Some of you might remember my thread I posted ages ago on the Bungie forums that had about 50 pages worth of replies, a 90% agreement in the poll for a new patch and I wrote about 5 pages worth of things that should be patched in Halo 2 for a 1.2 patch. Well, Bungie the great developer they are completely ignored it and never gave it an official response despite the fact it was one of the largest threads on their forums at the time, instead they decided to answer the same lame questions in their Bungie weekly updates every week such as "Where is the Golden Warthog?"
Well hopefully Bungie will actually listen to us this time. Here goes.
Ability to stack powerups: Currently you are unable to stack powerups which is just an absurd gameplay flaw, why Bungie thought this was a smart idea is beyond me, but it should be fixed. If you pick up an OS then a camo, you appear camo but you're flashing like a giant light bulb, however, since you're invisible, other players can't auto aim on you. If you pick up a camo then an OS your camo power up stops working and others can auto aim on you. If you manage to pickup both powerups, don't you DESERVE both the powerups?
Option to disable tips: Ok, in Slayer we have to kill the enemy and in CTF we have to capture the flag. That's great, but do we need to be reminded how to play the game every time we load the map? The tips aren't little bits of text in the corner of the screen, they appear in a giant blue box that takes up half the screen. More annoying is the tips that remind me how to dual wield. I understand Bungie wanted to aim this game at everyone, ranging from grandmothers to your pet dog, but can those of us who know how to play please have the option of disabling this useless feature?
Weapon pallet in Forge: Can Bungie let US decide what weapons we want on our maps? There's some maps I'd like to put Carbines on, but Bungie won't let me. Why? I can understand Bungie had to limit the amount of objects on maps for various reasons, but I'm pretty sure letting me put a Carbine on a few maps won't make my 360 overheat and explode.
Touch return: For some reason touch return isn't TOUCH return. Why? Who knows, but it's lame and it needs to be fixed. CTF is currently broken and I'd go as far as to say UNPLAYABLE. I'm not sure about you guys, but I think being able to return the flag by running above it when the flag is UNDERGROUND is an insanely ridiculous gameplay flaw and the fact that this managed to get by Bungie's game testers really makes me worry about the future of this planet and its inhabitants.
Powerups: Bungie thought it would be more appealing to the kids if they changed the powerups from little objects on the ground into enormous glowing energy balls that take up half the map. Ok, whatever, I can live with that. But WHY did they make it so you can't shoot through them? Currently I have Forged Narrows and positioned a Camo powerup on the middle bridge on the lower level. Cool huh? It's in a nice spot in between both bases. But there's a bit of a problem when your trying to shoot at someone on the opposite side of the bridge with a massive glowing ball in front of you, besides hindering your aiming ability, you can't even shoot the person and grenades will bounce off it.
Hitboxes: The autoaim/hit boxes in Halo 3 still leave a lot to be desired. Bungie should either lower the autoaim/make hit boxes smaller or give us the option to lower autoaim when making gametypes. Maybe let us put it on 75/50%
Flag throwing: The flag throwing is one of the things that set Halo apart from other games. Remember watching the old videos of TDT on BC capturing a flag in 7 seconds because of their awesome flag setup where they'd throw the flag up to the top of the base, run it through the teleporter and throw it up on top of their base? Well Bungie obviously thought that gave good players too much advantage over bad kids so they removed it. Perhaps give us the option to reduce the flag weight or something.
Red reticle distance: Bungie, fix the BR and Carbine so we don't have to zoom in every shot just to make sure the shots connect. It doesn't matter if you're aiming at someone's temple, if your reticle isn't red there's a high chance most shots won't hit. The Pistol in Halo 1 would hit players fine from the other side of Hang Em High, now in Halo 3 half the bullets won't connect from one side of Guardian to the other. Halo 2 also had this problem, why wasn't it fixed?
Melees: In Halo 1 if you stood still and melee it would do weak damage, a running melee would do moderate damage and a jumping melee would do the most damage. In Halo 3 Bungie decided this was another thing good players would take advantage over so they screwed the entire melee system up. It only takes 2 melees to kill someone, there is no damage variation and one melee takes off an entire shield.
Apparently when 2 players melee each other at the same time with low shields, the player with the most health will prevail. ALWAYS. Ummmm, why? Why not reward the fastest player? If both players melee at almost exactly the same time, here's an idea - BOTH players should die. That's how it is in every other game and that's how it should be. In Halo 1 there were many moments both players would die at the same time, for some reason Bungie thought this balance was a bad idea and removed it in Halo 2 and 3.
Sword/Hammer delay: The Sword and Hammer is now useless against good players. Sure, Bungie n00bs can run around with their Swords out advertising it to the world and get some kills against bad kids, but when it comes to good players, if you advertise your Sword/Hammer you're a massive target saying "SHOOT ME" and no one is dumb enough to go near you. If you hide it until you're ready to use it, say on a player coming around the corner, there's no way to pull it out in time to get a kill. The Sword isn't even a power weapon anymore, hell, the Mauler is better than the Sword.
Sniper delay: The delay between Sniper shots feels like an eternity. Seeing multi kills with it is now rare. Getting those clutch no scopes is almost impossible because in a close range situation you can barely fire off one shot before getting killed. The delay between shots should be the same as Halo 2.
Overshield: The OS in Halo 3 is a joke. Not only are you a giant fluorescent target running around shining like a light bulb, the OS is also weak as hell. Why did Bungie reduce the effectiveness? Now, we can make our own custom powerup, which is cool because we can make a Halo 1 OS by giving it 5 second duration, invulnerability and 3X's shield. But we shouldn't have to. The OS should be brought back to Halo 1 style, then we could use the custom powerup for something else such as increased speed or increased damage.
Toggle shield doors: Give us the option to toggle shield doors in Forge.
Explosives: I'd like the option to remove ALL explosives from the maps, those fusion coils that respawn on the walls are extremely annoying.
Description: When editing game types, when you save changes it deletes your description. This doesn't seem to happen for Forged map variants, only game types. Not too big of an issue, but still annoying when you just want to change something simple and quickly, then you have to re-enter your description.
Spectator mode: Apparently it was in the Beta but Bungie removed it. Why? Near all FPS on PC have it and it's a great option. Especially for 1 vs 1, you can have players spectating, the winner plays on and the loser switches places.
Custom game list: This would be great, especially for players outside North America who find it hard to get players at certain times of the day for a custom game. Bungie didn't include this because they want to FORCE US to play match making. The think players won't play match making and it'll take longer to find games. Well GOOD! If players want to play customs over MM let them. I don't know why Bungie wants us to play the game their way.
Dedicated servers: Every multiplayer game on PC since Quake 1 has an option for dedicated servers. I can't think of a multiplayer game on PC that doesn't have this option, many games on Xbox also have this option, some of the first ever games on Xbox Live had this option such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Unreal Championship. Halo 3 would benefit so much from dedicated servers.
I'm not talking about dedicated servers for MM, or dedicated servers run by Bungie, I'm talking about being able to setup our own Xbox's as dedicated servers. This would get rid of host advantages and it would be awesome for online competitions and tournaments to make sure players are on a level playing field and aren't cheating. Bungie should be ashamed of themselves for excluding such a simple option that would give the game so much more potential.
These would run off a map/gametype cycle and companies with fast internet connections such as ISP's would host servers which gives the ability for bigger games with more players.
Rockets: If someone shoots me with a RL next to me, they should die as well. I'm sick of people using the RL like it's a shotgun. In Halo 1, the splash damage was huge. This meant you had to be careful with the RL and make sure you're far enough away from your target so you wouldn't kill yourself. This was perfect. In Halo 3 you can pretty much shoot someone point blank in the face with it and lose a bit of shield. That's ridiculous. Players should be punished for being careless with the RL.
Shotgun: The shotgun range should be increased a tiny bit, right now it really doesn't have an advantage over the Mauler and it still seems inconsistent at point blank range.
You are so right DAMN I LOVE THIS PYROTEQ
