Bad news, good news.
Bad first: I managed to beat the scarab three times tonight but I didn't finish the level. It's frustrating while at the same time addicting and even fun in some parts. I made it to the hunters today after a grueling 15 minutes of trying to make the arbiter fight that last brute before the hunters. I emptied a full BR into one of their backs followed by 4 AR clips... but nothing. As I ran to fetch more ammo, a lone carbine shot flew through the back of my head and next thing I know, I'm in the passenger seat of a hog.
Good news: I found a pretty reliable strategy to beat the scarab without ever having to board it. That's right, I can beat the scarab most of the time with the missile pod.
Here's how you do it: When you get to the second lakebed, immediately make your way to the room between the missile pods. BR the two grunts below so they don't stick your missile pods. When the scarab drops, wait a few seconds and then unload as many missile pod rounds into the back of the scarab as you can from the missile pod on the right. When it starts to turn toward you, get off the missile pod and walk across to the other missile pod but do not get on it. The scarab should start to turn back around, facing its back to you. When its back is almost facing you, cross back to the right missile pod and fire more shots at its back. If you're patient, it will eventually fall (it took me about five minutes each time) and if you did it correctly, it won't have even fired at you. Note: Watch out for the secondary gun; as soon as you see it look at you, get off your missile pod and hide in the building. If somebody can help me, I can put a video up soon.
If somebody can help me with the hunters, I should be done The Storm by tomorrow.
Arbiter should be able to deal with the Hunters if you give him your Rocket launcher :-)
I will give the Scarab thing a go tonight since every time I've beaten it, it's been purely luck-based. Keep in mind though that the Scarab's AA gun can shoot through the walls of the missile pod building. It's cheap I know, but whatcha gonna do?
