How would this work, lest it were only with a single flag? I mean, maps like Burial Grounds appear to have two opposing bases, and really couldn't accomodate another two. I admit I don't have much experience with PC shooters, have any other games tackled this issue, and how so?

There could be a variety of ways for it to work, and I believe Bungie will allow you to utilize any number of them you want, from what we've seen. But the easiest would be the one flag game with 3 attacking teams.

You could still have 4 flag CTF with 2 bases and just have 2 defendable spawn points for the other two teams, like the beach of Zanzibar. The possibilities are limitless really, I mean you could even have a game with 4 teams and 2 flags where the teams group with one another (essentially making 2 teams) but the individual goal is to get anyone's flag to your base, so you could betray the team your helping and take their flag.

Wow, reading that now it doesnt make much sense, but I havent slept. Ah well, the possibilities for gameplay are awesome

Yeah, does sound a bit ridiculous. You're getting a bit euphoric from the lack of sleep, I'd say.

I think the use of 4 teams is limited to the map, so you dont get wacky games as you proposed, and i think it will be primarily TDM, though CTF doesnt seem impossible if everyone has a flag.

unless i'm very mistaken all games i've read about with 4 teams have been team slayer, king of the hill, oddball etc.
everytime a CTF game is mentioned, the reviewing team from whatever mag will play a 2 team game. coincidence? i think not.
think about it on LIVE, it would be so easy for teams to make alliences and effectively double their numbers, picking on the others and getting quick wins. as the flag is the only goal it would be too easy. as bungie is all about balance its only fair to have 2 team CTF.
i may be wrong but all evidence i've seen so far supports my conclusion

I do believe Waterworks was classified as a Medium size map.

Given that stunningly huge map is "Medium" sized perhaps the "Large" maps will be the ones that possess four fortified locations for protecting flags.

4 teams with one defending and 3 attacking is not logical. That's almost a hands down defeat.

Honestly, I do not want 4 team CTF, its retarded. Keep it one on one, and make every CTF game like zanzibar with Attack and Defend, round switch this is the most brilliant change to CTF since its creation in games.

one team vs three maybe unfair but not extremely difficult if the defenders where inside an easily defendable base with better weapons inside the base than any others. If you get good enough at the game and have good teammates you could probably beat the other teams when they're against you neway. on H2 PC a guy called starscream and i could have taken on all the other guys.

They can just have specific maps with that are bigger and have four diffrent bases like blood gultch with 2 more bases, that would work fine

My favorite game of all-time is Perfect Dark. It has everything that Halo is missing, including 4 team CTF, although referred to as Capture the Case in Perfect Dark. It also had bots, and a ranking system, as well as a cool feature on King of the Hill where the team would get more points depending on how many people were in the hill. Although, things that PD missed on, Halo capitalized on, such as vehichles and being able to play with 15 other people on multiplayer.

However, looking back, I agree with Zam about the alliance thing. My roommate and I would do it all the time. What ever happened to Perfect Dark Zero?

Oh well, I would like to see this feature included, because you can always go back to the regular set-up. The more options in multiplayer the better. But just think how cool 4 team CTF would be if there were no alliances and stuff? Could be really cool, could blow. Guess we will never know.
