I've been trying to rush Sierra 117 for almost a week, and I've only gotten to the dam twice (sniped the first time, stuck by a Grunt after deploying a Bubble Shield instead of the Chieftain's Invincibility the second). When I manage to skip the second battle successfully, I get to the area before the dam 95% of the time, but my success rate for skipping the second battle is abysmal. I watched Dark's video, but there didn't seem to be much to it other than getting lucky with Jackal Marksmen spawns and the Brute Shot Brute's awareness. Am I missing something?
4 or 5 tries after initially posting this, I get to the dam only to have my ride blasted halfway to Pluto by a Brute Captain's Brute Shot. I tried all the usual tricks for a couple minutes until I finally lost hope and jumped into the river. It's times like this when I just feel like telling this game to f*** off...
Brute Shot problems? Can't you just let the Arbiter deal with those for you?
Good to see you back again, Tyrant. Just in time for a major Reach teaser too. You really have a knack for turning up at the right time. :-)Unfortunately, the Arbiter isn't all that useful on Sierra 117 on Legendary. When he pulls out the energy sword, chaos ensues, but in a bad way.
He's actually more useful on The Covenant, particularly at Revelation. This Arbiter spawned at Revelation is invincible. I had a video up a few months ago showing how useful he is.
This is a strategy for Legendary, so I don't know if it will work on Mythic. I gave up Mythic a few weeks ago anyway. :(
Part 1 - Bring a Fuel Rod Gun and a Carbine to the Grunt birthday party, consisting of Grunts, Jackals, and a Brute Ultra and uninvited guests. :P Use the Carbine to headshot the two Fuel Rod Gun Heavy Grunts at the back and then either let the Grunts and Jackals take down the Arbiters shield, or use a Plasma Pistol from the nearby supply case (you have to get it quickly). There is, I believe, a 50% chance that the Arbiter will take out his energy sword when his shields are drained. Wait till the Arbiter has cleared the closer enemies and follow him, or he will stop pursuit. When the Arbiter has reached the Brute Ultra, carefully make your way to his position to get the second pair of Heavy Grunts spawn. The Arbiter will take them out or you can headshot them yourself.
Part 2 - Switch to your Fuel Rod Gun, jump on the supply case, and go on top of the roof. Zoom in, aim your Fuel Rod Gun at the Marathon symbol (you can't miss it!), and shoot three Fuel Rods at the Jump Pack Brute in the middle. It takes three Fuel Rods to kill a Jump Pack Brute (Mythic and Tilt turned on). Then take out the other Jump Pack Brutes with the Fuel Rod Gun.
After you have killed all of the Jump Pack Brutes (zoom in to make sure), go forward and jump down, then quickly climb up the supply case and get back on the roof. If you want, you can range shot that Brute Ultra with that sick Brute Shot before you go forward. Go back and get a Plasma Pistol, get on the roof, and do what Tyrant did.
Now the next part will be very frustrating so let the Arbiter take the damage instead of taking his shield down yourself. Nothing could be more embarrassing then taking down the Arbiters shield only for him to do nothing but take cover.
And do not go through the door. The Flood ruin everything! D: Get on the roof and headshot the Heavy Grunts, who will probably have their attention on the Arbiter and will be facing your direction, for a easy headshot (you should see what happens when you let the Grunts live :P). Now stay there, until the Arbiter starts kicking ass. Then jump down and follow him to make sure he continues the pursuit. He will charge at the Brute Chieftain and his Brute Bodyguards.
Now this will be very dangerous so sit back and keep your distance and let the Arbiter do his work. If he gets knocked off the bridge, he will respawn again and again until he wins. :D
I'm not trying to get attention here. I haven't even completed Halo 3 on Legendary. I'm just a Halo 3 strategy enthusiast and I like lending a helping hand. :)
