I think they should have the ability to run. I mean you can run on call of duty 4, but not Halo 3... WTF? And Maybe get rid of the Stupid Laser... -blam!- Much?

Two main things I've thought for awhile now:

A 3v3 playlist. You've got free for all and 1v1, 2v2, several 4v4, 5v5 (skirmish), 6v6 (DLC objective) and 8v8. Big team is more than good enough for 7v7, but 3 is a pretty common team number with no playlist. I would suggest making it a nice mix of objective and slayer games.

And this one I've thought since Halo 2, and bear with me on this, ONE OVERALL SKILL LEVEL. Yes, I know that different playlists require different skills, but nobody who's actually just a level 15 in should have to play against a brigadier in objective just because that guy never plays it. He's going to get stomped, it hurts the experience. This would deal a blow to boosting because people wouldn't have multiple playlists to annoy people on for very long.

To be fair, I think perhaps there should be a ranking for "Ranked" playlists, and another for the "Hardcore" playlist. Keeps people having something to aim for respectively. But if the primary goal of the ranking system is to give people evenly matched games, one flat ranking would do a much better job than the current system.

I know every one is going to agree on this one but...the melee system
I suggest that If two players have the same health and are within one melee of dying, if they melee eachother at the same time, they should just be momentarily stunned instead of killing eachother,

Head to Head:
-NEED RADAR! Without it you feel blind and vulnerable, especially with that cursed arrow giving off your EXACT position. (Not to mention it's a huge part of halo; without it most of my tactics go out the door.)
-The arrow needs to be above both players; otherwise the player who's behind has a MASSIVE advantage, keeping the score tied or very close for the entire match (and leading to annoying sneak tactics).

Tactical Gametypes:
--The biggest problem is the respawn time; Long respawns suck and do very little to change the outcome of the game; all they do is punish the player more heavily for slight mistakes (or random chance) and force them to sit there for 7 seconds while someone's running away with their flag. It's unbelievably bad for the player's stress level, and the deserted playlists reflect it.
--Add in some gametypes where the flag carrier can drive; it's rare that a team is coordinated enough to actually get a vehicle over in time, so flag carriers are usually stuck to running in "slow motion", forced to run in a straight line with no available options if someone sees them and starts shooting. Not to mention one of my favorite things in halo CE and PC was mad dashes to and from the base on hogs; It was a completely different game, and for that reason CTF is actually still MORE popular then slayer in Halo PC! I believe the same thing could reoccur in Halo 3 if this change is corrected.

Rocket Race:
--Driving in Rocket Race is fun, but being a gunner has no upsides; It's hard to aim, rare to get opportunities, and even rarer to actually make a difference in the outcome (not to mention when they actually do it appears to be a completely random, unpredictable and unstoppable irritant to the drivers). Most of the time the gunners quit or get turned off the playlist, and even those who stick around are soon bored by the same concept over and over.
This playlist should become a racing playlist that merely includes rocket race; There's certainly no lack of user friendly forged tracks on nearly every map, and it would be such a nice change from the usual shoot-em-up-beat-em-downs (and rocket race, yes).

Playlists:
--There need to be some playlists that focus on infection, race, KOTH, and all the other custom game favorites that have been strangely absent. You wonder why people are leaving halo for COD4 and GOW? It's because those games chose one form of action and perfected it, where as halo's biggest strength is it's flexibility and variety. If someone (READ: most casual players) judged you by your playlists, they'd see a COD wanna be.

Weekend Playlists:
--Great idea actually, my only suggestion is that it should be extended from weekends to all week long because my (READ: a lot of people's) weekends are already pretty frigging packed; meanwhile I'm bored as *blam* on a wensday night and there's nothing new to play!

Custom games:
-Something like a second friends list that showed random custom games would be nice, or maybe a playlist that immediately shoved you into one. If that's impossible, at least give us a permanent playlist with all the crazy forge maps you're being sent daily!

Why should you? I think I speak for most people when I say I'm very sick and tired of being restricted to about two custom games a month because there's never anything fun going on in my friends list. I like being able to pick up a video game and just do something fun, but instead I only get REAL fun on rare occasions and have to warp my daily schedule to make sure it lasts.

Please don't get the idea that I don't appreciate what you guys do; 5 years ago I discovered halo 1, and right then I decided on a career path. Ever since then I've been keeping my grades high and trying to discover what goes into these masterpieces through hard work and determination.
But with your last two games it seems as though you have spent too much time on gimmicks and not enough on quality, on actual substance. When you think about it, that's really what matchmaking and forge are; ways to attract people, things that sound impressive and add to the new aspects to the video game at the expense of perfected gameplay. Halo one was a complete blast, but compared to a more mature market halo 3 isn't. It's time you actually used some of that impressive sounding fluff and bring back some of the fanbase you alienated.

Hmmm... what i want bungie to improve halo3...

I haven't really though about this, but I'll give a whack at this.

Well... team balancing / mixed party restrictions, this is not as bad of a problem as it was when Halo 3 just launched, but still there is more work to be done. There is nothing more agonizing when the hopper dealt you out a bad hand. Like you are on a team with a private and two lieutenants, while the other team might as well be the four horsemen of the apocalypse! I can stand loosing but I can't stand being totally obliterated and then get trashed talked and/or tea baged from a BS matchmake. All i want is a fighting chance in most if not all of my games.

The crappy respawns no doubt! They are predictable, and with cooperation from team mates mates, easily manipulated. This is more apparent in Sniper/SWAT slayer game types. Case in point, while ago when the SWAT hopper was a couple days old, I not only had the absolute horror of playing against a general and two brigadiers. They manipulated the spawns on the map Narrows(by standing at certain spots). It left me and my team to get constantly spawn killed. Heck symmetrical maps like Narrows, Standoff, avalanche, and The Pit have this tendency have a team to respawn on the same side of the map where they started from on free for all game types. despite where other team mates / enemies were located on the time. From this you can easily have situations like the one I experienced.

Some of the spawns them selves are located in pretty precarious places. Like in the open (half of the respawns on last resort), line of sight of common sniper perches (like the side areas on Narrows), even areas of the map where fire fights are common (half of the spawns on the pit), and generally areas of the maps that should be avoided. (The center areas on maps like Guardian, and black out.) The lower parts of the map where the high ground is an advantage (like Isolation, The Pit, and epitaph)

Finally how the computer figures WHERE to respawn. (the weighing needs to be tweaked) Again this is more apparent in SWAT/Sniper slayer games. I have instances where the other team spawns right behind me on the beach on high ground, on the BR tower on Black out while I'm ON the BR tower, right next to my teammate while he is in a fire fight.

Also i would also like to have the other team stay silent in the post game lobby in ranked multiplayer. Think about allowing the other team to talk in post game, after a heated match where losing is no option, with one team losing. Add that to Internet Anonymity that turns even the most seemingly kind hearted, well behaved, ironically good sported person in real life, into the most fouled mouth, uncaring, prick that ever walked the earth the second he logs in to a session of multilayer. Do you ever think mixing those two together is ever a good idea? Seriously, no body wants to hear that kind of crap after a game!

Simply testosterone + hyper competitiveness + One team losing + Anonymity = Trash Talk that'll make your grandmother die of a heart attack then disgracing her self by releasing her bowels after buying the farm.

Able to pause while recording saved films[b] I personally would like this, being able to pause action while recording. Great for emphasis on one certain moment, plus two words BULLET TIME!!!. Also being able to put two clips together would be awesome. You know stop recording, then later continue recording at a later moment. Then after being able to rearrange them in any order you want then shown as a single clip. (good for following motion and a chain of events when it is too difficult to do so)

[b]easier achievements!
Seriously Bungie! how many of us can really pull off a legit "Two for One" with the laser on lone wolves and locational "legendary brawl" (even it's hard then, when every one who isn't on it wont give you a break and keeps killing you.) Really! it's about as rare as a twofer with a sniper on any game type on ranked and social, even a long distance sticky is more likely.

That's pretty much it for me i guess.

A new ranking system would be great, maybe change the existing one and make it so its harder to rank down once youve ranked up a level.

And clan support.
A simple little menu that would be used for clan battling, joining a clan, setting up a clan, managing a clan, clan updates and info, maybe even tournaments and competitions.

I know this is almost impossible, but get rid of the lag, my internet sucks and so I get a lot of problems with that, like the broken shotgun some people complain about, oh and don't have theater so that the party leader must be the guy with the best connection.

a huge map that makes use of vehicles and object not seen in multiplayer before. IE:Shade Turrets, Pelicans/Phantoms, AA Wraiths, Feul Rod Cannon (though its a placable weapon its not in matchmaking), Guass Hogs in Matchmaking (pls X 6 billion), also please make civilian hogs placable objects theyd work really good for machinima and theyd be a good addition for that area of the halo community,

if possible more armor premutations (not recon), bigger sandbox map, alternate textures for said map, oh Master Chief green as a selectible color for armor theres a few colors that are close but not exactly the same. uh thats about all i can think of right now, 7hanks for readin, and if you didnt read this guy whose job it is to do so i would like to inform you of my now burning hatred of you, 7hanks again.

EDIT: The BR is fine, ranking could be bettr

-Toggle shield doors
-Increase the splash damage on rockets
-Option to remove ALL explosives (including the ones on the walls)
-Carbine starting weapon?
-Fix the customs powerup, so an OS works like the real OS (invincible for 3 seconds, no matter how low your shields are when you pick it up)
-Give us the option to lower/raise autoaim when making gametypes.
-Make touch return TOUCH RETURN in capture the flags games. its broke, and it does

-More sensitivities
-Shots fired/Shots hit (Post Game Carnage Report)
-Plasma grenade glitch: If you spawn on top of a Plasma grenade the game automatically selects the Plasma grenade instead of the Frag grenade.
-Invite all: Anyone else miss the "invite all online friends" option from Halo 2?
-Make autoaim work at longer distances, so its easier to get long range shots to register.
-Red reticle to show if shots are hitting.
-Add a bunch of symmetrical maps.

a couple of ideas.

I think it would be good to have a sort of social doubles playlist but only 2 of you per match instead of being able to have a full game with 4 remotes by yourself, this is to prevent boosting.

Stop all lag during games, people with really bad lag causing others to lag automatically booted. ( auto-detected )

Maybe some new armour and diffrent emblems.

A new map-pack, Im not sure if your working on one now as there is alot of talk about it though?

- Get rid of Ranked Big Team and just combine it with Ranked Team Objective/Slayer so that both of those can allow parties of 4-8 players.
- I like the multi-map and multi-game vetoing suggestion suggested by others
- More vehicle variety in game types
- More vehicle variety in Forge maps, like the Troop Transport Hog and the Wheel-shaped Turret in campaign (not sure if new ones are possible)
- A new map pack with original maps completely, including a new slate map (i.e. Foundry)
- an "Undo" feature in Forge
- wouldn't mind normal and variants of Infection, Grifball, Rocket Race, Oddball, King of the Hill, FFA and Juggernaut gametypes in the Team Playlists, Ranked and Social, just don't make it as frequent as Objectives and Slayers - maybe like 1-5% of the time.
- more incorporation of Forged maps for more game map variety
- increase damage of Trip Mine and splatters (I've seen too many people survive these even when directly hit), as well as vehicles stuck by grenades
- a revised ranking system, as well as protection from deleveling for that game's MVP
- spawn protection, to prevent spawn campers and accidental team betrayals (spawning in front of own team's sniper, anyone?)
- Give the Hornet back it's missiles, just remove the lock-on ability. And maybe the bullets don't have to be so weak either?
- More chances at the Recon Armor permutation, like maybe a monthly contest for best Forge map or videos
- More Slayer game permutations, like only grenades, all needlers, super-speed, all Ghosts, all Scorpions and etc. besides just Dual Weapons, Rockets, Shotty-Snipers or Snipers
- Would love the ability to add a death-trap for Foundry, like the cannons on Snowbound or the mortars on Sandtrap - many times I wanted to add a death zone for maps and couldn't do it, aside from the falling fusion cores and etc.

I think they should fix the problem of how long it takes to become the next juggernaut once you've killed the last one. It takes a couple of seconds to actually be the juggernaut. I have a clip (might not still have it) of me killing the juggernaut. I then wait for like three seconds to be able to kill the person in front of me and once I can, I stick him. but before he exploded I got killed. Since I got killed, I wasn't the juggernaut anymore. Since I wasn't the juggernaut, the guy I had stuck while being the juggernaut was now on my team. Since he was now on my team, I got a betrayal. ={
