Bungie,
I used to be something near that of a crazed fanboy since Halo 3's release. I bought 2 Legendary Editions and a Limited Edition copy of Halo 3, along with a Halo 3 360 (although I already had one), lots of merchandise from bungiestore.com and even several posters.
But I've had it. There's just too much bs that you've allowed into Halo 3 matchmaking. Glad I retired before it got worse. Wtf is up with shotguns and oddball in SWAT? If that was Shiska's idea, then it was a mistake for you guys to let him be in charge of the playlists. And perhaps you've been too busy rolling in your piles of money to notice but players HATE oddball and king of the hill gametypes. I'm not saying all players, but the vast majority. Why must you continue to allow that garbage in matchmaking?
And before you conclude that I'm just some angry player that is writing this because he doesn't get his way, it's not true. I've put up with a lot since Halo 3's release, and have even stood up for it when everyone else gave up and switched to CoD4. The worst I had to put up with was probably the issue of little kids playing Halo. I know that part isn't your fault, but just know that I put up with them in order to play the game I thought would fulfill all my gaming needs. How wrong I was.
I used to think you guys listened to the community, but I'm wrong. You do listen to it. The problem lies with WHOM in the community you listen to and so far it's been the wrong crowd. Why don't you try listening to players such as I who play the game far too much and who know what flaws need a fix? Why not listen to those of us who don't ask for much but merely ask for simple tweaks to enhance gameplay? Don't say "Oh, but we put in an MLG playlist. That must count for something." The fact is that the MLG style of playing isn't for normal players. It's for pros who are considered "not human" because they're just ridiculously good. What about players who need change within the normal matchmaking playlists? I guess we won't see any wanted/needed changes just because we don't hold huge tournaments that are shown on ESPN. -.-
As for the few changes you did bring to matchmaking, such as the SWAT playlist, thanks but no thanks. It's a nice gesture but apparently the guy who you had modify the maps for matchmaking did a crap job. Have you played SWAT lately? And I don't mean within the office or for LAN parties. I mean have you played it ONLINE with everyone else? Spawn killing got so bad I stopped playing in the SWAT playlist almost as soon as I started. On Narrows for example, go to the enemy spawn side and just hang out in the back while looking to the left corner. You can be shooting and people will spawn anyways. Wtf is that all about?
While we're on the topic of spawn points, why do people always spawn on the beach of High Ground while someone from the opposite team is sniping or even just hanging out back there? If this isn't a problem with spawn points and it's actually built into the game itself, then you need to do something about this in AU2.
(sigh) Well, that's pretty much it for me. I doubt anyone of importance will read this post, and I doubt even more they would reply to it. I'm not looking to get recon or anything like that, especially seeing as how I'm retired and couldn't care less even if I did get it. All I want is to be heard as well as acknowledged. Bungie, if you're planning to dominate the world, you'd better re-think how you treat your community. You never know if someone who you neglected will instead dominate the world. If they keep a grudge, they could very well wipe you from existance (I don't mean this as a threat, lol). So yeah. I'm done. Done with bs that has tainted matchmaking, done with little kids that trashtalk, done with people who bash me for being a grade 3 colonel, and most of all, I'm done with you Bungie. So long and farewell.
Signed,
