Last time they said the stat, only two people have officially done it while online.

Only two....hmmm. I think I'll try to do this myself.

Up to 5 now.

Soon to be 6 :)

Make that 7. I believe Vince has as many levels under his belt as you do now :-)

I will say that there's always that possibility that people have done it and just haven't come forward. About 1500 posts ago I asked a Bungie employee to comment and help us to get our facts straight on the numbers but they never did. I believe Bungie is ignoring the SLASO community for whatever reason...

There's always the possibility someone who doesn't have xbox live and doesn't have bungie.net account has beaten it SLASO.

True, but without proof, there's no real way of knowing. Really, only people who have beaten the game while online are the only ones who make my list. Bungie more than likely knows who the online people are as well.

Apparently I only had 4 lazers. 2 on the Wraith, 1 on the Hunter and 1 on the Chieftan. Which kinda sucked. Couldn't kill the Chieftan, had to restart.

Yeah, that area can be tough, which is why you should always have at LEAST 2 laser shots when you go to the top of the 3rd tower. Even if you don't, you can still kill the Chieftain if you snagged the Invincibility from the Weapon Chieftain in the 1st tower. Use it and engage him in a melee war.

The last 2 times, He hadn't dropped it. And he didn't use it either. I kill the first to Brutes that charge and then kill him. Then kill the last 2 and go too see if he dropped it and he didn't

I'm thinking about the Ark more closely and thinking of how many "recovery" rooms there are. By that I mean, rooms where you can recover lost shields with ease.

So far, I can think of the following:
Landing Zone (Anti-Air Wraiths. Board and smash to bits)
Silent Cartographer, 1st Floor (Sleeping Grunts and Brute who is preoccupied)
Silent Cartographer, Basement Floor 1 (Grunt on patrol outside room, Brute on patrol inside room. Sleeping Grunts)
Silent Catrographer, Basement Floor 2 (Brute Stalkers...though they may be harder to kill SLASO)

Edit: If Jew man man has 3 levels left, Tyrant, then yes, I do have just as many done as him now. But I expect he will finish before me.

Loose talk is noose talk.

I'll try The Storm one more time. I hope this time Arby kills the Nuclear Space Hunters From Hell.

Try giving him Rockets before the Hunter fight but after the Brutes.

I just created a group to help me keep track of all people who have done SLASO and who are currently working on it. It's called The Quest for SLASO.

It is in no way meant to cast out SonicJohn's group, but since his seems to be rather inactive, and we've had a large number of people start quests of their own, I'd like a better way of keeping track. If you have completed SLASO or are in the progress of doing so, I strongly urge you to join up. You must have completed at least one level on SLASO and have absolute proof to qualify.

Also, I'd like to add that the groups forums are only meant to keep track of progress. Please save all questions, comments, and concerns for this thread and this thread only. Any posted on the group forum that isn't related to your progress will be instantly deleted.

On another note, Team CLASO times will be listed there as well. Thank you!

Loose talk is noose talk.

I know. But you know what I hate the most? Fighting all the way through the level just to die of the stupidest reasons. Spiker Brutes, I'm looking at you.

You would not belive what just happened. I reached the SCARAB fight. Killed all the Banshee's and everything. Grabbed my Hornet and killed all the enemies on the first Scarab. Landed my Hornet on it and punched the reactor. Didn't kill it, because my Hornet fell of and I couldn't find it. I was looking around everywhere and couldn't find it. Suddenly I heard the other gun fire at me. 49 minutes gone! God damn it!

Anyway, the same run, somehow while making my way back towards the Hornets, I found a guy with a Fuel Rod Gun. So my Hornet was fully loaded with a Splazer and a Fuel Rod Gun.

It was also lucky that guy came on my Hornet with a Fuel Rod Gun. Because the Chieftan's one dissapeared before the Hunter fight!

Have you practiced the level without the Iron Skull on yet?

You know why I don't like doing that? What if I beat it without dying?

Then you should be able to do it again. That happened to me on Tsavo Highway. I beat the level with all skulls on except for Iron and didn't die. So I reloaded the level from the beginning, switched on Iron, and did it again. It's one of the best ways to prove a working strategy.

Loose talk is noose talk.

Sounds good. Looks like a good strategy.

I will say that I glanced at Starocean's video and have this to say: you've got ballz!

Particularly at the end where you jacked the wraith with the other two around plus the choppers. I usually destroy two of the wraiths to avoid being bombarded while I'm either trying to enter another one or trying to make my way across the bridge. That way I can keep a safe distance from the Brutes on the other side. The Marines seem to do a pretty good job of dealing with the choppers though :-)

Aside from that, you seem to use a number of my strategies.

The other thing that got me was how you destroyed the Drones' shield door before killing the Drones. I found that to complicate things. What was your inspiration?

For CLASO, you lead the Crow's Nest since you are phenominal at that level. I'll lead Tsavo Highway since I'm less of a risk taker ;-)

I have a question: My fileshare only has space for 6 vids. Halo 3 has nine missions. What shall happen once I have 7 missions done?

Delete the oldest ones but keep them saved on your profile on your Xbox.

All of those are true except against the Stalkers; you aren't going to melee kill them, I guarantee it, lol. You may be able to melee one of the two shielded jackals though, but that probably won't matter since you'll be assassinating the Chieftain in the next area anyway.

Even with all these oppurtunities to regain shields, The Ark is still by FAR the hardest level.

  • 08.25.2008 10:50 AM PDT

Operation Hunter punter is go.

...I'm trying to kill the first two Hunters on the Ark. I'm fairly confident that if I can cause one to follow me like they did on the Covenant, I will successfully lead them in to my trap. My weapon to pester them with is a Spiker.

Anyways, my Tsavo Highway run is on my file share, and it sounds like I did some of the same things he did. I like to kill the shield door so I can get rid of the Brutes and kill the Drones while they're in one big group.
