Subject: My Quest for SLASO (Updated 5/22/2008)

Rock on. Sierra 117 ended with me noticing something rather strange. The Sargent Johnson I found stuck at the Pelican somehow ended up at the dam after I released the other Johnson. The result was that I got not one, but two copies of him on to the Pelican.

Three missions left. I can't find the game logs using my game history, but using the "View Game Details" function of films in my file share, I can get to it.

Edit: For some stupid reason, I want to attempt the Ark. I'll give you a brief history lesson.

Way back when I was working on my Metagame achievements, I used the Iron Skull in addition to others. I got through all the missions...and then I hit the Ark. The Ark finally got me, and I had to switch my skull setup so I could get through it.

Anyways, as it is, I prefer going in to each SLASO mission blind of my over-all strategy, developing ideas for each area as I progress and refining them as I do so. Even if I don't intend to complete it before the others, I can gather ideas for the areas I do get to now.

Feet first into heck!!!

On The Covenant, at the end, with the two Scarabs... thats where I am right now. I need advice on how to advance though. Should I use the Hornet, or the Scorpion? And do those Banshees respaun? Because If they do Im pretty much screwed...or is there a certain number of them I have to take out so I can get to the Scarabs? Someone with experience on this part of the level please give me some advice. I know the rest of the level is a cake walk after this...

I highly recommend blowing up all the banshees with the Scorpion, and THEN use the Hornet to blow up the Scarabs. Problem is, the marines will often take all or all but one Hornet, so once you reach that area, grab a Hornet and hide it right behind the ledge next to you so it won't get taken or blown up, then just blast the Banshees and the top of the Scarabs (to kill all the Brutes on top) with the tank. If you're lucky, while blasting the banshees with the Scorpion, the Scarab on the right will expose its back, use this oppurtunity to blow it up if you can.

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Thanks Tyrant for the walkthroughs. Last night, with your guidance, I was able to beat Floodgate and Halo on Legendary (not SLASO). I did a lot of running and let the Arbiter do a lot of the work, but I beat them. I had previously beaten Sierra 117 and Crows Nest. I tried doing Cortana and it still messes me up. I'll have to look at your video some more.

Glad I could help :-)

I lot of people have a problem getting lost in Cortana or overwhelmed. Watch my video to see how you can prevent both those things from happening. And congrats on beating both Floodgate and Halo :-)

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I tried Cortana again last night. I have almost NO problem getting to Cortana. It's the return trip that always kills me simply because I am unaware of enemy spawn locations.

I was in the big circular room, the one with a terminal that isn't really a terminal. It has a Gravity Hammer on the way there on the bottom.

Anyway... I didn't think the enemies from the last area would follow me because I used camo to slip by them. One with a mauler comes up and one shots me. =(

I used to have problems with that area too. It's far better to stay and fight and save the camo for later. Watch my video and how I set up that area the first time around to make it easier on the return.

And a BIG congradulations goes out to Vince for completing Sierra 117! I know that level can be frustrating but nice job on sticking through it :-)

Do we have an update on the Hunters?

I discovered a way to conserve BR ammo when fighting grunts and flood. I'm sure you already know this, Tyrant, but I like stating it anyway.

As you pull the trigger to fire, press melee almost at the exact same time, causing one bullet and only one bullet to fire. If this hits the flood's 'head' or the grunt's head, it is a one hit kill. I'm not too good at accuracy with it, but it's useful to conserve BR ammo on levels where ammo is scarce.

As I said, I'm sure you already know this and have done this, but I just like stating it anyway.

Actually, while I was aware of it, I never really put it into practice and is good to know. Thank you for bringing it to the community's attention :-)

Im currently in the 3rd tower. I just killed the Hunters + Drones. But I only have 2 Lazer Shots left. I had to use 1 on the Hunter because I had nothing else to kill him. So, is it possible to kill the Chieftan in 2 Lazer Shots?

Yes, but you are going to have to bring down his shields with a plasma pistol first.

When you manage to kill him, upon your decent, if you're facing the exit, move to your left. Going right will trigger the Drones.

I was able to on my speed run. Don't know if I will for the stratgegic one though. You might want to take it slow and just kill everything. There will be at least two Brutes with maulers and you don't want them taking you off guard.
