Okay first off, the BR is stacked. Secondly, the AR is stacked. Bottom line. However, I said my little spew on the BR, so I will talk about the AR instead. Countless times I have seen people run in a straight line with the AR, holding down the RT, and then either killing the opponent or melee-ing them down with a tap of the B or LT button, your preference. This requires no skill whatsoever. However, I think the thing most of you serious people out there forget is that Halo is not really like COD.
Halo is great in that it provides for all players, even the annoying noobs. Theres not as much learning curve. Many people can pick it up and at least play it, if not get good at it. I agree with some that earning your way to the top using an AR seems a little sad, but its not so much different from being a master of the 3-4 hit in the head with the BR. The AR is fine to keep you alive, but I think its overused. Perhaps if players only started with their fists, and had to go get the weapon they wanted, things would level out a bit. Its usually safe to assume that most people will continue to use the weapon they start out with. It can also be said that this weapon will remain as a secondary once they've found their favorite weapon. People who enjoy the BR are better off going to get one, because having everyone start with one is downright stale and boring as *insert 4-letter word here. I know what the other guy will have, and the match proceeds into a "who's faster" match. Yawn.
Before you attack me, let me say the AR is already like that. Starting everyone out with this usually invites the same ending. "OMG there's a guy! 'holds down right trigger as they sprint at the enemy. enemy does same, two meet in usual melee fight. This is also very stale gameplay. These two weapons are some of the most, if not the most, used weapons in the game.
Should they be nerfed so people go use some of the numerous other weapons Bungie has crafted for us? Sure. Will that happen? No. The elimination or tweaking of either of these weapons is probably not on Bungie's to-do list, and if this happened, there would almost certainly be a cry of rage from the community. I just believe that both are solid weapons, but both are also very controlling of this game, and make the experience very stale, because most of the time, these are the two weapons being used, next to grenade-spamming. We'll save that for another time...
lol starting with fists
