Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying, and Love the Bomb.

Pwned.

  • 02.13.2005 10:50 PM PDT

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

You people are sad.

Wow, I can't believe the lack of taste displayed in this thread. I am unable to choose one film, but I'd say these were in the running:
Fight Club
Leon
Magnolia
Jacob's Ladder
Battle Royale
Dead Man's Shoes
Citizen Kane
Apocalypse Now

  • 02.14.2005 3:41 AM PDT

Hard to choose:
Shawshank Redemption
The Green Mile
Braveheart
The Godfather, Part 1 (and part 2, but definitely not part 3)
Momento
The Count of Monte Cristo
Gladiator

I saw this wierd one where Sylvester Stalon goes to the future and is a cop, and the only restaraunt is Taco Bell because they won the franchise wars.

Demolition man. And boy did that movie suck :)

  • 02.14.2005 4:07 AM PDT

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.
Phrogs eye view

Amazing for different reasons:

Seven
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
Alien
Amelie
A Clockwork Orange

animated: Transformers the movie

"indie": Mallrats
comic adaptation: X-2 (although the upcoming Sin City movie looks bad-ass)
suspense/mystery: Se7en (Usual Suspects in close 2nd)
comedy: Napoleon Dynamite

just to name a few.

"The Holy Grail is in the castle of... aaargh"

Damnit now I have to watch it again.

It was called Demolition Man and he didn't go to the future, he was cryogenically frozen as a form of incarciration.

Leon isn't action at all. It's a drama if anything. Only the beginning and end have action in them. I just bought the special edition DVD the other day.
