OMG!!! I just found the greatest glitch ever... for SLASO questers. I hope this is'nt old and Im the last person to know or something but if you save and quit right after you die, when you are still looking at your body, then start up your game again, you will start at the last checkpoint you got before you died. This means that you don't have to go through an entire level to get to, and practice, the part you always fail at again, and again... i.e. Tsavo Highway (Brute Blocade), or Crows Nest (Motor Pool) Its like having rally points at every check point.

Oh, and if you are planning on dieing like 30 times and then finally completing the mission, and saying you did whatever mission on SLASO... It dosent count... and we will be able to see those deaths on your game details when you try to show us the proof you did it.

This should definatly be in the OP in General Tips or something so people know about it...

Most of us do know about this glitch, yes, but as long as you don't die on your final run, it will show that you had no deaths when you actually complete the level, although it will show a very short time. We had one guy a while ago claim to have beaten SLASO and he obviously used this trick, considering he beat Sierra 117 in less than 2 minutes, lol.

If someone were to use this trick to beat SLASO Campaign, we don't consider it legit. After all, it defeats the purpose of the Iron skull. That's why it's a very good idea to save your successful runs, just so you have proof that you did it.

I meant the people on this forum, and I'm pretty sure Bungie as well. Think about it, SLASO includes the Iron skull, what would be the purpose of that if you could just Save and Quit and resume where you started?

I was wondering. Say if you reach 3/4 through a level. But you didn't die. You saved and quit. Resumed later and completed it and didn't die at all. But you didn't have a video to prove it and the played time made everyone suspicious and they didn't belive you. But you proved it. Would you have to do it again? Or could you just supply both halfs of the video or something.

You would have to do it all over again. The reason being is that you could get 3/4 through the level without dieing, then Save and Quit. Then you could try and try as many times as it took to get the last 1/4 right, then show 2 videos of you doing the whole level, even though it may have taken several attempts to do the last 1/4 part right.

Long story short, if you Save and Quit, you have to restart from scratch.

Good point. I haven't tried this, nor do I intent do. I was just wondering.

Tyrant: I watched your Floodgate run over the weekend. It was the first SLASO run I've ever seen and I was thoroughly impressed.

I feel pretty confident that I could mimic your run on Legendary with no skulls (maybe some silver ones).

Can't wait to watch the rest and hopefully accomplish my own goals!

Glad you enjoyed it :-) Yes, though this is a SLASO run, really it applies to any level of difficulty, and I'm glad it could help you :-)

I got a new TV yesterday. So Im gotta get used to it, I'm going to go do some SLASO.

Btw, August 16th i took the black tape off and done better with it off. I wasted a bit more ammo on the Snipers because they were long range and I didn't really know where I was shooting. But I found it easier on the Grunts etc because I could see there heads. Rather than seeing a Grunt with a black head :O. But I'm going to put it back on for my new TV untill I'm used to were im aiming.

Oh and yeah, I reached the end of the level and only had the Chieftan and a Carbine Brute left that attempt. With it off, I managed to reach the final area every single time. Then I got bored of dying at the end and played Guitar Hero 3.

lol. You might want to try using translucent tape as you can still see throught it and have a generally idea of where you're shooting. The only area where this becomes more important is when facing off with the Jackal Snipers :-)

The Chieftain is a tough one.

The Cortana walkthrough will be interesting to say the least. I believe I've found a solid way of dispatching the Elite combat forms every time. A charged plasma pistol shot followed by a punch will take care of them. If only there was more plasma pistol ammo. Why does that crate in the projector room mysteriously vanish when you revisit?

Anyway, I did come across a regular Legendary walkthrough of Cortana on youtube and it was... terrible. The narrator spent most of his time bashing the level and just "hoping" to make it through certain areas.

If you play it my way, you will look at this level in a whole new light and actually have some fun :-)

That's a pretty tall order. Cortana is a pretty big pain in the @$$

lol. The only annoying part I found was the bantering between Cortana and Gravemind. You'll find that Cortana is actually a very tactical level and highly managable if given the right approach. A few people in here have actually gotten to see my method of getting through.

The Flood don't constantly respawn like in previous games either, meaning that there is a set number of combat forms and pure forms. Once you grasp that concept, you start to view the level differently. Just like in Covenant based levels, you have the ability to safely clear out each area, and thanks to Black Eye, you should be able to enter each area with full shields.

Whether or not people use the guides partially or use them verbatim or just not at all is strictly up to them. Would I count it as legit? Absolutely. Even if people are taking tips, it's doubtful that they will get it on the first run or even the first few. It's Halo, which means there are several unknown factos that come into play in each mission. The guide is there to help guide you, not do it for you.

The Ranged Flood can be annoying at times but are managable, Typically when you kill one they drop spike grenades.

Be careful though. If you kill them via grenade, then throw another grenade. The grenade you threw and the Spike Grenade will explode. So be careful.
