My run of Sierra 117 in my File Share is sloppy. I need to do a cleaner run, but can't be bothered at the moment. Could easily knock of two minutes.

Where would you shave the time from? The area before the dam? I haven't watched your run since completing mine, but sniper alley and the area after it (just before the dam) were the only areas I remember you taking much time on.

The constantly respawning Flood Infection Forms are generally more useful than the Arbiter at the stage you mentioned. And it's better to keep a BR from the earlier stages of the mission to get the Grunts with courtesy of the spread. It's also great for finishing Brutes who have had their armour stripped by the Flood.
As for the Fuel Rod gun, it does work against the Jump Pack Brutes, however I've encountered a glitch before where they aren't affected at all so you're just wasting ammo. It works, but isn't 100% reliable.

I find them annoying. I prefer using the Arbiter.

Yes, the spread is useful, but I find it difficult to use the BR to headshot the Heavy Grunts from a distance. And for finishing the Brutes, I leave that to the Arbiter and his sword.

Does this happen frequently or does it happen more often when you're doing Mythic Slaso?

They can work together, no need to limit yourself.

The Carbine actually has the same spread as the BR, but due to the single fire mechanic is less accurate overall. Unless you like it because the beam is more visible than BR tracers when Blind is on?

Does this happen frequently or does it happen more often when you're doing Mythic Slaso?
Mythic and SLASO were virtually the same last I checked, but I've never noticed this in "regular" play with no skulls active, although in regular play I tend to be a bit more gung-ho and rush enemies instead so I haven't actually tested it.

How about strategies for the third tower battles?

I prefer going to the left side; if you're lucky, the whole swarm of Drones will assemble and can be easily dispatched with a well placed frag grenade.

I prefer giving the Arbiter the Fuel Rod Gun before the fight, particularly the War Chieftain's Fuel Rod Gun.

After the first fight, I like to stick at least one Elite with a plasma grenade and give him something in exchange for his energy sword. Then I give him the sword. This is more harder to do if the Cowbell is turned on, but it is a good idea to give at least one Elite the sword before the Flood arrive.

When you have to go up the elevator, I find meleeing the Arbiter onto the elevator and bringing him with you to be rather useful for taking out the War Chieftain. Using the Mauler and the plasma pistol to take care of the stealth Brutes, then pushing the Arbiter off the elevator and in front of the glass. The Arbiter will make the War Chieftain dive like the crazy bastard, but eventually, the War Chieftain will take his shields down and the Arbiter will slaughter him with the energy sword.

Finally, I melee him to the activation panel and activate it. You can see a Solo cutscene with the Arbiter in it. When the Flood comes, throw your firebomb grenades, take cover when you see any Flood wielding human weapons, and use the plasma rifle to mop up the rest of them.

Can these work on Mythic, or just Legendary?

Yeah, that's true. I just find the stalker forms annoying since the Arbiter usually doesn't charge with his sword until they die.

Yes, that's why. Also, because of it's available ammo and Covenant design.

I suspected it involved Mythic and Slaso. The same can be said about Brutes berserking with their weapons drawn.

How about strategies for the third tower battles?

I prefer going to the left side; if you're lucky, the whole swarm of Drones will assemble and can be easily dispatched with a well placed frag grenade.

There are various ways of doing this on mythic; either with abrute Shot to save grenades and have more of a chance if you miss first time, or by hanging back and sniping all the Drones with a Beam Rifle from Tower 1. I prefer the sniping method.

I prefer giving the Arbiter the Fuel Rod Gun before the fight, particularly the War Chieftain's Fuel Rod Gun.
With all of the FRG amo before this fight it's actually possible to do it (kill both Hunters) manually via using the pop & shoot method. I prefer Arby to keep his Sword or Plasma Rifle at thsi point as they're both more effective against brute armour in the next section. I'll then typically use the Spiker and Plasma/Spike Grenades against the next wave of Drones.

After the first fight, I like to stick at least one Elite with a plasma grenade and give him something in exchange for his energy sword. Then I give him the sword. This is more harder to do if the Cowbell is turned on, but it is a good idea to give at least one Elite the sword before the Flood arrive.
Elites very rarely survive the encounter witht he Hunters + Drones regardless of weapons so it seems a little pointless.

Never tried this before. I guess it's worth a look at some point.

Finally, I melee him to the activation panel and activate it. You can see a Solo cutscene with the Arbiter in it. When the Flood comes, throw your firebomb grenades, take cover when you see any Flood wielding human weapons, and use the plasma rifle to mop up the rest of them.

Two words: Plasma Cannon.
Simply spray the little guys, then whip out dual Plasma Rifles or a Plasma Pistol/Mauler combo for the combat forms. Grenades are helpful, but not Firebombs as combat forms will take a while to burn out on Mythic (especially shielded forms) and just keep running at you, except they're on fire and therefore damage you on contact. Not good.

Yeah, the sniping method is more safer.

I always gave him the Fuel Rod Gun before the Hunter fight since the AIs can't kill Hunters with the Energy Sword. You should see 5 Elites with Energy Swords vs Hunters. They can't even scratch the Hunters and will inevitably die.

That's because they have the charging behavior of a Zealot, unfortunately.

I've tried it and it's more possible on Legendary, since the Arbiter pulls out his sword more often. Can't say the Arbiter will help much with the Stalker Brutes, since he can't seem them, but he is very efficient at killing the War Chieftain.

Yeah, that's a good point. Which is why I recommend having the Arbiter as backup. He'll draw the Flood's attention and kill most of them.

Wow, the thread is still going strong!

Hey Gazas, MATCLAN, Salsa and whoever else ive talked to in the past (you all probably forgot my flaky arse!) I think it was the SMRC a few months back since the last time ive been active!

Welcome back! It's good to see that there is some Mythic interest... not much has been happening lately.

You haven't missed much since the SMRC... except for ODST, but for Halo 3 it has been fairly quiet since.

That's good to hear Salsa, ive been worried I missed out
on a bunch of fun. But, I still keep up on my SLASO skills
here and there!

The funnest thing ive ever done was compete in the SMRC!
The tension, thrill, patience & outright skill was more
than enough to satisfy any halo gut.

Thanks for the warm welcome back, I WILL be back to
finish the fight!

Also a nice touch that he did the levels in sequence.

Hey everyone, I don't believe i've posted since SMRC but I'm glad to see the forum still going strong! I just bought ODST and am starting to practice SLASO, doesn't look difficult compared to Halo 3...

As for cool Halo 3 campaigning though, I've noticed that all levels have been done Zero Shot except for the three hardest: Sierra, Crow's, and Ark. Each level has a couple problem areas:

SIERRA 117: sniper forest + next area "c'mon you dumb apes!"
CROW'S NEST: drones
THE ARK: AA Wraith part and final brute battle

I just think it would be awesome to be ZERO SHOT CONQUERORS in addition to Mythic. Like "yes, I beat the whole Halo 3 campaign on Legendary without firing a weapon. I am a BAMF"

But I need your help on these missions!!! I know we can figure it out as the world's best campaign players.

Zero Shot requirements: Legendary, no deaths, no weapons allowed except Sword and Gravity Hammer; can melee and throw grenades; can use equipment; can splatter; can have gunners in vehicles that kill things (but no shooting from vehicles yourself like ghost or tank).

Its actually a lot of fun to try to beat levels this way, and I always love the challenge. Floodgate and Halo are super easy, The Storm and Tsavo Highway and Cortana are not terribly difficult, and The Covenant is a fun challenge but I think is very doable (watch video in my fileshare).

I have tried Sierra and I have a question on the sniper forest. The jackals take out Arby pretty fast b/c a sniper takes out his shields and a carbiner shoots him in the head. What causes Arbiter to wake up? Do you need to advance more, kill more jackals, or is it purely time based? One person in an HIH forum suggested giving Arbiter a Beam Rifle, has anyone tried that with success? As for the "c'mon you dumb apes" section afterward, someone in HIH suggested doing a slide jump across and using the bubble shield to avoid sniper fire while you skip through the enemies and head through the cave. Anyone been able to achieve this with success?

EDIT: to the pacifist reply, I want to clarify that Zero Shot is distinct from Pacifist. In ZS you can kill as many things as you like, in pacifist you cannot kill anything or use any weapon or use equipment or have gunners in your vehicles...its basically just running. It is impossible to beat levels on pacifist like the Covenant where you have to kill Chieftains and Scarabs to proceed (unless someone can find a glitch around them).

I'm not a Mythic player, but I love Legendary strategies.

Arbiter will only get up if you kill all of the closer enemies (the ones near him) or if you advance far enough that he will respawn (he should fade out of Active Camo).

Giving him the Beam Rifle won't work since he won't use it. He can use it, but I've tested this only with Carrier Forms on the back of a Mongoose.

Well, there are glitches that allow you to skip the Scarab fights. On The Storm, you can unload the Scarab by using the Mongoose clipping method or the Scarab Boarding Glitch. On The Covenant, do the Time Travel glitch. I don't have anything for the Chieftains however. So yes, pacifist on The Covenant is impossible.

Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Hey guys!

Wow. It's been crazy lately. I'm moving to a different city, switching jobs, and for those who have noticed my recent abscence on XBL for the past few weeks, yes I got the dreaded red ring :-(

Lots of projects going on now. I'll hopefully be done with the filming of "Shrine" in the next month or so in addition to a few other little film goodies for those of you who enjoy my work with the Halo 3 guides.

Ideally, I'd like to get the ODST guide out before the summer, but now I've run into a dilema. In the event that I can't get the Xbox fixed/replaced in time and can't finish the Mythic guide for Coastal Highway, should I pull a Mythic first and use someone elses video instead? I feel like they should all at LEAST be tested by me first before encouraging others to try...

Thoughts?
