while i know new mombasa will be in the campaign, i think bungie will be changing the level a great deal from what we saw in e3 2003. as it was shown, it has too many scripted events, such as the warthog run, and the brutes on the hood of the hog [although i think they could and should keep that.] besides, i feel like the graphics engine has been updated so many times since that build, that we may never end up playing anything remotely close to that e3 demo. on another note, do you think it will be the first level in the campaign? i say no. most likely that covie crusier mc is flying towards in the trailer. i hope there is a hull breach for low grav action too.

Theres a video interview with Peter Parsons from E3 in which he states Halo 2 will begin where Halo left off. NOT where First Strike ends as most people thought. Therefore, its safe to assume there should be a couple levels at least pulled from FS. Ruins of Halo, Reach, and the Unyielding Hierophant to speculate a few.

Who said New Mombasa was going to be a level at all? I haven't seen that made official anywhere. As for calling the E3 2003 demo a level at all would be a very bad assumption. First of all, look at how short the "level" is. Now, look at all the incidents where the player takes a specific turn to rally a cut scene (i.e. the cut scene at the end) wherein he didn't have a nav point or any such marker to show him the way. The whole "level" was fully scripted to make us all drool until the 2004 demo, where we drooled a little more. I've already prepared myself to face a game fully and entirely different from what I am expecting.

the E3 demo ur thinking of isnt new mombasa. new mombasa was the multiplayer map on the beach. different place, but i agree. they wont have the E3 demo for us to play because its scripted so it would show off all the cool new stuff.

The E3 demo from 2003 whas New Mombosa and not Zanzibar, Zanzibar is a Multiplayer level shown at E3 2004.

Sorry for the wait. You can find the interview here. The interview is at the bottom of the page in the videos section. Skip ahead to the 10:35 mark and it will lead into the question in which Peter responds how Halo 2 will begin (where Halo left off with FS filling in some of the gaps).

E3 from what we've all seen, was too much of a short mission,i think they cut the mission more than in half, short misisons isn;'t what made the first halo GAME OF THE YEAR.it had 10 missions, but VERY LONG ONES,although New Mombasa looks like outsanding fun.

You need to think more broadly. first off, we didn't see the whole level. Remember where it left off? There could very well be much much more after that kick ass trailer at the end. another thing, you were talking about not seeeing any nav points on where to go... but there wasn't even an HUD so how the hell r we supposed to know that there won't be nav points to guide us there? There could very well be nav points that cortana is layin down for us to get us to where we need to go. Personally, i think the goal of taht level will b to board or commandeer a covie ship and possibly go to the Cov homeworld, because if you look at the FAQ's, the story is said as being: covies invade earth, MC takes the fight to the covenant (aka goes to the source)
