I stopped playing Halo 3 awhile ago now. The main reason is the 100 custom content items limit.

Secondly is that all the fun that was in the original Halo has managed to get erased, theres no silly physics where you could launch warthogs incredibly high etc. etc.

People whined about the pistol, so it was removed and now we have the battle rifle which is pretty much exactly the same.

In the end the game is too balanced, you may be thinking "What? your crazy balance is good and makes games fair!" well thats true. it does make the games fair, however fair is not always fun.

If you make the effort to go all the way to the enemies base and steal their warthog you should be rewarded by having another warthog, camping the enemies base should be easy. Unfortunately the Spartan Laser ruins this, in fact it ruins all vehicular combat in the game, remove it and Sandtrap becomes 80% better.

Secondly why are there no Scorpions (I do not have the legendary Map Pack, so Sidewinder does not count. Yes its Sidewinder theres no two ways about it, just like Coagulation is BloodGulch and will always be BloodGulch) in matchmaking. Instead we get the Wraiths which are no fun at all to play, its slow, does weak damage (compared to Scorpion) fires slower and even has a gigantic weak spot.

The sad truth is that Halo 3 is beyond repair for me. If you guys at Bungie could manage to take the Original Halo, change nothing at all about it. Don't use the stupid melee system Halo 3 has to account for people on slow connections (if you have crap internet deal with it, the rest of us shouldn't have to suffer) and add online multiplayer with a Custom Game finder built right in. PERFECTION

One small step for player satisfaction, a giant leap for Bungie world domination

Good game, good game, good game...

For me, it's the customization options. I love that I can create new gametypes and maps that range from the serious to the ridiculous. No other game offers that. Sure, there are other great game experiences out there, but they all inevitably start to get stale because of repetition. I've played COD4, R6V2 and GTA4, but inevitably it all sorta starts to feel like the same stuff over and over again. With Halo 3, there's always something fresh that extends the experience... and the fun. I can't tell you how many hours, after a month of inactivity, I logged after the discovery of Rocket Race.

Lately I've been diving into the Forge pretty seriously, and I even created a functioning volcano for King of the Hill matches. Custom games, online matchmaking, whatever I'm playing, it's definitely the best online experience going.

All this, combined with Bungie's ongoing dedication to their fans and supporters, just keeps me coming back for more. I love the special weekend playlists, the DLC, the stat tracking and even bungie.net site itself. It's just been a great experience... and really, it has been for about 10 years now.

Thanks guys.

I honestly have fallen out of the Halo groove and I have moved on to games like Call of Duty 4 and Army of Two. I think it is because of the more modern, realistic feel of those games. You don't have to empty full clips into somebody to kill them. It's like 3 shots and they die, no questions asked. It's more of better skills wins and not better weapon. I can't tell you how many times I've been mopped up by rockets. Friggin janitors!! I also hate how there is no point to vehicular combat anymore. There are too many weapons that can take them out. (Spartan Laser, Missle Pod, Rocket, Brute Shot) tone them down a bit. Just the homing rocket was good enough. Bring Blood Gultch into Halo 3 (Valhalla is not the same...). How about some Boarding Action from Halo? Hmm? What about Team Sniping? Where the hell did it go? You can't take out one of the most played playlists of Halo 2. That isn't dominating the world at all. I hate to say it, but I think Call of Duty 4 is owning right now. If you haven't played it, you should atleast check it out. I don't want to here anybody say that CoD4 istn't as good as Halo when they haven't even played it. Like all FPS's, it takes a little bit of time to get the hang of everything, but after a while you'll see that I'm right. So much for world domination, Bungie.

I find what keeps me playing is first off Bungie themselves. They actually interact with us and put forth so much of an effort to get involved with the community.

The second thing is the game itself. While there are many complaints about certain aspects, the game is still great, and I love it. Thanks Bungie! :D

I play (well, will play again once my net at home is set up, stupid moving across the country) because Halo is simple. I grew up on the quake engine, and while holding 9 weapons simeltaneously is entertaining, tactics comes into its own with two weapons and grenades. It's the simplicity of the Halo interface that gives me the greatest enjoyment, and so much to aim for, after the privelidge of being owned by some truly talented and sporting players out there.

More importantly, I've fallen in love with the Halo universe over the years. And while I could go find another multiplayer shooter, I'd rather be at home with a world I truly engage in. Bungie, if nothing else (but let's face it, there is plenty else) provides a world that I can get in to.

  • 05.29.2008 3:53 PM PDT

no other games are competitive enough for me

Some people never see the light till It shines though bullet holes.

Vote for the most underated weapon

group to talk about halo reach with no spam

I play Halo 3 for a lot of reasons.

One there is no such thing as a boring game in Halo 3. The gameplay is always different and it doesnt even have to be a different gametype.

Second when you can find decent people over Live it becomes a suberp game because with your friends the game just becomes ten times better.

Third Halo is different than EVERY other fps out there. You can do so many different things with halo like swat, mlg, objective, ect. The game has different mini games for whatever you feel like playing. Im not even talking about forge and the other features which make halo even better.

This game is set up for any skill level and the replayability factor on it is amazing.

Now some things I would like in Halo 3 to be added:

Could we get a human version of BTB on sandtrap. Also if there is any way to fix the hitbox for the sniper rifle that would really be great.

My only big thing in Halo 3 is the fact of how hard it is to stick people in the game I wish the plasma grenade could become more sticky if that makes sense because some times I see it disapear through the person and then blow up behind him.

Sorry my list of wants is big. If you could make a gametype where you start with an AR and then have a secondary weapon like an SMg that way you have a weapon that you could DW it might be bad but what he hec.

Also how come you cant put the beam rifle as a secondary weapon or primary in customs same with the carbine and fuel rod. I dont know if this is possible but could you make team sniipers with one human sniper and one beam rifle and get rid of the pistol.

The thing I like most about Halo 3 is that Bungie actually gives us feedback and listens to the community. Thanks for the great game.

Campiagn Kill Count :31,745. And growing.

The Revisionaries- One of the greatest screenshot groups on B.net. With 250 members and growing.

I like it cause it's really the best game out so far. But I really wish little things like lag and hit detection could be fixed. That's the only real big problem, from what I can see. It's a great game, with a great campiagn, (although it could've been longer, and included more gameplay with Elites on your side,) and it has Forge, and a theater mode, both things I love about the game. And the screenshots. I love taking cool screenshots. It's so much fun.

I also like the whole idea of the recon armor. No other game has done that yet. If you do good in the community, make cool stuff, and are just an all around good person, you are rewarded for it. Most game companies couldn't care less. And then you get bragging rights. It has made the community more motivated to do cool things, and made the B.Net a much more interactive, cool place.

What! Are you saying there are other games? you mean other than Halo3? on xbox 360? :)

  • 05.29.2008 4:05 PM PDT

So...

you can leave now.

The double xp weekends, keep them comeing bungie. I think that puting a new playlist up almost every weekend is brilliant way to keep people comeing back.

Bungie's great interaction with gamers, although not fully appreciated all the time, is by far the best effort put forth by any game studio out there.

They have great interaction with gamers because the don't really have a choice. So many people play it that they have to be updated about the flaws. I'm sure if Halo wasn't such a big hit, they wouldn't be interacting as much, but it is a big hit! Every game studio would have to interact if they had a game as famous as Halo. There's no arguement about it.

What keeps me coming back to both the campaign and the mulitplayer is the simple fact that even after 6 months of playing the game its still a whole lot of fun. The AI's, the playlists, the DLC, everything seems geared towards maintaining the games variablity which represses the malevolent monster of monotany (which other games, which will remain nameless, seem to cultivate) and ensures that every time I log onto the game I am met with a new experience which has the potential to be even better than anything I have yet experienced in any game.

Forge, Guns, parties, custom games, awesome oline experience, better than COD4, and most of all, awesome creators (not to mention funny creators). No FPS could be betta' than this.
PS: And there is Grunts

I always thought Halo had so much potential. The story is great and the game is fun, and I've always held on to the potential it has for even more greatness.

  • 05.29.2008 5:17 PM PDT

My ex-boyfriend got me into halo in 2004. I may not have been playing as long as some others on here, but I enjoy it just the same.
I never really got to play much of halo 2 though. By the time we got an xbox at our place, I didn't have the money to buy it and all the rental games were so scratched they wouldn't even work. I will say though, that I did not enjoy halo 2 very much from what I played. I never played live, but multiplayer just wasn't fun like in CE.
Then came Halo 3. I love it. My boyfriend gets annoyed with me because I sometimes talk about it too much.
I don't play many other games on 360.. All I Play is Halo, Guitar Hero, and Viva Pinata (yes, it's childish, but it's easy and fun)

I think Halo 3 has been the best, most fun game I've ever played.

You've got to think crazy, of course, because you only get innovation by refining insanity. - Jason Jones

I don't come back as often as I used to. When I do come back it is because of nostalgia. And because one of these days when I log onto my account I expect to see a message from Luke offering a dinner.

Shadowrun & Halo 3

I really enjoy all of the Halo games, and until recently I had been playing a lot of Halo 3, now this has slowed down tremendously, I will still play on occasions but DLC is what keeps me coming back and then I play them for the first week or two then take a break I really wish there was DLC that wasn't just maps but still I like the DLC except the Heroic map pack without foundry
