I will say that I glanced at Starocean's video and have this to say: you've got ballz!

Particularly at the end where you jacked the wraith with the other two around plus the choppers. I usually destroy two of the wraiths to avoid being bombarded while I'm either trying to enter another one or trying to make my way across the bridge. That way I can keep a safe distance from the Brutes on the other side. The Marines seem to do a pretty good job of dealing with the choppers though :-)

Aside from that, you seem to use a number of my strategies.

The other thing that got me was how you destroyed the Drones' shield door before killing the Drones. I found that to complicate things. What was your inspiration?

For CLASO, you lead the Crow's Nest since you are phenominal at that level. I'll lead Tsavo Highway since I'm less of a risk taker ;-)

I find I'm pretty good at dodging Choppers, so I wasn't really concerned about them as long as I had enough space. You'll also see my plasma pistol the Wraith JUST before I board it. I do this because if I don't, it will often spin around and point the wrong way, and by the time I turn it around, I get blasted by the other Wraith.

Also, when I did my run, I didn't know you didn't have to destroy the shield door before triggering the Drones.

Sounds fair, I was thinking you could lead Tsavo Highway anyway since you're a bit fresher with it than I am. I'll volunteer for The Ark too, since I got so much practice with it, lol.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Operation Hunter punter is go.

...I'm trying to kill the first two Hunters on the Ark. I'm fairly confident that if I can cause one to follow me like they did on the Covenant, I will successfully lead them in to my trap. My weapon to pester them with is a Spiker.

Anyways, my Tsavo Highway run is on my file share, and it sounds like I did some of the same things he did. I like to kill the shield door so I can get rid of the Brutes and kill the Drones while they're in one big group.

Your "trap"? Please do elaborate :-)

Loose talk is noose talk.

I like that... Operation Hunter Punter.

To the guy who did Floodgate: 15 minutes... could be shorter, but nice job.

Sounds good to me :-) You're a bit fresher with the Ark, and hopefully by then Vince will be able to find a way to kill the Hunters. You also seem to know it better than I.

I also feel confident in leading our Cortana run. That may be one mission where having more than one player will come in great handy if I plan it right :-)

  • 08.25.2008 10:58 AM PDT

I guess you could say that a Hunter so willing to chase me down and never shooting is berserk. I intend to make him follow me back to the previous area, where I will go up to the sniping platform and use the Plasma Turrets.

...that or I could stick to the new plan. Every now and then a Hunter decides to go hang out by the cliff. With Tough Luck on, they tend to hop away from grenades, so I think I'm going to toss a grenade to the left of them, which should hopefully make them leap to the right...combined with the explosion, I'm hoping that leap will push them off the cliff.

The first idea may get you killed seeing as how stationary turrets tend to be death traps in campaign. Still be interesting to watch though :-)

  • 08.25.2008 11:17 AM PDT

Eureka!

The Hunter jumped right off the cliff which in turn berserked the other Hunter. However, it turns out that a Hunter can get up on to the sniper platform. He was so heavy, he caused it to fall to the ground, too. Eventually he started using his assault cannon, though. While they're berserk, Hunters don't care about dodging grenades, so I couldn't kill the second one in the same manner. I think next time, I'll leave him be and then lure him to the same fate.

I found a new tactic to clear the First Tower. Clear the outside as normal. Grab the Invisibility and run in. Use it as soon as you enter and run left. Jump onto the stacked Supply Cases and jump up into the ledge above you. Run across and activate the lift. Go up and kill the first 2 Brutes. Long range PP the Chieftan and kil him with BR. Then kill the remaining Brutes and grab the Invincibility and descend. Use it and run out. Takes about 5minutes.

That's actually what I did on my original run :-P lol. But thanks for pointing it out :-)

You can also run to the left and kill the Grunts and Jackals quickly without the Invisibility. And still jump up on the Supply Cases then onto the ledge. But you have to be fast.

For the strategic run I will probably just clear out the entire first room area entirely. Sure it takes longer, but you get to keep your camo for the Chieftian. Plus you still get to skip the second room :-)

And don't forget to be on for CLASO in an hour! Star seems to have a pretty good Quad CLASO strat cooking for Crow's Nest :-)

Loose talk is noose talk.

I had the weirdest moment today. You know in The Storm where you have to kill the Hunters by giving Arby the rockets? Well, I gave him the rockets and I got his sword in return. What shocked me was that the sword had a near infinite charge (I don't know the exact number, blind was on, so was all skulls except for Iron). I managed to kill both hunters with the sword, the Chieftain, and a Brute. I should have a video later on today.

Happened to me once. Its supposed to drop with 1 energy, good for 1 swing. But sometime it glitches.

I cannot say how pissed I am right now. I was doing Halo SLASO. I made it to the end of thedriving part "90% Chief!" , when a bunch of Sentinals shot me, rolling my warthog off a cliff.

Tsavo Highway S.L.A.S.O. is now up on GameVee. Enjoy! :-)

It seems that for the most part we're not going to be killing and/or launching off a cliff the Hunters on CLASO.

When I do the Ark, though, I'm going to make one fall off a cliff. I don't even know if I want to bother with the other one.

You may just want to skip around the Hunters entirely by hopping around to the left hand side of the area.

  • 08.25.2008 5:13 PM PDT

Lmao. I got them both to fall off the cliff!

Just watch what I did, my run on The Ark was nearly flawless.

  • 08.25.2008 5:25 PM PDT

Loose talk is noose talk.

I am nearly done with The Storm. Just a few more areas to go now. Stupid Scarab refuses to show me it's backside...

  • 08.25.2008 5:49 PM PDT

I actually got a good amount of experience in on the Ark. I made it up to the group of enemies just before I would encounter the first Wraith.

I made it through the crashed Pelican area with no shields, recovered them, and with no Marine assistance spent all three of my rockets to destroy the two parked Choppers and parked Ghost so the enemies didn't have a chance to use them. I ended up luring the Chopper and Ghost that are already occupied over the hill and got rid of them...well, actually the Grunt landed on his hood. It counted as being flipped and so I PPed it which pushed it in the way of the Grunt's grenade throw.

Considering the fact that I had no experience with those areas with SLASO settings, I'd say I did well.
