely to slow the player down.

Oh, it's not just limited to Floodgate. It's possible on any level as long as you're playing as a Elite. The Arbiter can do it too. I once uploaded a video showing this but I deleted it. I will see if I can upload a new one later.

Hmm... I'm not sure I quite follow, so another video would be good.

As for the Chieftain thing, that's a pretty interesting trick but most of the time the only reason you'll miss the initial assassination is if you're using a BR (at least this is what correlates most frequently to the phenomenon) and the melee animation is cut short just after you've lunged at him. This means that you lunge but don't actually hit the Chieftain meaning while you're saying "WTF!" the monkey with a big stick turns around and uses said big stick to bounce the Chief across the room which usualy results in death.

Regardless of its seemingly limited use it is still another technique to remember and possibly practice as you can never be over equipped to deal with a situation. :-)

Heh. I ttakes more than a day in some cases; The Ark must have taken me nearly a week playing every day. And that's counting the 3 times I got right to the end before dying which is soul crushing stuff.
For the other missions I generally took my time, dabbling here and there every few days/weeks.months etc. Whenever I felt like it really.

Awesome work guys. I might get back to ym ClASO sometime, although I'd probably have to restart as my brotherpretty much gave up on Halo for several months and his heart wasn't in it from the start. :-P

Yes... Cortana.... I will never play that level again, not even on easy. I am done with it! Haha. But me and Lt. Play Doh need to work on CLASO ODST and I need to finish it on SLASO. I only have a few more levels to do.

I considered doing quad ODST, but in the end it just seems too time consuming. Especially considering Coastal Highway...the most horrific level ever invented. Also, do any of you guys follow Machinama on youtube? There is a challenge (for bragging rights) where whoever can get the best solo firefight score wins. However, you need to record the last 10 minutes or so, so if you dont have a cap card it will be hard. If you're interest, youtueb machinama respawn proving ground, and you'll find details. Just thought I'd inform those who I know will win.

And finally, who'd pumped for Reach? I can't wait to try Mythic in it. I think it will be very, very challenging. Elites, and all the other new (or old) features will make it much harder. I know its far off, but still. Anyways guys, just thought I'd stop in and check out whats going on. See you all later. :)

Gotta say though, Halo 3 ODST level Uplift Reserve was easy. I just completed it. :D

Also, gotta say that the experience is truly badass. I died two times initially before I completed the level. Those choppers are scary as hell.

Looking at the speedrun times for The Ark on the group. Could do with some revisiting. The times (apart from Pahat's) are nothing special. Might take a re-run in a bit.

You're a brave one to try an Ark speedrun. :-P
I loved succeeding in that mission, but the sheer amount of things that had to be done flawlessly put me off wanting to do it agian on Mythic unless it's for my co-op attempt.

I who walk alone in this world wrapped in the arms of the past not knowing what lies ahead of me. What am I? A soulless being to be beaten by the rage of those who hate me? Cutting my way past hopes and dreams. Sit in the window sill as I do every day and night resignations on my slate of who I am and what is left behind. Concealed in the words that chases my every thought. I who walk alone in this world…I am broken

I tried this but i dont have the patience for it

Hey, I've been working through the game on Mythic, and I just finished the level Sierra 117 after almost 2 days straight >.>(Probably my least favourite in the game due to the snipers).

My disc can't load Crow's Nest, apparently, so when I finished Sierra 117 I get a message along the lines of "Your disc is scratched" and taken to dashboard, I go back on Halo 3 and tada, my recent films are gone. The game is logged on Bungie.net, is that enough to prove I've done it?

I understand that the films are to prove you didn't use the save/quit cheat, but I don't know what the rules actually are.

I'm wondering if something like for example that I've killed 28 carbine/sniper jackals is proof enough that I had to have gone through the whole level to rack up that many kills, I don't really know how campaign scoring works with save/quit, so I don't know if that does prove anything. I really hope so.

It looks fine, 101 kills and no deaths. All skulls were active which means that you're not lying. Good job. :-)

4 hours 17 minutes on the Ark O_O? Must have been pretty nervous doing those final rooms with 4 hours work behind you.
