I read this on a Halo forum that said they read it on xboxaddict. Somebody please tell me this is not true. This would ruin Halo multiplayer.

Im sure well know for sure by E3. If we don't then lets just assume the worst and write angry posts about it because that would be total BS.

Who's the developer again? Oh that's right Bungie....

You can quote me on this, there is NO WAY that they will limit live to one player per box. End quote.

  • 04.19.2004 8:49 PM PDT

but it would be awsome to have coopretive with like 16 people on lengendary

Yes i hope you can go split screen on live i hate handing it to my friends. On the first halo u could go 4 player split on system link so i dont see why u wont be able to do in on H2 on live.

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." Albert Einstein
"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." Gandhi

On live, multiple people per box could cause a problem with LAG.
They may have only one(or two) for live, but still do four for system link.

Besides, would you rather have multiple people per box, or more than 16 players per game?

Multiple people on one box doesn't really cause a problem with lag. Yes this would make more information one box has to download, but download is almost never the cause of lag in games. It's the upload and the upload gets an easier job like this. One more person on split screen means one less additional box the server has to upload information to, making life easier for it. This is why lag is always better on 4v4 games on Xbox connect when each 4 is on one box rather than having the player split between many boxes. In short, haveing many players on each box makes the lag better.

I do, it's XBL, and XBL doesn't support more than one guest on one Xbox, then there's Splinter Cell:PT where you can't even have a guest. In general there will be probably 32 player (live or sys link), there will be (if it was confirmed) online cooperative, with only two people (probably).

It doesn´t bother me if it is only one player per box.

To many of us it's a big deal ! With xbconnect and halo splitscreen, i've sold many friends on buying an Xbox. They still come over weekly for a good old 4v4 CTF game. So ... I'm begging Bungie for guests on Live cause I don't want to lose my friends (They use me for my big screen and 5.1 set-up ... but that's fine by me) !!!

Incorrect, I think another may have mentioned it but I guess you didn't see it. Ureal Championship supports 3 guests for 4 player split screen through XBL.

Aren't they also doing an update on the XBL software soon - maybe it'll make it easier support multiple players per box

I also posted about how many people would be able to play live on 1 box and was hoping to get an official answer on the subject, Unfortunately neither of us did. And although 2 players on 1 box would be cool, I know several XB Connect and Gamespy users that want and NEED 4 players on 1 box to be able to play on Live. Cause the most common game I've played is with my team of 4 playing CTF @ Blood Gulch against another team of 4....That's the best experience I've had on Halo and I'm sure many other people agree. So Bungie please be aware of this, Because you can have all the bmp mapping you want, But if there is not an option to play 4 players on 1 box on Live, Then all the hard work you are doing will be for nothing!

Twelve Large ²

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

Halo 2 should support one player per box. That way Microsoft can sell Xbox's to those cheap ass roomates who are too damn cheap to buy their own box! Just kidding, fellas.. Don't -blam!- with me.

i agree with the person i think 2 posts up... if u cant play more than 1 player per box u will destroy the halo community... part of the fun is invitin friends over just to play online... one main reason i was lookin forward to halo 2 was because of a multiplayer with way less lag ... but theres not gonna be much point or many happy ppl if u can only play 1 player per box... how can teams practice for tournaments and stuff (other than LAN) and get used to workin together... if no more than 1 player... halo 2 will be successful no matter wht... but it would be even more successful with an effective multiplayer...i got bored of the campaign eventually... im still not bored of multiplayer and dont think its possible to get bored of it (cept xbc pisses me off a bunch why i wanted halo on xboxlive)

Wait, are you saying there wont be Live play in Halo 2? Because Bungie has definitely said there will be, check Frankies updates. If not I'm just confused as to what you are saying.

unless the 4 player box has a bad upload speed
