I agree with P1acebo. It's just not Bungie's style. Nor Halo's style, for that matter. I do NOT want to see Halo 2 looking like Unreal Tournament in terms of physics. It looks to me like they are working on a relatively realistic physics engine. A realistic physics engine is a must-have in a game with destructible environments. Maybe they should use the Havoc physics engine. Nah...they wouldn't do that. Everything they do is completely original. I must commend them for that.

No, bungie shouldn't use the Havoc engine. It's great, but Bungie is great, so they will make a great one also.

Ragdoll would be fine and look very good if designers weren't lazy. They don't restrict joints and to follow the range of movement in a body according to the skeletal structure and ligaments and surrounding environment. Thus, you get bodies with their heads inside their chests, knees turned around backwards, arms dissappearing inside boulders... etc.

Now, with that little bit of effort... it would look nice.

If you want to explore a lvl, the njust plug ina 2nd controller and run around by yourself. That's what I did to start mapping strategies.

I don't think there will be a training mode, save something for single-player to become acquainted with the new concepts such as dual-wielding.

U DUMASS! halo 1 had ragdoll physics. When a body died on a cliff it would hang off the cliff, so halo 2 will also.

Yes the bodies did hang off cliffs but it looked stupid. example: Chief was hanging waist up off a cliff but his head and arms stayed floating there while his body practicaly dissconnented with the rest of him. And a grunt I saw was hanging on a cliff with nothing more than his toe! If it were ragdoll that grunt would have fell.

I always want to see the bodies smack agaisnt a wall. like if you get blow up by a gernade you going flying to the wall they show some kind of impact instead of then the body floating down the wall

I agree with Placebo, there shouldnt be the ragdoll physics that we've seen in previous games. First of all, I'd rather walk up to a dead grunt, smack him in the back, and hear the bones crunching and huge blood spatter everywhere than see him slide away at my punch.

Also, the body structures are so different with every alien that it'd take more work than you realize to utilize radgdoll physics well.

Other games that have ragdoll physics tend to get old with me. Deus Ex: Invisible War is a great game and the ragdoll physics are nice, but a friend of mine would spend hours on end flipping bodies onto one another in as precarious and s exually oriented positions as possible. May sound like fun to some of you, but I'd rather see my dead foe and walk right over him.

Granted the glitches like bodies hanging in middair by their toe are odd, and should be dealt with

That being said, I believe I've read on the forums and from Bungie (No I have no link, it was a while back, so you can take my word or not) that there are no ragdoll physics, but a larger variety of scripted deaths to deal with specific situations. I dont want them to change anything they're currently doing to the game, if for nothing else than to make sure it comes out when they've said.
