The only thing I can think of is the War Chieftain's bodyguards, but I believe they drop power drains.
Oh right, are Bodyguards the only ones who can drop them?

Certain flood combat forms on the last level (if I remember correctly), but other than that, I don't believe so.

I suppose you could risk bashing a Grunt on board. That would require some fast paced action since the Brutes might charge. But if you manage to do it, then you'll get your shields up and you can proceed with killing the rest. Do you like to get on it with a Rocket or BR+PP?

I prefer charging War Chieftains, but yeah, I can do Grunts (or I could go for that Brute Captain).

I haven't really done the boarding in a while (except by using the AA Wraith) but I like using both I guess. Aiming isn't a problem for me. It's boarding.

Well, not much to do other than practicing your jump then. It took me a while to get that easy Gravity Lift jump to work too.

The real problem I have is dealing with those Ghosts at the lakebed. I've noticed that some of you headshot the rocket launcher marine and bring a plasma pistol. Would it work if I brought a full rocket launcher (from the weapon crate at the area with the drones) or do I have to bring a plasma pistol?

I always bring a full Rocket Launcher from the previous area. If I want a Plasma Pistol then I'll pick it up from one of the Ghosts, or on the Scarab if I manage to kill the Turret Grunt at the back before anyone else kills him.

I like to hide where the Gravity Lift is and try to headshot the Ghosts, or shoot them with the Rockets if they come too close, same with the Choppers.

Ok, one last question then. How do I get a bubble shield before Brutes deploy it? I need it for the part with the War Chieftain, because you can just crouch jump to activate the door.

Oh, and btw, here's one of my SLMSO strategies.

I was testing The Ark's rally point bravo (I started from the alpha point) and it was all fun and games until this happened:

I wanted to go down to the hologram generator (the video guide I saw on The Ark Mythic guide is gone =( ) so instead of going through the door to see the Chieftain, I rushed upstairs. I was waiting for the Chieftain to appear but he was taking some time. So I went back down and I found him dead in front of the door. I reloaded and this time, he made it. In Theater, I saw him running against the door until it opened. I reloaded and again, he had died.

Anybody had this happen to them before?

Edit:

Here's a clip.

Also, if you bypass the Jackals (I did it by using permanent invincibility mod but a frag to make them dive and a bubble shield would also work), they will usually charge their plasma pistols and after the cutscene, they will have lost their charge. This is shown at the beginning of the video.

Wow, that's actually pretty funny!

As for the Bubble Shields...kill 'em before the get the chance to use them has been my way of thinking. I don't really know what else, sometimes they even deploy them for no reason.

Did it happen to anyone you know?

Also, what do you think of my strategies? Are they too grandiose? Would they work on Mythic or are better suited for Legendary?

Well I think I may have found the solution. At 1:06 in this video, the guy picks up a bubble shield that was lying on the ground next to a br. So I think I can do The Storm on Mythic.

Im tempted to revisit The Storm on Mythic to finish my speedrun. By the way, there's 3 ways to board the Scarab. Grav Lift, Crane and Slide Jump. I'm trying to pull off the Slide Jump in a completed run :)

Actually, there's 4.

But really though, I'm aware of the slide jump, but can it be pulled off in a successful Mythic run?

Most definitely. It's my key trick in getting the record on that mission.
I once toyed around with the idea of skipping the scarab completely. Someone mentioned it was possible, but I could never get it down. Especially in a speedrun, it'd take far too much time to setup. Let alone pull off.

Good luck with that.

Skipping the Scarab? Take too much time to setup? Well the Scarab boarding by Wraith method can also be used to overload the level, removing the Scarab and allowing progression unlike the Mongoose clipping method.

Here's the positioning I used (there's more better positions, but I can't remember them).

Anyways, the input combo for this position is very simple: Boost + Hold A then rapidly tap RB
You can also hold the left stick 80 to 50 degrees for a slight increase in success. There are probably other combos but I haven't tested with this one very thoroughly.

If you positioned your Wraith exactly like in the video (I think this will work with standard Wraiths), you should be able to overload the level.

But with this position, you have to repeatedly tap RB as mentioned above. Rapidly mashing RB to get out of the AA Wraith is not usually necessary, but this particular positioning + input combo results in a potential collision with the wall. Rapidly mashing RB contributes to the lag which ultimately allows you to last long enough for the Scarab to disappear and for the Wraith to slow down, avoiding high speed impact.

There are two ways you can leave the Wraith unscathed while overloading the Scarab with this positioning. This or this is how they should look.

The failed attempt is because I didn't repeatedly tap the RB button when I felt that lag.
Finally, here's how you will know if it will certainly fail. Notice the difference of the Wraith's location between the failed attempt and this one. You may have to pause it because it's short.

This method is not very reliable for speedruns (it took me a heck lot of tries just to find the input combo and master it. you'd be better off just trying to board the Scarab, although it wouldn't really matter since the shield is indestructible until the Scarab reaches a certain point), but if you overload the level successfully with this method, it might contribute greatly.

Dark's back.
The Storm 9:59, 7 seconds slower than Pahat's run.
I didn't do the slide jump, it's so freaking hard to pull off.

Wow!
I second this.

Brute Bodyguards are still easy to kill. But there's no way I'm attempting The Storm on Mythic because my internet connection is intermittent.

It's actually 6, I counted wrong.
9:53 -> 9:59 is 6 seconds.

Anyway, Pahat, if you're still around. Expect some serious competition on The Storm and Halo.

Hahaha xD I wonder if he's still around, what was funny was that he always, always broke the record as soon as someone else did. I would laugh if you broke his record and he broke it again the day after.

He always lurks, he's probably reading this right now. But yes, I remember I beat his Sierra 117 run. He came back and beat it by over a minute...

Kind of creepy when you think about it...what a lurker. ^^

You just reminded me of Sierra 117 as a whole, I really liked that mission. Remember our Co-Op run?
