this seems like a topic that wold have been mentioned before im just to lazy to look for it. before hand i would just like to say that i am old enough to purchase M rated games i am just asking this out of curiosity. i would just like to know how Halo got an M rating and if it is likley that halo 2 will be rated M as well.

i have played through halo at least 10 to 15 times and to this day cannot find any content worthy of an M rating so please any expaination would be appreciated.

thanks

i know this probably belongs in the library but no one responded when i did it there and i think it is a topic worthy of discussion.

ESRB is all crazy about blood. If it has blood, it's probably mature. Or if they say a bad word in it. I don't know what all the craziness about blood is about, but it's the reason for "mature" games.

Have you not heard the language or seen the gore (all the blood) in Halo? Those are the reasons its rated M

i found that there is "language" after you hit some marines not to mention Sci-fi "violence". the critics who rate games are a$$es to say teh least but depending on how bungie takes on the "violence" and "language" it'll get an M rating but in the good way.

P.S. my spelling is poor but its 2 a.m where i am so...ya

yes, but they have to get permision to swear on network. that's why sometimes some stuff is bleeped, and other times the same stuff is not.

Well, there is the matter of the massive amounts of violence in the game . . .
And the blood everywhere when you wind up tricking large numbers of covenant into a killzone . . .
And the abillity to smash a dead elite with your rifle until there's blood everywhere . . .

Personally, I don't think it's that bad, and it might have wound up as Teen if it hadn't been for the human blood in the game, too. But the guys at ESRB have the well-being of the world's youth to consider, so they have to be extremely careful in their decisions. They're funny sometimes, though.

Like back in the days of the N64, when I spent tons of time playing Jet Force Gemini. That game included lots of blood, except that the red blood came from teddy bears and you were killing ants instead of aliens or people. Those ants actually blew up into separate pieces, and you were rewarded with cheats for collecting the heads! I know, I know, it was hugely cartoony, but still.

Sorry about going off there, but the ratings have to be a little bit considerate towards the younger players. Not that the ratings ever discouraged me. My parents, maybe . . .

(by the way, I'm 16)

I wish you could make the MC roast and eat a covie soldier to survive. That would be really cool-

cut to video- - - MC is stranded on an Island waiting for evac - - - he has killed off all remaining covie troops on the island - - - he's been there for 1 week - - - he has only to choose between seared grunt, BBQ'ed Elite, fried Jackal, and Hunter Burgers - - - he settles on Hunter burgers - - - end video.

Now, that would crank up the rating...

oooh, good idea...entrails too...

When you snipe an Elite in the head, his head should explode and his brains fly out his new air hole.

nice.

the back of the cover doesnt even say anything about launguage. blood and gore. violence. its why its rated M.alota games have blood and gore. violence. and are rated M. Rainbow Six 3..Ghost Recon...yeaaah..
anyways i could care less about the rating as long as its not Adults only...its not like my mom cares what games im playing, i mean i show her that i snipe peoples heads off and blood squirts out of there neck, and she just goes "ok."

Has anyone read the flood??? If you haven't you should. ***--==SPOILERS==--*** When Sniper Jones takes out that blue elite ( he could've taken a gold field master but didn't ) it desribes how the bullet went through the base of his neck, blew his helmet off and showered the area in a fountain of blood and brains. The gold elite jumped out of the way of the second bullet. ( hope there aren't elites that can dodge sniper bullets in H2 ) It's a bit too late for Mithrandir, every shot misses on his behalf.

NO, No no that would ruin halo. Limbs hanging off other limbs doesn't sound halo-ish.If we have to put loose body parts in the game then we are getting desperate, and if bungie are getting desperate then halo 2 is already ruined.

What does it all matter, either which way it goes, we are all gona play Halo 2 anyway. If it has an M rating then get your big brother or sister to buy it. Dont got a big brother or sister? Parents so sick of you they cant stand another child? Some banks sell gift/debit cards. If you got sixty bucks then put it on one of those and buy it from amazon.com. If it has an M rating, then its gonna be violent, and that is what makes any video game worth playing.
