Just came back from a massive flame war in a similar topic in zanzibar. I just wanted to pose the same question for the regulars of the Library, (and having much more trust that this particular forum will not degenerate into a flame war), I ask: Is there really a difference between the Halo 1/Halo 2 sniper rifle? Does it take less skill to use one over the other? More skill?

the snipers seems the same, the only difference is the autoaim in halo 2, makesa it a teeny bit easier, hardly notcieable

ell i was playing with my frien whos never played and he dominated me with the sniper. yet he could barley shoot the thing in halo 1. i thnk it IS a BIT unfair. i think that masters of it in halo 1 like me dont like it as much and people who occasionaly used it now are like cool im good

It DEFINITELY takes less skill to use the Halo 2 sniper, and anyone who says otherwise is just being blind and dumb. Halo 1 require you to lead your shots most of the time, and in Halo 2 it is rare that snipers have to lead their shots much, unless they're trying to sniper all the way across Coag or Waterworks. True, the H2 sniper rifle has more of a kickback to it, which makes getting headshots more important, but headshots are really easy to get anyways. Frankly, I don't even notice the kickback.

I dunno about that lead thing tho, I mean trying to take someone out on a moving vehicle in Halo 2 takes a lot of leading. I guess someone really needs to sit down with either copies of the game, make a basic comparison of certain aspects, and then record the findings with video. Anything that thorough is sure to quiet down the community somewhat.

Turn my headphones up! Turn them -blam!-s up!

Terminal, Multi-Team Slayer BR
50-30-28-17
Score: 39 Spree: 16 Deaths: 8 Medals:17 (8 Doubles, 2 Triples, 1 Killtackular, 4 Sprees, 1 Riot, 1 Rampage) Accuracy: 46% Head Shots: 9
Moral of the story: Gauss Hog for President.

The autoaim in Halo 2 is cranked up so you can get head shots much more easily. Also there is no radar when you are scooped in H2.

well, in halo1, the first time i used the sniper it was easy, i was close rang, mid range, and long range shooting. i got a kill everytime i shot, even in multiplayer, me and all my friends where playing snipers, AND I DOMINATED, i got 50 kills b4 they got 10. but in halo2, u hardly get 2 use a sniper, and i think its harder in halo2, the siper is weaker, and u have 2 lead ur shots.

You don't "try to sniper." You "try to snipe."
