And a matter of dedication.

Besides, can a person who surfs the Halo 3 forum really accuse someone else of not having a life? XD And a Heroic Member

When I finish Sierra 117 should I do Crow's Nest next?

I would save Crow's nest for second to last. I would do The Covenant next.

There are a few areas on Crow's Nest that make it gruelingly difficult, such as the Motor Pool area.

Ok, Covenant is my favourite level. (Probably won't be after i die 100000000000 times on it)
I just love the size of the level and the vehicle fights and the epic Scarab fight at the end.
I can tell its going to be tough.

Remember you can skip the first area by going out to sea and letting the game kill your enemies once you reach the canyon. Once it does, head back down and get the hog. Hand over the spartan laser to your passenger and watch the Banshees fall :-)

Hunters on that level. Invisible Brutes! (Or is that The Ark)
Does the Arbiter help you clear the Final Room in Tower #1? Because isn't there like 10 Brutes in there and a Chieftan with a Hammer.

  • 08.08.2008 3:36 PM PDT

im pretty sure the Arbiter helps you out, however he's not exactly a companion to rely on, so its only minimal help. BTW, congrats to anyone else who actually does complete this, because i remember putting on like 5 or 6 skulls to boost my score for the meta-campaign, and i could have cried at some parts!

It depends. Do you want a longer, easier level or a shorter, harder level? The Covenant is much easier than Crow's Nest, it's just a lot longer.

In all honesty, The Covenant was A LOT easier than I thought. Much like Sierra 117, the toughest battle of the level is the first one. Once you beat that, it gets easier, as long as you're careful with the Scarabs. I beat it on only my 3rd try (not to brag). Just make sure you use your laser wisely. I also agree with Tyrant, make Crow's Nest your 2nd last level and The Ark your last level.

  • 08.08.2008 4:03 PM PDT

I made it to the dam of Sierra 117 and probably could have beaten it. Killed off the Snipers and the Carbine Jackals. All the immediate Grunts were dead...but the one thing that I had anticipated to be at my disposal was the ability to backtrack for weapons at the Pelican...and then I found my path was blocked off. If I had known that, I would have brought the Sniper Rifle instead of the Beam Rifle. Oh well. At least now I know that.

Yay! Finished The Storm... and for future reference my missile pod trick worked 3/3 times tonight.

The film is sorta long (1:25:00) but it's because the Arbiter died in the brute street fight near the end and I kept trying to revive him. Destroying the AA gun took a while, too; I used rockets, a turret, a full BR, and a carbine before I realized I was aiming for the wrong spot... so I used a magnum and an AR to finish the job. I think I had the hunters beaten by about 45:00, so that means the last part took me about 40 minutes.

4/9 levels done. Am I wrong in thinking that I should go back and do Cortana before I move on to Sierra 117?

Nice job man! I personally would do Sierra 117 over Cortana, just because it's more predictable.

Gamer Tag = ODST Panda
Feet first into heck!!!

Speaking of Cortana, I got most of the way through the level, blew up the fusion reactor, or whatever it is, (the big pillars that you have to jump to over the giant doom pit and wack with a sword) went down the hall way that leads out of said giant doom pit room, and droped down the crack in the floor, only to be surrounded and owned by three or four sheilded flood elites. Any tips on how to beat this part?

They shouldn't be directly under you when you jump down, but if they are, you should do your best to avoid them. Taking on one or two Flood at a time isn't that bad, but three or four is pretty risky. You can read Tyrant's guides or watch successful runs from Jew man man or myself. Both of us have SLASO runs on our fileshare. Jew man man's about 2/3 done, I have all 9.

You can actually wait a couple of seconds and let them run. They will eventually disappear :-)

ATTENTION!!!

I have now started on a new mission in honor of both Halo 3's first anniversary and the fact that we've now reached 1500 posts! Woo! Thank you all for your contributions. I'm now starting on the Impossible Quest for C.L.A.S.O. Check out the OP for details. I will also be using this for the walkthroug. Sound like something you want to be apart of? Join in! :-D

I might be interested in that, if I can get back into SLASO form. BTW, you have the requirement set to "five four" completed SLASO levels in the OP. Might make a difference, lol.

I'm in. I have the idea of doing it perfectly like it is Master Chief actually doing it. For example, don't die at all, or don't start humping corpses. Stuff like that.
