I was reading a faq info and I noticed one of the many improvements improved AI and i want to know what the hell might they be

the computer is smarter like the covenent have better stradegy. like jackels will line up in a straight line with thier shields in front.

remember how the soldiers Suck in Halo Combat Evolved? thats what they are talkin about because they dont just sit and shoot in wide open space, they will probley hide behind things and they will be like actuall soldiers and use commun since.

Well... For example, the developers did a test where they set up a warehouse filled with stacks and piles of those purple cargo boxes the Covenant use. They stuck the Chief one one end and a collection of the Covenant on the other. Then they turned on the AI.

The Grunts zipped forwards, circling around the stacks. The elites bounded back and forth like Panthers, clinging to the sides of the stacks and over climbing over their tops. The Hunters just pressed through, mauling their way forwards. They didnt' take the time to go around or over the stacks, they went THROUGH, scattering the cargo boxes like they were pieces of lego.

The designers promptly wetted themselves.

yes the improved computer A.I in halo 2 will be in a league of its own. the enemies and marines are now exceptionally clever.

Usually AI is reffered to as a objective structure.

Objective one, guard location 1
Objective 2, eliminate enemy
Objective 3 patrol location one and 2.

Such and such. Problem with a game like Halo is you start getting grunts that act like jackals that act like elites that act like hunters.

Halo was the first to mak individual AI for each race, this allowed each race to have a difinitive personality. Run up to a grunt, they run away. Run up to a hunter...I think you know who'll have to run away.

Exactly. Also say you and a friend are playing and you try to flank them. They will split up and half will go after one of you and half after the other.

More importantly, the marines know what's going on about them and move to aid one another. They understand the concepts of suppression fire and actively take cover. If no cover is available, they'll make their own by flipping over tables.

Self preservation my lads! You won't have to spend all your time drawing enemy fire to keep them alive!

there is news that when there is an enemy sniper pinning you down that marines can point them out or call in warthogs manned with fellow troops to help you

Well,in short terms..what they've done to the new and improved marine and covenant ai's is very simple..is like teaching ur dog how to talk..go to the bathroom,walk,and such..the difference is..bungie does it faster..

improved AI means improved AI! simple. but the cool thing i noticed in the FAQ is the covies will flip over tables as cover (so will marines) and the covies will like bash down doors and follow u if u try to run. sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.
