Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

And watch my Storm video. Perfect examples of fights you have to engage.

Finished the Fight!

I think my biggest concern with trying SLASO is the ability to aim/shoot without the frakking crosshair on. How do you solve this problem, since rounds for the human firearms are mostly invisible? Please don't tell me you stick some sort of visual guide to the TV screen. It just goes against all of my FPS instincts to try to shoot from the hip. When sniping on MM, I always hit the scope button because I don't trust myself to go for no scope shots.

Most people try the black tape trick. It's not really "shooting from the hip" as your bullets will go where you place it so long as you do it correctly. I just leaned my remote against the screen :-P

What's the longest you've spent on a single SLASO run? Like one completed level.

My run on The Covenant took me just shy of two hours.

The Ark took you longer though didn't it?

Hmm...you know, I don't use the black tape trick or anything, really.

I can just kind of..."tell" where I will be shooting, if that makes any sense. Besides, with weapons like the Carbine and BR, firing it allows you to see where you're hitting, so you can make adjustments for the next shot.

Do I have to necessarily engage in a fight whenever I'm confronted, or can I just use sneakan and runnan to get past enemy AI?

I'd like to think I could just bunny hop my way past most fights.

If you can pull it off, be my guest. Reason I do it my way is because you have a higher probability of success. If you just run it, you're relying mostly on chance. But in that case the choice is entirely up to the player.

Awright. then. As soon as my box gets back i'll be all over this challenge thing.

There's a similar challenge for MGS4 on pstripple i might try while my 360 is out for repairs. It's equally difficult IMO. It's called the BigBoss Challenge.

- Complete in under 5:00

- Have 0 continues

- Use 0 health items (Rations, Noodles, Regain)

- Have 0 Alerts

- Have 0 kills

- Use of special items (Stealth/Bandana) is forbidden.

- Complete on The Boss Extreme mode

I meant single runs. In terms of how many attempts, yeah, The Ark took by far the most. But my successful run on The Ark was about an hour and 15 minutes. My successful run on The Covenant was nearly 2 hours.

OMG!!! I just found the greatest glitch ever... for SLASO questers. I hope this is'nt old and Im the last person to know or something but if you save and quit right after you die, when you are still looking at your body, then start up your game again, you will start at the last checkpoint you got before you died. This means that you don't have to go through an entire level to get to, and practice, the part you always fail at again, and again... i.e. Tsavo Highway (Brute Blocade), or Crows Nest (Motor Pool) Its like having rally points at every check point.

Oh, and if you are planning on dieing like 30 times and then finally completing the mission, and saying you did whatever mission on SLASO... It dosent count... and we will be able to see those deaths on your game details when you try to show us the proof you did it.

This should definatly be in the OP in General Tips or something so people know about it...

I realized this at one point, but decided not to use it. Besides, if even 1 death shows up, that would be proof enough that they died, which would invalidate the run, correct?

Most of us do know about this glitch, yes, but as long as you don't die on your final run, it will show that you had no deaths when you actually complete the level, although it will show a very short time. We had one guy a while ago claim to have beaten SLASO and he obviously used this trick, considering he beat Sierra 117 in less than 2 minutes, lol.

If someone were to use this trick to beat SLASO Campaign, we don't consider it legit. After all, it defeats the purpose of the Iron skull. That's why it's a very good idea to save your successful runs, just so you have proof that you did it.

I realize this... Im just talking about using it to practice certain parts of levels so you can get better at them and develope better strategies.

I actually used this method to practice the hammer jumps on the Halo level, but then when back and did them all. Then it hit me, if I'm just practicing, why bother to use the Iron Skull at all? After all, it doesn't affect any actual gameplay, just what happens if you die. So then I just started practicing without the Iron Skull on until I was ready for the real thing.

Don't bother using that trick, it isn't considered a successful run if you do. If you want to practice, just turn the Iron skull off and then do it.

Its true. Practice without the Iron skull on to develope sound strategies for each area of the levels (or just watch my videos) until you can get through the level without dying. Then you will be ready for the Iron skull.

Matt1983:Thickest and Maulers title should be "Im black"
Thickest: Not bad. Simple and to the point. "Affirmative Action" works as well.
Matt198: lulz. we need 2 more members. Who else is black?
Saiyan: Im sort of light-brownish. Does that count?
Mcgooch: LOL. no
Saiyan: I give up
Thickest: LMAO

I tried to do a level yesterday....it didnt end well at all. I never realized how hard it is to aim without the reticule.
