Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

use a plasma pistol to take out brute sheilds or use a sniper or what i do is use plasma pistol on brutes then use a br to finishthem off then at the hunters i use a sniper rifle to take them out.

As far as the Hunters are concerned, you won't be able to pull that off with Mythic and Tilt on.

Put it to you this way. Put both those skulls on, then set it to legendary. Now try to kill a Brute using nothing but a BR. Now imagine that effect on a Hunter using only a Sniper rifle. Same thing occurs.

Loose talk is noose talk.

I should have my Storm video by tomorrow. As always, it will be shorter than Tyrant's.

Well this is rather odd. I'm at the roundabout, and not a Chopper in sight. I don't want to discount the possibility that they're still around. And yet, going for the Wraith seems rather safe. There are two Warthogs driving around the area to help me. Hmm...

Sometimes the Choppers don't spawn, or they just don't come around the corner. Also, theres a Plasma Pistol on the flood under the broken bridge next to a dead grunt. Also near it theres a Fuel Rod Gun.

Now the question is, is it shorter than my original run. The one that was 90% luck :-)

  • 08.22.2008 11:20 AM PDT

I managed to steal the Wraith...but as soon as I got in I got blown up my another Wraith.

I suppose I should mention for the last few runs, I haven't been using the Warthog provided at the start. No, I have been using the Transport Warthog.

It may not have a turret, but right after you kill those first two Jackals, you can equip both passengers on the right-side with Beam Rifles. To make matters more interesting, once I'm ready, I switch my passenger's Beam Rifle for a Fuel Rod Gun, use it to kill a Grunt in a turret, then give the Beam Rifle to the passenger in the back.

I've been assaulting the Chieftan with an onslaught of hit and run as I keep driving around this rock. Every now and then I get out of his range and park the Warthog at an angle that allows the back and back-right passenger to both shoot their Beam Rifles at him.

I usually give the beam rifle to the passenger until I get the fuel rod cannon. Then I swap one for the other.

I do the same when using the regular Warthog. The advantage of the Transport Hog is that your Beam Rifle guy can get the Jackals on the dam so you don't have to worry so much about flipping over and getting nailed.

Now that I'm starting to feel braver with using a BR against Jackal Snipers, I may try that approach for Tsavo Highway :-)

  • 08.22.2008 12:32 PM PDT

The only problem is that the first Chieftan takes a long time to kill without the regular Warthog. I actually switched off with the flipped one at the dam once the dam was clear of Jackals.

Just killed the Chieftan in the 3rd tower. I wasted 1 Lazer shot which I missed when aiming for the Chieftan. And my PP ran out of ammo when there was 1 Brute still alive. So I layed a bubble shield down and grabbed 2 Flame Grenades which I threw at the Chieftan, didn't kill him, but distracted him while I managed to assassinate the the last remaining Brute and steal his Flame Grenades, threw them at the Chieftan and killed him. De-activated the tower and killed the flood. Went down, and suddenly got killed by Drones! Before, I killed the Hunters and most of the Drones, but they flew off somewhere and I couldn't find them. So I progressed forward and went up the tower.

Anyone know what happened?

It's too bad you weren't there for our practice run on The Covenant, other wise you would've known that if you wait too long more drones spawn in after you decend from the tower :-)

So I have to be fast when I come down after I killed the Chieftan. Damn, I didn't know that. Anyway, : 1 Hour Remaning!

Good luck with Sierra 117 tonight guys!

  • 08.22.2008 1:38 PM PDT

I fail to see how using a Fuel Rod Gun to kill Hunters requires luck...but w/e.

  • 08.22.2008 1:53 PM PDT

Loose talk is noose talk.

I'll make it so it is 78.7% strategy, the rest luck.

SLASO always requires a great deal of luck. The other 2 video walkthroughs I did are pure strategy, perfected after many tries.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Are you simply trying to make yourself look better than Tyrant?

  • 08.22.2008 2:39 PM PDT

No... even though I am.... a genius!

He's the better at Halo SLASOing. But in terms of better and smarter ideas there are no substitutes to me.

Congrats CLASOers on completing Sierra 117 Quad CLASO tonight! Tomorrow we'll meet up again and try to knock out Crow's Nest. What time? 1pm EST. Be there! :-)

Also, here's the GameVee video of Sierra 117 S.L.A.S.O.

Enjoy!

Good news, Tyrant. Our Sierra 117 run is actually shorter than the SLASO video you just posted.

Do you plan on uploading it?
