Hello everyone!
I like a few people I have seen here have had a few problems with Halo CE
I've been able to downlaod it and install it but when I try to run it I get an error saying that DirectX 3d failed to initilize, hardware acellaration may be disabled and I should run Dxdiag.
The thing is it is enabled. I used to get the same error on regular halo untill I updated to 1.06
I've asked around other places but no one has given me a direct answer on how to fix this. I was hoping I'd have better luck here. So please help.

1. direct x version 9.0c
2. ATI Mobility Radion 9800
3. XP service pack 2 (I think)

Need anything else? (sorry if I'm being noobish)

no, you told me all i need. just let me check if your card's 256 mb
ok, you may need the stings.dll in this download
http://www.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=9&fid=419&start= 1
just put it in your halo custom edition folder.
HOWEVER, DO SOMETHING ELSE FIRST
go to start menue-----> run. type Dxdiag in the box and click 'yes' if a box shows up. click 'next page'
check if there are any problems (will be writen in the 'notes' section)
repeat until you reach the end.
tell us the results

I did not get any errors in the Dxdiag but now I get an error that says corrupted halo exe when I start the game
I see it says that this file is for regular Halo not CE anyway. also I have halo 1.06 not 1.04

ok there's a sticky thing that has a download called bink32.dll I think. You have to download it and save over the old bink32.dll.

Problem: that viedo driver is for a desktop computer and I have a laptop. So where can I find a new driver for a laptop
And I did get that bink32.dll file
Or is there any way I can trick it into believing that hardware acceleration is enabled?

What is the make or the cards. If it is nvidia go to www.nvidia.com and if it is ati go to www.ati.com. All the drivers are there

ATI says that if it is a mobility card (which is what I have) it has been customized by the manufacturer and I should go there. Mine is a Dell but i did not see any new drivers. Also I saw someone here say that the sent a CE fix to Gearbox but I could not find it there, anyone have that?
