The end bit is nothing short of epic. The Scarab fight is amazing. The music and everything.. I love it. But then I hate the bit after :(

It's not easy, but try to come prepared as it truly is the last place you want to die. Bring plenty of BR ammo if you can find any.

So in a melee war against a Weapon Chieftain, I can kill them roughly 80% of the time. Just like normal Brutes, they have specific melee types. When they do their long range jumping melee, that means I'm pretty much toast, but they only seem to do it when they have a height advantage over me. Aside from that, plasma pistoling them JUST before they hammer you will stun them long enough to spin around and assassinate them. Not that it's really that useful to SLASO since it's so risky, I just wanted to have some fun trying it.

What sensitivity you playing on? Because I play on 10, so its probably easier to spin around and assassinate them for me.

I usually use 4, sometimes 5.

While I don't recommend anyone do this, it might be useful on The Ark if you rush the Weapon Chieftain at the end. I found that if I did, he didn't have time to pull out his hammer so even if I missed the assassination, he just tried to backhand me instead of hammer, so it was an easy kill.

At least that Chieftian is a fairly easy one :-)

In your face, Brute!

I managed to jack the AA Wraith on the Covenant despite his constant spinning in circles. Time to see how well a SLASO Wraith holds up against an AA Wraith.

And how did it hold up?

  • 08.27.2008 7:12 PM PDT

...I got killed by a Banshee right off the bat. I kept taking damage after I would board it and get off.

But I did think of a way we can use it during Co-op with ease. No spinning Brute what-so-ever.

So, I was doing a decent run on the Covenant. Got up to the Hunters and then...and then Arbiter screwed everything up when he berserked. He brought a Hunter over by me, and the Hunter used its Assault Cannon on him which also launched a supply crate in front of the door and completely blocked my exit.

I should have just used my Invincibility and pwned.

On the note of fighting the first Chieftan, yeah. BRing him works a.o.k.

Im currently outside the first tower clearing it out in a Wraith. And my controller has ran out of batteries. So I need to go to the shop to get some more. And it's my first try today, so if I complete it first time I'll be sooo happy.

Go into a level without blind and trace the reticle on the br with a highlighter, then put blind on, at least you have a cursor.

I personally don't need to. I can tell where I am aiming now without any help. I stopped using the black tape trick.

black tape trick? i've been using my orange highlighter since getting the blind skull in halo 2. It was a b*tch getting the IWHBYD skull after i picked it up though. Getting gang raped by 28 ultra elites is not a fun saturday.

Vince, your extra fuel rod idea was brilliant! I comboed it with my own. Here's what I did.

First I brought over the fuel rod gun from the first tower. Once I landed at the third, I put it down in a safe place and grabbed the Chieftians fuel rod with less ammo. I gave that one to the Arbiter. Then I went and grabbed mine again and used the supply crate to fill it up. Now I had 30 rounds total :-D Arbiter entered and cleared out some of the Drones and distracted the Hunters while I let 'em have it with the Fuel Rod Gun. In short, they fell rather quickly and I had plenty of ammo to spare.

From there, the Arbiter used his to decimate all the Brutes and remaining Drones. All was great until my laser fell off the elevator platform. But now it looks like I have a pretty solid, repeatable strategy up until the Scarab fight. Still looking for a better way to deal with it.

I made it up to the final Chieftan on Crow's Nest. I was trying to double check if this one Brute was dead, and apparently he was, because the Chieftan had closed in and blew me up with the FRG.

When I cleared the Scarabs, I was able to kill the first one while still in the Scorpion. Which made the 2nd one easier to kill. While I was in the Scorpion, both Scarabs were fireing on the Pelican which was stuck in the corner. Leaving the right ones back open to me, so I fired away and destroyed it. Not sure if its repeatable because I've only been able to pull it off once. And it helps to stay in the Scorpion while you clear the enemies of the Scarab so when you go to land on it, its easier to kill the Scarab because there's less enemies to kill (StaroceanZero's method there).

For that area, right off the bat you should plasma pistol the two brutes closest to you, drop one plasma pistol, switch to BR, kill the two grunts close to you, back up, kill the grunt on the left when he comes up the stairs then wait a few seconds. The Chieftain will often fire at this point and may even kill the remaining grunt or the 2 berserking brutes. Anyway, once you get back to that area, those two brutes will often stand on top of the crates to the left and right. Get the easy headshots in and kill the last grunt while keeping an eye on the Chieftain. Once they're out of the way, long range plamsa pistol the Brute on the turret and BR him. Then use invis to assassinate the Chieftain, but make sure you plasma pistol him first!

Sadly it isn't. When I got there yesterday, the Pelican decided to camp behind me so both Scarabs were facing my direction the entire time.

Ok didn't think so. I'll try it again later. I'm going to go out now to get some more batteries.

I find the Hornet to be a wise idea only when the first Scarab is down. So if both Scarabs are facing in the player's direction, I'm drawing a blank.

The Scarabs didn't give me a hard time at all. After I disposed of the banshees and all the enemies on top of the Scarabs, I just landed on top of the one on the right, blew it up, grabbed my Hornet (which was still on top of the Scarab) and got to a safe distance before it blew up. I did the same thing with the 2nd Scarab, only my Hornet fell off, but still did it no problem.
