The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

I don't even think there's a good way to know what's unfair and what's fair, someone can think that a game is unfair because you fight against more enemies than you have teammates.
I think it has to do with how much space there is.

Take Cairo's Station hanger battle as an example. Anymore reduction in space would make it unpleasantly difficult on Legendary let alone Mythic. This would be definitely unfair.

There's also lack of cover. For example, Cairo Station's last battle. You're mostly limited to medium range combat, in the elevator or behind those boxes right in front of you. Going any closer will cause Elites to approach your position.

A game with no cover and uber Elites hijacking elevators with no marine support would be scary as hell.
Space is a factor, that's for sure. The thing is that Bungie didn't reduce the space in Cairo Station, which makes it fair. I also haven't played Halo 2 SLASO so I don't know whether or not it's fair on that difficulty. But so far I haven't seen anything unfair in Reach, maybe the ending of LNoS but we did find the Pelican.

Yes. I am a Battle Rifle machine. The DMR is a poor replacement.

And I though Legendary was pretty tough...

Well I can say from experience that the area needs more space (or cover).

Going to the big box on the left side will cause Elites to approach you (one will climb onto the box, giving you some time to nail him with overcharged bolts). I managed to take out 1-2 Ultra Elites with this method, but an Elite went onto the railing and shot me from the side. If that railing could be blocked, I think the last part would be doable on Mythic.

Of course, staying back in the elevator also works, but I think it's more riskier.

Yeah if there was a lazy way to turn on the Skulls then I would most definitely try it. :P But that's the thing too...Skulls were kind of like easter eggs in Halo 2 so it's OK that it the game might be impossible with every single Skull turned on. In Halo 3 they were a feature, difficulty multipliers, which is something every person would use, at least for achievements. So turning all on shouldn't make the game impossible. That's what I think.

Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

Started Halo 3 mythic today, beat floodgate, nothing special but its a start. I also attempted Sierra 117 got past the first two skirmishes then died in a stupid way. Is it just me or can you absorb more damage on Reach mythic than on Halo 3?

Another question, I was inspired to try halo 3 mythic due to the fact that my internet sucks and I keep getting disconnected. My question is, is a video of the playthrough enough to count? Halfway through my sierra run I lost connection so I'm assuming that wouldn't show up on campaign scoring

Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

So on Sierra 117 i'm trying to do the method in the guide to skip the first battle but once I get around the first set of brutes the 2 phantoms are still spawning, what's the dealio?

Nvm, figured it out, I was taking to long to make it up the rock i think. When I made it up there on the first or second try the phantoms don't appear

Hey, good luck Leumas!

I thought Halo 3 was easier than Reach...if you got through Reach, you can get through Halo 3.

Yea, from what I can tell so far, the enemies themselves are easier to kill but the fact that the grunts spam grenades non-stop with precision accuracy is terrible. I think nearly all of my deaths so far have been from grunts with the exception of my most recent attempt where I got sniped.

Sierra 117 is pretty tough, the farthest i've gotten so far is into the sniper forest, been trying to beat it most of the day

Yeah, Sierra is one of the hardest.

Sierra was the reason I didn't get recon from the Summer Mythic Recon challenge...

This happened on my successful run of The Ark. As long as you're connected when you start and end the mission, the gamestats show up.
I disconnected from live just after killing the Scarab on The Ark, reconnected and finished the mission. The stats showed up.

Sierra 117 is my favourite mission, of all time. For the first jump, if you back up too much before jumping, you can hit the loading zone. You also need to be fairly quick making the jump.

I found Halo 3 to be harder, it takes less damage on Halo 3 to die. And punching an enemy doesn't instantly regain your shields/health, they take around 3-4 seconds to fully recharge.

Sierra 117 isn't that bad. Wait untill you play The Ark. :)

Not for me. The Ark is too long to be completed without Randomness killing you. Yeah that's my main enemy in Mythic. His name is Randomness.

Watch my film, it should be like any other film. You're supposed to jump in the Gravity Lift when the Scarab lands. When it lands, it will kind of bob its head forward and then back, that's when you step in the lift so you can land. It takes practice though, like everything else.

But that's the problem. I want to use the grav lift to skip the Hunters and Chieftain. There's a way to exit the level. I saw it in a speedrun video and used it for the level's megabattle. Grav lift makes it more easier to do it but the bubble shield also works (as cover).

But I have successfully done the gravity lift method before, albeit not on Mythic.

Never heard of using the Gravity Lift at the Hunter part. If it helps you then do that, but then you need to find a way to the Scarab. You could use the Missile Pod and try to shoot its back, or even get up on a crane and snipe it. Also, you can get a Mongoose up on the crane and jump to it, but it can get annoying if it only backs up.

Here's the video. Pause at 9:10. If you didn't kill any enemies you can deploy a bubble shield here or drop down and use the gravity lift.

Also, he gets on the Scarab by grenade jumping. Is there a regenerator on this level at that point or is using the missile pod/gravity lift the only reliable methods?

Damn..

I don't remember, but that method was cool, looks hard though. Plus, you're kind of screwed when you're on board anyway.

Don't know much about the rest, I would obviously just do my own method. Dealing with the Hunters are easy for me when there are no Marines around because I can just melee them with a Brute Shot or a Spiker.

Should be noted that I haven't played in a long while so there's a lot to it that I probably don't even know.

It's only hard without the equipment to guarantee your safety.

Yeah, but I'd prefer skipping the battles.

Well, I'll be getting Halo 3 films out soon and I'll include strategies (i.e. faster shortcut to elevator in third tower).

I suppose you can try obtaining a Regenerator before the Scarab battle from a Brute, are there any Regen drops before that part?
